Don’t know how to do or get something? Pretend that you do.

“The body appears to be largely self-motivated and independent, yet it actually responds only to the intentions of the mind.”—A Course in Miracles

I get a lot of emails that start with this phrase: You’re never going to believe this.

Since I experience what some call “weird and miraculous things” on a daily basis, I always believe it. In fact, if you’ve read E-Cubed, you know I wrote a whole chapter about “weird and miraculous things.” It’s called “Well, Duh!”

Yesterday, when being interviewed for an article about visualization for the magazine, Fast Company, the reporter asked me what I say to skeptics. As she pointed out, the majority of her readers fall squarely into that disbelievers category.

While I didn’t say this, I immediately thought of a line Anita Moorjani told me in London. ”Every time I hear that not everybody buys this stuff, I almost fall off my unicorn.”

Well, the story I was sent this morning falls into the unicorn category. Especially if you’re one of those people who believe your limited physical body is all there is.

With no further adieu, here’s the story from Pam Matera (doesn’t she have a cool first name?) who was doing the 101 Dalmations Experiment from E-Squared:

Several years ago I was in a relationship with Ted, a musician. We lived in Sarasota Florida. A friend of his, Benji, also a musician, would come and visit us. I enjoyed his visits, always full of energy and life, and we liked the same books. We would stay up all night talking.

One of the books he recommended was Blink by Malcom Gladwell. I read it and loved it. Ted and I broke up, and I never saw Benji again.

I knew Benji was the perfect person to communicate with for the experiment. I very much wanted to hear from him. So all day I remembered his visits, and the fun we had. I couldn’t wait to hear from him! I told a friend about the experiment, and she was excited to hear about my results.

I decided to Google him (Benji was a keyboard player for a popular band in the eighties) so I knew I would find pictures of him. I thought that would help me manifest contact. Well, imagine how sad I was to find out he had died two years ago. It was shocking to me. I told my friend, and she said that was the end of the experiment. I thought about that and decided to keep an open mind and heart, and the universe would hear me.

The following Monday I was at jury duty, in a room with many strangers in an assigned seat, bored out of my head. For some reason I had to know what the man next to me was reading. It was Blink by Malcom Gladwell. The book Beni told me to read. It gave me goosebumps!

Then on the way home, the host on a talk radio program announced he was going to play an interview with someone, and the person being interviewed was Malcom Gladwell. Wow, twice in one day. Then I told my friend what happened she couldn’t believe it. She called me later that day and asked if I was sitting down. Her a/c was on the fritz, so she was looking for the paperwork for her a/c system in a kitchen drawer, and what do you think she found? A copy of Blink by, you guessed it! She had never heard of the book, and had no idea how it got there.

And lastly, my friends, I’ll repeat what I often suggest on Friday: Decide to have the best weekend of your life.

  1. Hi Pam,

This reminded me of an incident that happened to me this week…

My youngest sister, Lisa, passed away in August and before she passed away I laid down beside her and told her to please come visit me anytime. On Tuesday, my sister Kim’s birthday, her and my other sister, Gina, were talking about Lisa and how much we missed her. Gina had send Kim a birthday card with a picture of Lisa and Kim together years ago. That day I got a Christmas card from another sister and inside was a letter Lisa had written to me back in 2010! My sister, Dianne, had found it amongst many blank cards Lisa had collected. The letter was so sweet and thanked me and my husband for all that we did for her youngest son and what a difference we made in his life.

The story doesn’t end there…that night I was woken up by my husband’s alarm clock. It made a noise and then the bed shook…it brought me right out of my sleep. When I looked at the clock, which the alarm hadn’t been set, it said 3:33. Those are the numbers I always see over the years in so many things. I think Lisa wanted to let me know that she is here…where I can see her or not ☺

Thought I’d share and have a very Merry Christmas and a spectacular New Year!

    Warmest wishes,

    Julia

  2. I love it! The FP is dropping love bombs left and right to those who allow and are noticing! I am happy to be a member of that club. It IS the best weekend ever in Washburn, Wisconsin, just a little town on a big lake, but home sweet home to me.

  3. Pam, that story is so excellent. This will be the best weekend of my life, because I have no idea how we’re paying the mortgage and our next round of bills come January 5th, but the universe has our back! I hope the best for your weekend, too! Cheers!

  4. Probably THE best blog post I have every read. Thank you! I have been working with energy for more than 15 years and your experiments have brought it home and expanded my world in an amazing way. 🙂

  5. I love reading your posts Pam, I am a believer of the FP but need to consciously think about it as I forget with my busy life. Your blog is always a timely reminder of what can be achieved

  6. Lovely article, and frankly, bellievable 🙂 today I am meeting a buyer for a property I have who has been a big truble for more than a year. I decided I should not do my usual work for today but just read books or articles about the law of attraction and prosperity to be prepared for the meting. while drinking coffee I thought “what was the name of this woman who wrote this book I read on summer… Pam Gout… ok” I don’t know why I thought so, and I don’t really remember names unless I have read more than 3 books of an author. and I am sure I am not in Pam’s emailing list. so, when I open my emails and read an article by Pam, I was astonished… and I thought… I am on the right path. My idea to stick my spirit and mind in the divine prosperity and LOA is what is really needed… isn’t it a sign?

  7. Your posts always end up putting a smile on my face. Thank you Pam!
