Abundance, hoarders and why I’m a whole lot richer than #realDonaldTrump.

As many of you may have seen on Facebook, I’ve been celebrating my daughter’s college graduation. Here’s a picture of the two of us in Bermuda long ago. I was there writing an travel article for Tennis magazine and she was my trusty research assistant.

At the same time (thanks to the magic of the internet), I’ve been “speaking” at the Hay House World Summit.

In my bio, I love that they called me a “Happy Life Scientist.”  I also got a kick out of one listener’s comments: “Love your Kansas accent, Pam Grout, it makes me happy. Like Captain Kangaroo, Mr. GreenJeans and Banana Man.”

There’s one more day to listen for free. If you’re so inclined, there’s a link at the bottom of this post.

So with all that said, I decided to re-run a blog post from a few years ago.

“I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen.”—Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars

I didn’t make Forbes’ list of billionaires in 2015. Unlikely, I’ll make it this year either. But I do know a secret that makes me deserving of the list.

I know with complete certainty that the world is limitless, abundant and strangely-accommodating. I also know that anything I could ever need or want is as easy to manifest as plugging in the toaster.

Take today, for example, I’m making limoncello for my daughter’s party, enjoying mochas and breakfast out. And in a few months, I’m flying to Barcelona to visit her in her new post.

Those billionaires? I doubt they could spare the time.

In fact, the only difference between me and “The Donald” is I choose not to carry my riches around. It’s comforting to know that anything I could ever want to do is available to me, but why flaunt it or drag around a bunch of material baggage?

In fact, I’d like to argue that amassing $10 billion, the dollar amount Trump claims to be worth, is not that different than hoarding old newspapers, leaky buckets and all the other junk collecting in the homes of the dysfunctional folks we watch on the A&E show, “Hoarders.”

No, my role model is Peace Pilgrim who, when she was very young, made an important discovery: “Making money is easy.”

Which is why she could give up her earthly possessions and walk around the world with nothing but the clothes on her back. As she said about her 28-year-old journey, “Life is full. Life is good. I have a feeling of always being surrounded by all of the good things, like love and peace and joy. It’s like a protective surrounding.”

That’s all anyone really needs. To know with sure conviction that “the world is limitless, abundant and strangely accommodating.”

It’s not the “stuff” you want. Jesus could never have brought Lazarus back to life and multiplied all those fishes and loaves if he’d been preoccupied by the desire for a beachside residence.

That said, I do not want to make you feel guilty for wanting a big home in Malibu. There is not one thing wrong with a big home in Malibu. Or anything else you want. Want it. Walk toward it with all your heart and might. Just know that there are higher rungs. And know that most people hoard material things out of fear. And fear, after all, is what we’re attempting to move away from.

And here’s a fun video you might have seen.

  1. so very predictable.
I’ve been reading you for years and do enjoy reading you and have read your Squared and Cubed.
My eye rolling sets in when you make political jabs.
Billionaires are what they are and have obviously let a lot in.
In this instance George Soros, who is even more of a billionaire than Donald Trump might have been sited.
He funded what may viewed as not overly positive chaos and destructive behaviour ( no, these were not spontaneous demonstrations ) in Albuquerque at Trump’s rally on Tuesday night, May 24.
Today I read that Trump personally had the beautiful statue of William Tecumseh Sherman being led by the winged goddess of victory on the south-east edge of Central Park in New York, sculpted by Saint-Gaudens, painstakingly restored quietly and with no fanfare to the tune of several million dollars in the 1980s, as a gift to the city.

Yeah, higher rungs baby, higher rungs!

    1. So why can’t she make political statements? There is nothing wrong with that. She just stated I choose not to hoard my money. She has said that multiple times. I roll my eyes because someone has to nit pick that she can’t seem to have a comment about donald trump and which by the way she made no political jabs she talked about the person and his money, not his political campaign.

      1. Pam can make all the political statements she wants, I have zero problem with that…just own the POV and lens through which, in this case, ” billionaires” are being viewed.
There are LOTS of billionaires out there nowadays and not really any reason to pick Trump over Soros ….other than a political one.
It was predictable taken in the context of my many years of reading and enjoying Pam!

    2. She chose Donald trump for a reason. For a billionaire he’s a very selfish entitled egotistical man. He’s not a generous man and there are many billionaires that are. He loves media attention so why can’t she use him? He’s the epitome of what never to be.

      1. Ya think?
Gee Donald Trump paid for the completion of the Wolman Rink in Central Park as a gift to New York and he also totally renovated the statue of William Tecumseh Sherman by the sculptor Saint-Gaudens for several million $ of his own money.
Trump also helped Marine Sgt Tahmooressi who was languishing in a Mexican prison totally ignored by the US Embassy and govt , get out and gave him 25K.
These are not the actions of ” very selfish entitled egotistical man”
I think Donald Trump is perfectly lovely and the world be happier if there were more people like him.
        Plus he’s funny!
Pam can use whomever she likes and I can giggle.

      2. I am going to tell you something about Mexico. I am a mexican citizen as well as American however you cannot bring guns into Mexico from another country. It is illegal in Mexico. That is why the marine was arrested. He wasn’t languishing, he put himself there. There are many signs on the mexican/USA border that states no guns are allowed. Yet he didn’t listen. There are always two sides to a story. Can’t follow the laws of another country expect to pay consequences.

    3. Lol that is hardly anything. Let’s see Bill Gates has built schools for under privileged areas. He donates masses amounts of money to research in health. He donates masses of his money to tackle poverty all over the world. He donates money to ensure poverty countries have access to vaccines. He makes sure that money is donated to under privileged children to make sure they can have scholarships to complete school. That is a man who beyond generous and you hardly ever hear anything negative about the man. He is not full of himself and he is wayyyy richer than Donald Trump. He’s is very well known for his philanthropy.

      1. Isn’t it wonderful that people who have different POVs can love to read Pam Grout and swim in the happy vortex!!!!
Happy you love Bill Gates and happy I love Donald Trump!!!! So much delicious abundance!!!!

  2. First time I’ve semi-disagree with you Miss Pam. Seems like other LOA teachers, you are wanting us to be Happy with what surrounds us now and forget the chasing after stuff, and loads of money.
I want the best music equipment/speakers, the trips to the gorgeous places, trips to meet my many internet friends all over the world, the fast expensive, exhilarating cars, a boat and jet ski’s to take people on the water who may never think that could happen, an ultralight trike which is incredibly safe and exciting. I choose Fun though, not stuff. There are incredible things, devices, people and places that I wish to experience as the person/personality that I Am here now. Not in my next life or one after that. Maybe I got off track here, but something in this article did not feel good to me.

    Peace, Love & Light,

    Jeff

  3. Pam you need to stay out of politics, Donald Trump is willing to take a mega cut in pay in order to try and get this country back on track.
If all the people looking for handouts from the government would apply your metaphysical principles we wouldn’t need a welfare state.

    1. Steven she made no comments about his politics whatsoever so maybe you should keep your suggestions to yourself. You are very rude.

  4. I love your books pam and your blog, you’ve helped me so much even pulling me out of depression.

I live in England, British and have no interest in American politics, please stop harping on about Donald Trump I noticed it in one of your books I’m currently reading and it’s actually putting me off!!!! I had to skip over that section in the book, yes I want the nice car and the house, I’m not a Donald Trump fan…but good on him he made it and anyone else who’s made it big….I’m agreeing with Jeff, something in the article did not feel right to me either.

    God Bless

    Julie

    1. I live and own a business in Carmel by the Sea, a vacation destination and the home to a number of extremely wealthy people. I am in their lives and their homes because I take care of their dogs. And when I say wealthy…I’m talking extreme wealth, including billionaires. All of them I just love, along with their dogs and they love their dogs. The thing I do notice, however, is that their wealth often acts as a deterrent to their happiness and sense of freedom rather than something that facilitates a feeling of happiness and bliss. What’s really funny is that many of these clients prefer to hang out at my funky little house which is filled with dogs and my art ( I do portraits of the dogs ) because it’s a break from all the “stuff” they spend all their time managing and instead they get to be around these happy dogs and art. A few of them have actually told me….they envy MY life! I understand this because even though I am not wealthy, I have always been around very wealthy people and celebrities. The gardeners often enjoy the rich people’s gardens more than the owners of the gardens. Now, having said all this – there is nothing I love and delight more in than watching myself manifest something I want or need. I love Pams books and how they have helped me do just that. This blog was spot on, in my opinion. In closing I have to also mention that one of these clients who I dearly love and frankly my heart breaks for……she is very wealthy and is addicted to spending. She accumulates so much stuff she has to keep buying homes and renting storage facilities because she can’t stop buying. But along with all the cool stuff, she also can’t let go of all the old junk. She has become a slave to her possessions.

  5. I just read and thank you that really hit home with me so I think I should reread it again

  6. Most good humans are happier and much wiser than the narcissistic needy pathetic Mr. Trump. I cannot comprehend why anyone with a functioning brain looks twice at him or believes his bs. He shames the handful of decent billionaires out there. If there were no mirrors on the planet he would shrivel up and die. Nothing wrong with wanting nice things, but stuff will never make you happier.

  7. I just had an epiphany!!!

I have a very large debt that has really dragged me down. It hit me that all that money spent blessed many people!

I believe what you send out comes back threefold. So, I just need to expect the blessings to be returned to me, with enough to pay the debt and still be able to bless more…. This time with the wisdom of not going into debt to do so.

    Happy dance!

  8. “I choose not to carry my riches around.” Loved it before, and still love this. And I totally get it. When you know you can have what you need as you need it, there is no need to horde. Of course, I bet it could be fun to have more money than you’d need, just to be able to create new adventures and share the wealth.

  9. I have enjoyed your books but had issues some of your conclusion but respect you as Principle of attraction guide. The world does what the world does and your really stepped down your energy on this one. Sorry to see you go there and hope you dont stay at this lower vibration level.

    1. She’s human not god. Even spiritual people are not perfect. But her statement was fine. She’s not lowering her energy at all. People see what they want to see.

  10. You know thank you pam for a wonderful blog as usual. Your comments are your right to have since it’s your blog and frankly you have stated it many times how you do not need to hoard your money and I agree. Abundance is around us and welcoming if we bothered to look and not be so full of fear for lack. Too bad people think politics and spirituality have to be separate but they are not, even though you mentioned no politics in this blog. That a person who focuses on goodness of spirit can’t seem to have an opinion! The same thing happened with Marianne Williamson but she spoke much truth. So you continue to write as you always have and thanks again for a nice blog and reminder about the abundance of the universe.

  11. You are so awesome!

My ride is coming along brilliantly. Especially when I let go and let the Universe drive this incredible event! 🙂

    All the best,

    ~Alisa
