“Most of our assumptions have outlived their usefulness.” ― Marshall McLuhanacim meme 3

The Course in Miracles is all about challenging assumptions. We don’t see life as it really is because the stories we tell ourselves block the world’s unlimited largesse.

Instead of keeping track of all the beautiful gifts we’ve been given, we keep track of how many times we’ve been rejected or how many times this or that didn’t work.

But what if the opposite is true? What if the life force is actively working on our behalf at all times to deliver exactly what we need?

Most of us believe, that if we want something, we have to save up the money, go to a store and buy said thing. But what if that’s an erroneous assumption? What if all we have to do is make the request?

I just got a lovely email from a long-distance hiker who told me it’s common knowledge, among hikers out on the Appalachian, the Pacific Crest and other long-haul trails, that whatever is needed often shows up magically, beside the trail.

For example, on a 200-mile hike, he noted that he’d failed to pack a soap dish. That very day, a soap dish showed up along the side of the trail. It’s known in the hiking community as “trail magic.”

It also works in the city.

Once, in Mexico City where I was giving a workshop, I noticed I’d lost one of my Einstein wands (from Experiment #3 in E-Squared). I had no time to replace the wire hanger, but guess what? Not three minutes later, I literally tripped over a metal wire on the sidewalk that I quickly used to fashion into the missing wand.

It’s like manna from heaven that was miraculously supplied to the Israelites in their journey across the wilderness. It literally fell from the sky.

So here’s the assumption I suggest questioning this year. Is it true that, if you need something, you have to go to the store to buy it? Or will the universe deliver it to you, as long as you simply ask and don’t let your assumptions get in the way?

  1. Thank you Pam;
Since 2016 I have walked long distance ‘Caminos’ in France and Spain, and it’s true; whenever I need a place to eat or to rest or stay, it just appears a short time after I ‘order’ it from the Universe!
Happy New Year, let’s make 2020 a glorious year! ☺

  7. Hello Pam… Thank you so much for your newsletter…always inspirational…always so insightful!

A couple of my experiences on the same theme: 1.Partner and I were five minutes into a long road trip and I realised I did not have a water bottle in the front of the car. He asked if it could wait as we were on a busy road and I replied that I could not so he reluctantly pulled over to go to the boot. When we stopped…there was a brand new sealed litre bottle of water standing upright on the edge of the kerb!

2.At the beach on the the edge of the ocean with partner and son who asked what the time was…in the water in front of me a watch appeared so I picked it up and told him the time. He said the watch was a really good waterproof type he had always wanted.

May your new year/ decade bring you much to celebrate.

Much love and warmest regards Wenda Matthews

  9. I absolutely know this message of Universal magic to be true for me. Sometimes I just take it for granted, but then remind myself to say a heartfelt “Thank You!” to Spirit for always taking care of me! For instance, today I had a present wrapped up for a neighbor and was going to walk over to her home and deliver it, but I needed to finish some work. I happened to look out my window and saw her getting out of her car in front of my home. So naturally I went out and was able to give her the gift, and we both enjoyed the encounter. Thank you Pam, for so beautifully writing about how we can all achieve these miracles! Warm wishes for a most happy 2020.

  13. LOVE this magic!! 😊 Thanksgiving Day my favorite and only pair of Prada sunglasses fell out of my pocket on an Aer Lingus plane in London. Lost for good. I miss them! Christmas Day my daughters gift to me—a brand new pair of Prada sunglasses!! She had no idea I lost mine. When I think of all the kinds of sunglasses or gifts She could’ve picked for me I’m astounded how this orchestrated perfectly. Thank you for all you are Pam. Happiest New Year 🥰

  16. I’m always happy to see a post from you. Hope you are having a very happy new year. I was talking to a friend on her blog about this and she tried an experiment that worked better than expected. She even converted her husband. I love passing this stuff along. Hugs, Marlene

  17. Once when I was young and traveling with friends, I lost my wallet. As I walked by the payphone at the motel, a strange noise startled me. I turned back and the phone began spewing out coins like it was a Vegas slot machine. I think it was less than $20, but it was enough to feed me on the last day of our trip.
