A whole new instruction manual

“None but ourselves can free our minds.”—Bob Marleymarley

Not long after he returned from India, spiritual guru Ram Dass was speaking to a group in New York. He was decked out in a flowing white robe and beads. A woman in the audience stood up and asked, “Why are you dressed like that? Aren’t you Jewish?’

Without missing a beat, he answered: “Only on my parent’s side.”

All of us are SO MUCH MORE than the genetic makeup of our bodies, the heredity of our families. We are literally God in drag.

ACIM Lesson 71 (Only God’s plan for salvation will work) tells us that trying to be anything else is crazy ridiculous.

The ego’s plan (if only this were different, I’d be okay) is like following a map of Peoria to navigate the streets of London. Or like using a do-it-yourself bookshelf manual to fix your vacuum cleaner. God’s plan is to know that everything IS OKAY! To celebrate that fact with full frontal abandon.

This lesson also has one of my all-time favorite passages, one I use nearly as much as my “Something extraordinarly epic is going to happen to me today.”

What would you have me do?

Where would you have me go?

What would you have me say, and to whom?

The answers I get from this practice are the only instruction manual I could ever need.

  1. Laughing, Pam. I came out of meditation with that mantra on my lips. Then saw your post and the lesson!
As I am really great at “following a map of Peoria to navigate the streets of London,” methinks Source wants me to get this one 🙂
    Thank you!

  2. Love these questions. What would you have me do?

Where would you have me go?

What would you have me say, and to whom?

    Thank you, Pam!

  3. Oh Pam you’re wonderful! I laughed out loud at “we are literally God in drag.”!!!! 😁 And those three questions are excellent- especially now that I understand God is not some being telling me what I must do in order to obey him because otherwise I’ll be in trouble!! Asking those questions means I can trust I’ll be guided by the wisdom, knowledge and power of the whole universe and that universe (God/The Dude/The FP/etc) is on my side!! Wants the best for me! Knows what’s best for me better than I do! If only I could truly realise this, life would be so much easier!! Thankyou so much Pam for the clear reminder written in your delightful style. I’m feeling pumped up and ready for a fabulous day! 😁

  4. I wish God was skinny and young. If I’m God in drag, we are all in trouble. But you and the Course are correct. Those are the questions I ask daily. Today during my walk, I got the message to move my living room furniture around, again, so I can see outside and to keep quiet and listen. Did that. A friend needed a friend to listen. Good questions. Why is it so hard?

  5. Spent a good deal of time today contemplating those questions… crickets!! How do I truly hear the answers without my own nav man trying to run the show?

  6. As per todays ACIM’s salvation means to me, Self Realization, awakening, enlightenment to know who we truly are, there is no death, no separation. Love to all!

  7. Thank you Pam!! I can hardly keep up but please keep going. I have never gotten through the course. I have however learned some much from my little learning.

Thanks to your emails i am now getting more and more from it and i am so blessed and grateful to keep going!!!

I may finally make to the end 🙂

    I appreciate you, Kim
