Bring the invisible to the foreground

“Reveling in love is one sure way to see through and beyond yourself to the wider world.”—B.J. Miller

For those following the Course in Miracles lessons (either in the book or on the Badass app), you’re probably noticing that the first few lessons present a rather shocking expose.

That what we see isn’t real. That what we think isn’t true. That the world is a lot less solid and stable than we’ve been led to believe.

This declassification of the ego’s secrets isn’t anything new. For more than a century, physicists have been pointing out the rather inconvenient truth that nothing is as it seems.

The world out there is simply a hologram, a transient play of light and space that our crafty brains solidify into an image.

The earth looks flat, but it really isn’t. The planet looks like the center of the universe, but it really isn’t. The ego likes to rush in and crowd our thoughts with illusions, things that really don’t exist.

And here’s why it’s important to cut through the façade. Why the Course calls out the brain for its propensity to automatically adjust images to align with the past.

Because there is another beautiful, miraculous dimension that we miss. To be fair, our neural pathways are trying like bloody hell to protect us—or rather protect our material bodies—but in doing so they edit and leave out all the good stuff.

If you’ve ever been snorkeling or scuba diving, you understand the concept. Beneath the ocean, beautiful in its own right, is a teeming world of color, wonder and astonishing life.  But until you go deeper, you never know this other world is there.

Most of who you are is invisible. The love, the light, the truth of you is impossible to see until you give up your belief in the ego’s alleged safety devices (AKA illusions).

The past, the known isn’t bad per se.  It’s just that there’s a lot more life to be had when you bring the invisible, as the above headline suggests, to the foreground. #222 Forever

  1. So refreshing to be reminded of this TRUTH which is so easily forgotten. Sending giant bundles of love your way, Pam. Let me know if you would ever want to use the music video I created because of what I have learned from you…”I Will Look for Miracles” is on You Tube. (Just celebrated my 83rd birthday!)

  2. Good Morning, Pam!
I am on lesson 322 of the book. I read a page each morning, immediately after my meditation (the book and my reading glasses are right there on the table next to the rocking chair where I meditate). It’s a nice time and place to reach for the lessons. I love it! Having read many of your other books, it’s like a nice daily reminder of what I already know to be true. And your e-mails are always a lovely addition to my morning. I don’t have a smart phone, so I don’t do apps.
Lots of love to you and to everyone, everywhere!

  3. Hi Pam,

Thank you so much for your newsletters. I so enjoy them and their inspiration and insight.

Question: which app are you referring to in the text here for ACIM? I’d love to give it a try!

    All the best,
    JoDee

  4. Hi Pam…I’ve always enjoyed your perspective on life and try (I know…there is no ‘try’) to follow a similar path. I’ve read and researched and been amazed with the quantum world..(didn’t Niels Bohr say that anyone who isn’t shocked by the quantum world hasn’t understood it?) and I ‘know’ in my heart of hearts, after much reading of Seth (Jane Roberts) that we create our own realities. I can remember doing this quite unconsciously as a young girl, literally creating a pair of bell bottom jeans when they were all the rage the first time around in the 60’s. I’ve read Ernest Holmes’s The Science of Mind and again impressed with the ideas there too. I could be reading and learning more forever but I wonder what your thoughts are on why we all seem to see the same reality? i.e we all saw the happenings at the Capitol earlier this month…and we all read the same news whether it’s fake or otherwise. Is it a collective unconscious influenced by, as Seth suggests, the official line of consciousness’. Even Jane Roberts apparently succumbed to this ‘official line of consciousness’….not being able to ‘cure’ her own long standing physical ailments. Like Bernadette Soubirous allegedly felt that the Lourdes waters were not for her, I sometimes feel that I cannot make a real breakthrough with this…… Even though I have discussed with friends and like minded folk and convinced them that all of this is definitely worthy of some serious thought. Maybe I’m trying too hard…or maybe..when I really sit and think about the stuff of my life…I truly have got all that I have thought about. Trouble is…I can’t seem to get moving again!!! I continue to work on it and appreciate your light hearted approach and encouragement, despite your own enormous loss from the physical of your daughter, Taz, through your regular email updates. I know you will get thousands of letters and communications daily…but maybe one day you can give us your thoughts on the power of the collective unconscious and the nature of our personal reality (thanks Seth) in the midst of it. (or did I miss that one?) Stay safe! and thanks for the encouragement. PS: I’m not sure that you would do such a thing but would appreciate my email details remaining private. Ta!

    1. Hi Michelle–What a thought-provoking question. I guess my first response is that not all of us do see things the same way. Remember that dress that went around on FB? Is it black and blue or white and gold? People were astounded that others saw it as a different color. We assume everyone sees things the same way, but we don’t truly know that they do. What I call a cat could be what you call a dog. Because we are all one (in reality–we’re all one big energy field), I think a lot of the images to which you refer (the Capitol, etc.) are the results of the whole creating together. That’s why each of us can work to “fix” the image by looking past appearances and bringing love to the foreground.

  5. Dear dear Pam,
This was so Just what I needed 💝💟🤩

I tried NLP exercise just few days ago, Called indian practice. But I wasn’t able to reach my past inner child. It seemed that my past was behind a thick glossy black wall. My coach said that maybe it is like my sub consciousness is protecting me from something.
But. As you said it, ‘ The past, the known isn’t bad per se. ’
There IS so much more to this wonderful life and we have the light and knowledge within us right now. In this moment.

I’ve been scuba diving in +40 meters in dark dark cold finnish lake, and there is indeed a whole another world full of life.

Thank you thank you thank you 🦋🦋🦋

I’ve been reading Serge Kahili King’s Huna btw, and I am inspired by it. It feels like each lesson of ACIM is compressed in the Seven words, ‘Ike, Kala, Makia, Manawa, Aloha 💚,Mana, Pono ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I’ll be posting about these in the near future on my Pelonteet site. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Ps. Couple of days ago I noticed a car with license registration plate saying ‘TAZ-367’

    With pure love, Teija

    1. Love that you saw the license plate with Taz-367. Someone sent me a photo of a plate with Taz 222. Love the Huna idea! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Thanks so much for the amazing app. It doesn’t say anywhere how much it is after the free trial? I did search. It would help to know.

Also, I hope you don’t mind but I noticed a typi on day one…”funamental nature of reality” . Usually I would assume it was a Pam-ism but it doesn’t appear to be in this context?

So excited to do the course this way.

    Much love Kate x

  7. I’ve been trying to join your badass course in miracles but unable. Any suggestions? Blessings 24/7 Zazu

  8. Thankyou Pam for the reminder that most of who we are is not visible. I love the snorkelling metaphor, and although I’ve never been snorkelling or scuba diving, I’ve seen beautiful documentaries of the amazing underwater world, and so for me this is a very helpful way of explaining this truth. Our stubborn brains sure make it difficult for us to remember it though! So thanks for giving us a great example of how we can remind ourselves that there is so much more to us and to our world than meets the eye. 😁
Blessings galore to you dear Pam!
