222 Foundation

The Taz Grout 222 Foundation was launched to honor Tasman McKay Grout who spent 25 short years on the planet inspiring everyone who knew her to live and love better. Everything she stood for was some variation of this theme: create relentlessly, love fiercely and do quiet, kind things for the underdog.

Each year on February 22, the 222 Foundation awards a $12,222 grant to an innovative project or person with a big idea to change consciousness and therefore change the world.

We look for projects that support the following ideas:

1. A change in perspective is our greatest need. We believe all people (no exceptions) long to be generous and create beautiful things.

2. Today’s hopelessness is based on false premises. We look to defy the old story of scarcity, lack and the need to fight for resources. We aim to prove that the universe, once liberated from no-longer-working paradigms of scarcity, is generative and endlessly abundant.

3. The us against them model is kaput. We believe all humans are interconnected and that even tiny actions have great significance

Anatomy of a guilt trip

“The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem.”—Captain Jack Sparrow

My dysfunction of choice has always been guilt. Maybe you’ve been on the same hamster wheel? The one where you obsessively worry about all the things you could have, should have, why didn’t I? do better.

I wrongly believed that if I beat myself up enough I would become a better person. If I listed all my faults and came up with a plan to improve upon each of them, I would finally get the guy, the financial situation, the (fill in the blank) I so desired.

What I finally came to realize is that guilt (and all its mean girl cousins) is a deterrent to miracles. Each “why didn’t I?” only made the wall between me and my highest good more impenetrable.

As I began to dismantle each shaming thought, to take my focus off the “facts” of my pitiful existence, a higher Truth began trickling in. I am okay just the way I am.

Every wrinkle on my nearly 60-year-old face, every age spot, every time I felt wronged or angry and acted less than the perfect human I aspired to be is okay.

Self-love isn’t about getting a massage every other week or treating myself to a bubble bath–although they’re nice gifts and never discouraged. Self-love is about accepting myself exactly as I am. Warts and all.

It’s about the two magic words I repeat over and over again: It’s okay. Whatever I think, whatever I feel, it’s all okay. And I am lovable and loved despite my perceived flaws and alleged past “failings.”

Guilt, it turns out, is as foolhardy as any military Strategic Defense Initiative. The only thing it can ever deter is the always-flowing stream of universal good.

For best results, wait ‘til you’re snorting

“Laughter is the sound of the soul dancing. My soul probably looks like Fred Astaire.”– Jarod Kintz 1lilly
It’s Monday, first day of a new week and I’m betting you’re launching some new goal, some new fitness regime, some new wannabe manifestation.

Whatever it is, you should know that it’s already happening. You’re already thinner, happier, eating healthier food. In one of the quantum probabilities, that is fact. You made the intention, it’s out there, it’s in the field of potentiality.

In fact, you can’t stop it…

Unless….

you block it with your mental architecture, your beliefs, your stubborn insistence on focusing over and over on what appears to be.

Take your mind off those old habits. They’re annoying and getting tiresome.

That’s why the first step to accomplishing anything is to get on a frequency that can hold the new vision. A frequency where your connection to the bigger thing is fluid and open and where things can materialize easily, quickly, no muss, no fuss.

Getting on the joy and gratitude frequency is by far the best thing you can do for yourself. Better than counting calories, or making lists of thing you want to change.

That’s why I proclaim joy and happiness every day. That’s why I laugh every chance I get. I figure I’m ready to begin a new project, a new goal only when I’m happy and feeling good. As I said in the headline, once you’re snorting in laughter, your frequency is very close to God.

And with that little tidbit of New Year’s glee, I’ll close with this fun little story from Yvonne who asked the FP to jump through some hoops:

“I read your book while on a month long trip to Barcelona. I’m still here as I write. I decided to look for purple shoes as my sign in the Volkswagen Jetta experiment. I thought that would be a significant challenge. I’ve never seen purple shoes or a purple feather.

“As it turns out purple is the new “in” color! Not one to follow fashion, I couldn’t believe it. There are purple shoes in every shoe store and on feet everywhere! The purple feathers were harder to find. A day after I found hundreds of purple shoes, I found an art piece by Salvatore Dali (in the Dali Museum in Figueres, Spain) using peasant feathers and part of the feathers were purple, but then in a woman’s accessory shop there was a large necklace scarf type piece that was made exclusively of purple feathers!”

Why I’m burning my shame file and starting again in 2016

“Say yes to everything. You never know if it might be a lottery ticket.”–Derek Sivers

I’m taking Cheryl Strayed’s advice for 2016–putting myself in the way of beauty.

I plan to laugh more, to dance more, to hug more, to give myself more breaks.

And I’m officially burning that old shame file (the one where I keep tabs on all my mistakes).

Instead I will focus on these three Truths:

1. If I want to change something in my life, my thoughts and consciousness are a far better tool than physical effort.

2. Life (or the Divine Buzz that animates everything) is always on my team, re-creating my thoughts and consciousness out here in physical form, making it easier for me to see.

3. I’m here on the physical plane to play around with this animating energy, to have fun, to experience joy.

Tell me in the comments sections below what beauty you plan to stand in front of this year.

Miracles 101: Get on the joy frequency

“You know that voice inside of you that says, ‘I can’t do it.’ Don’t let that little f— win.”—Marc Maron

Just a quick post today to remind you that miracles are trying like bloody hell to happen in your life.

All you have to do is create the frequency that allows them to be freely broadcast.

Here are a couple “miracle broadcasts” that recently dropped into my inbox.

Take it away, Diane:

“Soon after I asked the Universe to show me something cool, I put on an antique record from 1951 called American Indian Songs of the Southwest, which included a Zuni raindance. I was thinking how cool it would be if it could rain when I played the record, but then I didn’t think about it again.

“I was three-quarters of the way through the record and enjoying the music, when my apartment was hit by a big downpour! I was totally impressed. And, the rain mostly stopped when the record finished.

“Later, I looked up the weather forecast for my town for that day and the forecast called for zero precipitation, and the whole day had been really nice weather. Now, that’s a miracle.”

Story #2:

“My hubby and I had written the butterfly experiment off as not successful. So about two weeks later, I was looking out in the backyard and saw two huge beautiful butterflies feeding on some flowers. I called my husband over to show him and we joked about the experiment.

“Only a day or so later our back porch becomes practically infested with caterpillars! There was a constant supply of them on the INSIDE of our screened in porch, plus many more crawling up the outsides! It was crazy! I would attempt to scoop them up to release them in the far corner of the yard only to turn around and have like a dozen more popping out of nowhere! Needless to say I told my husband it may well be time to shut off the experiment before the universe REALLY got crafty… (The next day they were all but gone.)”

And story #3:

“One by one I checked off the items from E-Cubed. Except for the beach ball. The second I saw that on the list, I felt not very optimistic. It’s November in New York, not exactly beach ball season. I told myself that maybe I’ll see one on the internet or on television. Nope.

“So it was the last day of the 72 hours. I was just finishing up at work (retail) when out of the corner of my eye in walks a little girl with her mom. What is she holding in her hands? A BEACH BALL!!! A big blue and white beach ball with blue stars all over it!!! I got a chill in my whole body, tears came to my eyes and I started shaking. I immediately called over my friend and explained the experiment and showed her the list on my phone so that i could have a witness.”

So that’s how we do it, folks!

5 writers. 200,000 donors. A true reason to shout hallelujah! #IStandWithLove

“Love is worth all the hullaballo.”—Cheryl Strayed

I didn’t plan to write a blog post this morning. I’m out the door in 5 minutes. But I’m so stoked about this amazing piece of news that I really have no choice.

Five writers raised $1 million to help Syrian refugees in a mere 31 hours. That’s barely more than a day.

But what’s even cooler is that this great gift to our suffering brothers and sisters was raised by all of us together. No one gave more than $25 which means the little guys came together for a great cause. Without politicians. Or institutions.

I’d also like to thank the Donald Trumps and the Isils of the world who, on some cosmic level, agreed to play the part of the “bad guys” so the rest of us can come together and prove to ourselves what is truly possible. Maybe these “dark forces” are part of the universe’s bigger plan? Not for me to judge. My only job is keep holding out for love. For a higher Truth.

The whole scenario gives me SO. MUCH. HOPE. Anything is possible. We CAN change the world, guys. And no better time to be reminded of that than Christmas. The light is definitely here.

Enjoy your holidays. Make it the best one ever. And remember to do more of what you want to do and less of what you think you should.

I love you all SO MUCH.
