Lessons learned on the pity pot

“You move away from reality when you believe there is a legitimate reason to suffer.” –Byron Katie

Judgment by Rosea Lake

Okay, so I’ve been a bit blah this week, not really motivated to do much. I laid under my down comforter, read, called friends, worried about stuff.

And this morning I woke up realizing what a powerful lesson I created for myself. I learned, once again (don’t you love how opportunities to grow never stop circling the wagons?) that my judgments are the only thing blocking the Truth of who I am.

Like everybody else, I am a radiating transmitter tower constantly sending out signals. I draw to myself exact vibrational matches to what I expect, what I believe.

And when I judge myself (yes, I was berating myself for not being motivated, not living up to the ideas I write about), the love and joy of the universe (in other words Truth) can’t get through my cloud. It bounces right off my judgments, faithfully letting through only what I choose to perceive.

I woke up this morning totally getting how exciting this it. Totally appreciating how cool it is that I create it all and that, by simply choosing to love it all and own it all (my judgments about myself can get quite creative, they’re often Oscar-worthy), I get even more love and joy. Right now, with this lesson under my belt, I am buzzing and happy and so grateful that for several days this week, I got to see a perfect example of my infinite power of creation in living color.

As the old idiom suggests, “It’s all good.”

Thank you, universe!! Thank you, friends.

And, as I always like to say on Fridays, “Have the best weekend of your life.”

I know I will.

  1. Hello Pam,

I finished E3 yesterday and I am so appreciative to you for writing and sharing this book with humanity.

I took a picture of myself holding an Ethiopian travel guidebook a few weeks ago and then proceeded to not post it to your FB wall. The intention behind the picture was to manifest the perfect employment position for myself in Ethiopia. This is something I have been actively pursuing since I graduated in May 2014 from graduate school. It has been a humbling and discerning process for me.

Yesterday I received the phone call eliciting the very invitation I wanted to receive!!!!! I was crying with joy as I accepted the offer. After I ended the call I jumped all the over the house shouting, “Thank you, Universe, Thank you!” The cat very calmly ignored me and continued with her grooming.

I wanted to share this with you because your mantra of “something amazingly awesome is going to happen to me today” has pulled me through the not quite as comfortable moments of this journey. Thank you for the beautiful love and light you share with us all.

    Happy glorious Friday to you!

    Warmest regards, Susan

  2. soooooo nice to see that you are “REAL” keep sharing that important aspect of yourself, i think it is as important as the other good things you throw out to us…….being real is a beautiful and awesome truth…..

  3. Increasingly, with every passing moment, I’m learning new lessons and appreciation for all that life has to offer. Your words are part of those lessons and I do appreciate all that you give of yourself. Have a wonderful weekend and blessed life!

  4. Thanks Pam! I really enjoyed this post since it showed me that you also at times struggle with Remembering the Truth. It makes your writing even more accessible knowing that it’s normal and ok to have some down days once and awhile. ( it is, right?) For me I feel like life is so much about Remembering. For some reason we keep forgetting-and helping each other and ourselves to remember is an important, holy assignment.
    👍✌️🙏🌞💙💌

  5. It does seem to always come back to gratitude, doesn’t it? So inspiring to remember we are all on this journey together! Thanks for sharing yourself, Pam <3

  6. I can’t tell you how much I needed this email today. I thought it was just me. I read all the books, I’m a certified life coach and the “go-to person” everyone seeks for advice. However, I felt such a deep despair and fear over the past week…I was doubting everything.

Like you, I realized it’s just me in my head creating whatever I create. Some days it happens without effort other days it takes every brain cell to be present. But it’s still a choice no matter what.

This email was a very timely reminder.

    So thank you.

  7. Glad to see you’re feeling back on top again! I think there were some “blah’s” going around the past several weeks … I came down with a case of it myself! Peace, Joseph

  8. Awareness is a beautiful thing……that one moment knowing how we can change everything we with our thoughts is a gift. Thanks for keeping it real once again Pam.

  9. HI Pam,

Thanks as always for your encouragement. I just read E Squared and of course the Universe is showing up in a major way. I am so excited to keep creating experiments. It is indeed the highest skill a human can learn….to pivot my thoughts to another focus. There is nothing stopping that process but me.

Your note today was appreciated, I am glad to be a fan!

  10. I think this is the true authenticity and realness that I love from you. I think you are a wonderful example of humanity. The human experience can lead us to places and spaces of not feeling our best and if we are conscious enough, we can get a lesson from it. I applaud your ability to recognize and to share your experience with us. We all have to remember that we are on a continuous journey of growth and development. We already have it all yet we often forget……..Thanks so much Pam!

  11. LOVE THIS!!!! It is so refreshing too to hear from someone who many deem as a “mentor” share their own vulnerability. I swear, just when we FEAR our vulnerability will cost us credibility, we wind up CREATING MORE CREDIBILITY and even giving others permission to do the same! I LOVE HOW AUTHENTICALLY YOU EXPRESS, Pam!

  12. I like to think of these down times as well down times. I don’t want to live full on all the time. Sometimes I want to sit around and read etc. The trick is not beating yourself up about it and just enjoy it.

  13. Nothing at all wrong with “lying under a down comforter, reading and calling friends”….just forget the blah and worries. Enjoy the time to rest and recuperate. it is a gift, enjoy it.

  14. WOW! !!!How did you know I was on the pity potty this week? ? :):)
I’m getting off right now and getting happy! !!!
    Thanks again Pam! !!!
    You rock!!!!:):) )

  15. If there’s any benefit to knowing the truth, it must include the relief that comes from not beating yourself up that you didn’t apply what you know, consistently.

  16. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who, at times, entertains those pity parties. When I find myself wallowing, I recite a vintage poem by John Oxenham:”To every man there openeth a way, and ways, and a way. And the high soul climbs the high way, and the low soul gropes the low; and in between, on the misty flats, the rest drift to and fro. But to every man there openeth a high way and a low, and every man decideth the way his soul shall go.” It is a reminder for me to take active control of my thoughts and not just “drift to and fro.” I don’t beat myself up so much for the drifting – but, as you said, use it as a lesson as to how magical and powerful I really am, just by chosing a different thought.

Let’s all take the high way this weekend and love every minute of it !!

  19. Pam, I know I am a good person and a good parent. I have positive loving thoughts and expect and hope for good things for my kids and myself. In the face of this like many other people, especially women, in Britain we have faced abusive negative people and influence in family courts which have denied our basic human rights. This has happened for years. How is the universe working when innocent people get treated badly by what lawyers in the system call it the dark side? We don’t ask for or deserve this. We want to be treated like decent human beings and have the love we deserve. In Britain we are treated cruelly with no justification. They don’t care.

  20. Love the way you write.
This post has been floating around for a bit now but it eventually found me.
That little voice serves us well. When we can see it, talk about it, cry about it, write about it and above all laugh about it, we can then make that incredibly uplifting life changing choice of making it our friend. Its part of who we are. We can give it a hug and love it that little bit each more.
“Choice has more power when we take action”.
    Love Steve.
