The 5 kinds of capital that out-trump financial capital

“The spiritual lens—even just the nightly gratitude list–is starting to rewrite the story of my life. I feel like I have been snatched out of the fire, salvaged, saved.”—Mary Karr thank and grow

You might have seen my post on Facebook, where I gushed in glee about my new book. Hay House, my publisher, moved up the pub date (that’s publication date, not a day where I lift pints of hearty ale) from October to August.

It’s now available for pre-order so I posted the cover and wrote two sentences about my excitement.  That tiny mention sold enough books on Amazon to move it to #1 in New Releases in New Thought. At least for a day. I was blown away.

That being said, I want you to know that I don’t view this blog as an advertisement or a marketing tool. In fact, yesterday, I paid to have all ads taken off my site.  I figured it was the least I could do for those of you who so generously take the time to read my posts.

I write them out of sheer joy. I write from my heart and I view them as a gift to anyone who cares to read them. I’m not out to monetize this website.

Which is why I don’t use my blog to promote what’s known as affiliate programs. You know–those posts that have the same spiel, the same wording and everything, from five different people. While there’s a certain kind of mad genius in promoting someone else’s program or product in exchange for a percentage of sales, I choose to turn down such invitations because I don’t view you as “a list.” You are my compadres in spiritual mischief, my friends, my sounding board. If I write about something, it’s because I’m genuinely excited about it.

Financial capital, the goal of affiliate marketing, has glaring limitations. It’s fine, but it’s not why we’re here. The riches I talk about in my new book, Thank and Grow Rich, are not the kind you find in a bank.

One of the chapters, in fact, is called Becoming the Warren Buffet of Happiness. The book talks about amassing a different kind of capital. Five different kinds: spiritual capital, social capital, creative capital, adventure capital and alchemic capital.

We acquire these riches by getting on a frequency of joy and gratitude. By taking off the blinders that block the presence and the radiance and the unforced generosity of the universe.

My service is to this presence. And to you, my dear friends, who have put a little bit of trust in me. For that, I say thank you, thank you, thank you.

  2. Bless ur Soul !

Let’s shout this from the highest mountain…for those with ears to hear.

I am in a HUGE shift, long story as usual…actually I take that back. HA !

I AM one with God and that is all I need to feel at the moment. My thoughts are in alignment with God’s as Wayne Dyer would say.

If you ever need graphic work, photoshop, watercolor, etc. reach out….no strings attached. Maybe we can barter artwork for a book 🙂 http://www.kauaistars.com (a few watercolor examples). I AM in the IT industry as a computer consultant and the Universe has me shifting into something new and expansive.

    be well,

    Joanie

  3. I love your blog and book E2….I called Hay House requesting that you make a CD for E3…your voice brings it to life…please do it!

    1. Thanks! I appreciate your enthusiasm. Hay House has already recorded E-Cubed using a voice actress. Maybe I’ll record the new book, though!

    1. I get lots of emails from people requesting to put an ad or a link on my site. But that’s not why I’m doing this. And as for affiliate programs, they’re probably cool, but not my thing.

  4. Thank you Pam, I soooo look forward to reading your emails for the exact reason you’ve just explained, you come across as genuine. Thank you thank you thank you🙂🙂🙂 💚💙❤️💛💜💕

With much love and light Judy

  5. Thanks Pam! For my own business, I choose the same ideals. Giving value, community and service, because I’m grateful to be able to provide to so many. It’s nice to know others feel the same. I love the title of your new book! Be well!

have your books and have enjoy your blog…after your last political comment decided to give you one more chance, thinking you truly meant to not use this forum for your political views.. however, it did not get by myself and others the “out-trump” comment…you cannot help yourself to dip into politics….and as you are apparently part of the problem as a non-trump…we and others will no longer support you…..as you truly think we are not cleaver enough or you are too full of yourself to  not help yourself and your ego comment about our next president.

  7. Hi Pam!
Do you know how many Think and Grow Rich books there are available on iBooks? Just changing that one letter – from I to A – can make such a big difference, open so many possibilities. I look forward to reading your book! (Probably won’t get back to Omega this year.)

    1. Hey Pam,
Your posts never cease to uplift an amaze me. Your candor, thought processes, and sheer delight in living always lift me up!!!

Count me among your devoted followers and beam ‘machines’ lol!

  8. Hi Pam,

I eagerly await every blog post:-) each time you unfailingly lift our spirits and bring that smile on our lips. Love the way you write ,.. Hoping to see you here in my beautiful country India!
    Stay blessed! 🙂

  9. I’m so ordering this! Thank you! I don’t know if you read these, or if someone else does, but your books and posts have given me the courage to step up to my calling, where I was too afraid of failing before so I just did EVERYTHING else BUT that one thing I knew I wanted to do. I’ve had success, but it’s never filled my heart because I knew I was playing small. Thank you. -Betsy

  10. Hi Pam,
You really practice what you preach, and that is why I always keep on reading your posts. I will never consider you a sort of “guru” because you are always at your readers’ side, sharing all what have worked with you.
That is why I also have to say:
    Thank you, comadre!

  11. Beautiful! And congrats about your new book sales – how awesome is that?! A few years ago, when I was still figuring out all of the spiritual stuff, healing, abundance, etc., I was able to connect the dots to see that when I heal myself and my own issues, that in and of itself will increase my abundance it will improve my relationships, and my physical and mental health will be better. I’m really getting the message that it is truly an inside job. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and experiences here, for each of us to benefit.

  12. I have recommend your books to all of my partners in my direct sales business (affiliate marketing?) and have also trained on these principles. I give credit to E-Squared for my huge success in this type of business! Beats trading time for money any day! Thank you!

  13. I love your books and pass the information on to many people including partners in my direct selling (affiliate marketing?) business. I have used the principles I have learned in your books and articles to help many people with wellness, weight loss, wealth, and life abundance. I thank you and applaud those that have found ways to utilize what you teach to help them as well.
I even teach on this and help people see that there is a better way than trading time for money. You are doing a lot of good and I am grateful!

  14. Like so many others, I’ve been eagerly awaiting your new book! LOVE the title, thank you for sharing your amazingness with us. Now, I know your goal isn’t money-focused, yet I’m thrilled to pre-order. Only I can’t find it on Amazon to be able to do so! (And I consider myself Amazon-savvy.) Could be that I’m so off-the-charts excited that I’ve completely and temporarily lost my search skills, but in the meantime could ya help a gal out? Do you mind quietly posting a link, or maybe an online remedial course in searching by author, title, and pre-order? Thank you for your grace.

Here’s something (else) that made me smile while searching Amazon: a system-generated “Related Searches” for Pam Grout gave me “gruesome playground injuries.” I think I’ll stay away from clicking on that.

Unless it takes me to pre-order your new book…?!? ;D

      1. Thank you, Pam!! I just pre-ordered your new book! I’ll also get the Kindle version when it’s available. 🙂

In my opinion, a more appropriate “Related Search” would be something like “glorious infinite playground”. Thank you for helping us all rediscover that that’s what life is!

  15. Once again I thank you and bless you for the way you choose to live and share this with others! You are an amazing inspiration!!

  16. What can I say, love you, your writings, can’t wait to meet you…and of course get your latest book. xo

  17. Hi Pam – love your blogs and E squared. Just clicked the link to Amazon and noticed you only have a print version of Thank & Grow Rich. I have lifelong eye problems and book type is just too small. I hope there will be an audio version.
    thank you
    Jackie

    1. Hi Jackie–I’m sure there will be an audio version. Usually Hay House makes that decision after the print book has been around for awhile. So you might have to wait a bit, but it’ll eventually come your way. Thanks for asking!

  18. Thank you, thank you ,thank you, can’t tell you what your wonderful books have done for me, currently reading E-Cubed, I’m in the UK so not available to pre-order here yet, but it’s sure worth the wait!!!!!

  19. Thank you Pam! So many just want us on a list to sell every worldly promise they can come up with for a profit.

  20. Oh Pam how very exciting for you…and for us! goosebumps reading your post. cannot wait to read.

    1. Goosebumps are good. Means God’s in the room. Course, it always is. Means, I guess, that we’re suddenly aware of It’s presence.

  21. What a beautiful post! Thank you Pam for being you and all the magic you bring to the world with your writing.

  22. Pam- I am inspired by your willingness to live your values! I look forward to reading your new book.

  23. Love the 5 different types of capital. Thank you for bringing attention to this and not feeding the fear of scarcity as many do by focusing on financial capital!.

    1. The capital I talk about in the book is far superior and often leads to financial capital. But it’s not, as I said, why we’re here.

  24. I almost put in a pre-order for your latest book with Amazon…then I caught myself. I want to buy it from a local book store. I will place a pre-order (if available) from the Raven Bookstore; or I will simply keep checking in with them to see if they have copies for sale yet. I look forward to reading Thank and Grow Rich!

  25. Blessings and congratulations on your book, just pre-ordered on Amazon. I love your blog and look forward to seeing your email in my in box, I must say that very often the Universe speaks to me through you. Keep the, messages coming 💜💜💜

  26. Congratulations on your book. I am going to order it now. I always look forward to reading the posts you share to my email and consider you part of my Tribe. They always give me food for thought on my own journey and help bring in the lightness when my EGO gets in the way. For this I am always grateful.

  27. I KNEW there was something different about your blog, but only realized it lacked the “NOISE” of all the other stuff on the ‘net when you mentioned it! That’s why I always read everything you publish- no distractions!
Keep up the good work, compadre!

  28. Hi Pam,

I am uber excited about your new book! I love your style of writing and despite having read a million and one books about the LoA, your books are ones I often return to time and time again, and recommend to my clients.

Sadly we can’t pre order your book on Amazon in the UK! Will have to manifest a way to get it 🙂

    Best wishes,

    Sara
