I’m a huge fan girl of fortune tellers, psychics, mediums, tarot readers, palm readers, the whole crystal ball of wax. What could possibly be more fun than paying a mysterious someone to peer into your future and deliver exciting predictions of what’s to come.
Even the warnings are riveting, providing a never-ending source of intel for making decisions.
Over the past decade, however, I’ve discovered an even better resource for predicting my future. And it’s absolutely free of charge.
The words coming out of my lips. The words I utter to my friends, to my family, the words that dogpaddle through my brain.
When I say (and think) things like “This is going to be an extraordinarily epic day” or “Things always work out for me,” I find that’s exactly what happens. When I complain about an ache or bemoan the fact I didn’t get the prerequisite eight hours (who made up that figure anyway?), I pave the way for a less than stellar day.
The words we use to describe ourselves and our lives are a powerful resource.
We can use them to prophesy a positive future. Or we can throw them around carelessly like confetti at a party.
When we say thing like, “Oh no, it’s flu and cold season” or “I’ve tried every diet out there,” we foretell an old story that has no reason to repeat itself except for our propensity to keep peering into the same antiquated and boring crystal ball.
The more I discover the power of my thoughts, the more I notice the psychic implications of my words.
At breakfast, a friend mentioned how she was blindsided over some event in her life. She uses this word a lot. Well, guess what? Every time I see her, there’s a new episode in her ongoing soap opera. I could probaby sell it to the networks: Blindsided: how one well-meaning drama queen unwittingly sows distress again. And again. And again.
So, while I’d never discourage anyone from consulting a psychic (the entertainment value alone is worth every penny), but it’s imperative to acknowledge that continuing to rehash the same old phrases and words and thoughts is a more accurate predictor of your future than any horoscope could ever be.

Well said. Sometimes I use a tarot reader when they have their $10 for 10 minutes special, who usually confirms what I already know which can be helpful, and just for the fun of it, I love my friend Connie who does an annual astrology reading.

You nailed it right on the head again. I have consulted many very famous psychics trying to find confirmation of what I already knew. That’s how I discovered I had the answers that no one else had. With only one exception. She was worth every cent and I still don’t know how she did what she did. But I agree, what I speak, I make real. Everyone does it. I’ve paid for psychic readings and were always satisfied with the results. But then, I wondered later, if they were telling me exactly what I had asked them to tell me. LOL An experienced dowser had suggested back in 2005 that I put love and protection around myself so no one could read me…and often wondered how that affects the readings.
Our words are powerful. But, then those old data thoughts are powerful too. I’m been debating about which has more power, the words or the thoughts. For example, if I were doing the Dr. Emoto experience with water, if I wrote the word HATE, but thought the word, LOVE, what type of crystal would the frozen water produce. And another example, when a politician or salesman or anyone is telling someone what he thinks the other person wants to hear instead of what he is really thinking, which reality occurs. I’ll have to meditate on this.
Things always work out for me and Miracles happen for me are the 2 phrases I use and think most of the day and they really work.

Pam, one of the best blogs you ever wrote! I love going to seers as well, for, as you mentioned, the entertainment value. Though no one has been right in about 25 years!! But, you are correct-we all should monitor what comes out of our mouths. Most of us are addicted to drama. It seems optimistic and wholesome thoughts are never dramatic, but serene and happy.

Interesting blog today. Yesterday I journaled. Words. Words that I say, words that I hear, words that I read,. I create my reali;ty based on words. You put it much more eloquently. I as lifetime student of Dyer, etc. Get It.
I am as I say.
Now I have to figure out how to create affordable house in my home town of Toronto.
I am an actual Psychic and do free readings also own a facebook group well 2 groups actually giving free readings. The other group is a psychic development group to which I help others develop their abilities. Because we are all born with the gift just some are more attuned to it and as we grow up we have people around us who shape us. To allow us to believe in what is real and what is not real so this forms our minds to the world we see today. Just because we do not see something does not mean it is not there, also if you can’t smell, taste and see something does it really mean it does not exist.

Thank you for your playful article on a very important subject. In the words of Monty Python, I would like to apologize for the following long comment. ☺️ I am somewhat passionate on this topic…
The universe conspired with me my whole life to first expand my Senses, learn about the wisdom of the heart, and trust my intuition so that I could now help people connect to the magic within and build their intuitive muscle (shameless plug: I created and teach an ecosystem of soul tools called Heartifact Archaeology in our company Illuminating Hearts). AND I feel similarly to you, I have strong feelings about any authority outside of us having accurate information about our future. In fact I teach that, as creators, our future is *always* shifting with each choice. So how can someone really predict? One of my tools is Tarot and I use the cards as a soul mirror to dive in and see what be-lie-fs and stories are blocks to a person’s freedom and joy in the “now” so that they too can be more fully themselves.
I am a pragmatic mystic. After two decades as an architect and sustainable leader for the built environment—while keeping my mystical leanings to the side with only close friends and family—I finally stepped (leapt) with both feet into one world integrating all of me. I came out of the proverbial spiritual closet almost four years ago and now I use my intuitive gifts as my livelihood.
I have deep respect like you do for the psychic world, I am always impressed when someone can help me connect with bigger aspects of myself and the world. I also have experienced psychic newbies and experienced alike leave many a visitor distraught from the future predictions and very specific advice they were given.
