“Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.”—Frank Zappa

“There comes a point when you know, without doubt, without hesitation, that you cannot go back to your old life. You cannot be who you once were and also have a new life with new riches.”—Julie McIntyre

So, I fell this morning at pickleball, a huge, embarrassing spill right in front of 11 other players. My Hay House teleseminar on Tuesday was not the huge success I had hoped for. I guess what I’m trying to say is my old school belief systems (AKA: my B.S.) is trying to get my attention.

In fact, it has been quite vigilant this week. But here’s what I know.

Anytime I feel guilt or doubt or choose to look upon lack or limitation, the old belief system is in command.

My job, at that point, is to a) recognize it, b) ask for help from the Holy Spirit and c) eventually throw out the old script.

The old belief system, the critical self-chatter is an outdated, boring old re-run and, as far as I’m concerned, it’s time to rip that sucker to shreds.

The potential for getting bucked off the horse is always there.

But so is the question: “How long am I going to lay there before I decide to get back up in the saddle?”

  1. Dear wonderful Pam ~ Please tell me what caused you to believe that your Hay House teleseminar was not a success? I can’t imagine that anything you offer up in love and service to others is not well received! I, for one, love your book and am diligently working through all of the experiments. If you inspire just ONE person to see things differently and open up their minds to a new perspective on what is Truth, then you have succeeded beyond anyone’s earthly expectations. And when you get right down to it, the only expectations that matter are from God–and you are perfect in God’s eyes. Thank you for your writing, your ideas and your Spirit. Namaskar (I salute the Divinity in you).

    1. Your ‘Namaskar’ caught my attention. Generally the word ‘Namaste’ is used by the people who don’t reside in India. I am from India and I was happy to notice your Namaskar _/\_

  2. Pam I have really enjoyed your post. I also am on my way to play pickelball!
We have a very active group of players. If you are ever in the Tahoe/ Truckee
area let me know. Love all that you do.

    1. I’d love to play pickleball in Tahoe/Truckee. It’s my new favorite thing. I’m a long-time tennis player, but pickleball is so great because it’s so social. It really is a blast–even when I fall down and skin my knees and my ego.

  3. Thanks for reminding me that we all have those moments. I’ve had a few myself lately, but I love knowing that it is so temporary and I can get back up as soon as I’m ready. I bet your already back in the saddle. 🙂

  4. Hang in Pam,

Your new to the world. People are loving your book slowly one by one.

    Give it time.

    Much Success to you!

    Yours Truly Cat Sansone

  5. I attended your Hay House seminar. I stopped listening once the questions part began, because actually I wanted to ask ” did they read the book?” Probably should have invited those who have had incredible experiences since reading AND working with your book. Yesterday I had one of the most amazing days in my life. I was asked by Hay House online seminar manager to record an email letter I had sent in support of John Holland’s Connect to Spirit Seminar. After we did that, Muni asked me to hold on as some one wanted to speak with me….that someone was John a Holland himself! Not only will they air my recording on his show this coming Monday, I am being gifted with bundle of John’s books, conference passes to I Can Do It for both this year and next year when I will meet John Holland! After our conversation, Muni spoke more to me and I asked if they always do these kind of things at Hay House and he said they never did before. He just couldn’t stop thinking about the email of gratitude that I had written. I thanked him for being my “fairy Godfather!” This made me feel everything is truly possible for my life. I was so excited, couldn’t sleep until 4:30AM! If John Holland could call me, Everything is possible! All my dreams can manifest.
. Now I want to share that my teaching position of 25 years was terminated on June 25th very suddenly and without warning! I have been consciously working with deleting “the resisters” from my life. I have been listening and learning from John Holland and other Hay House authors for quite a while. I use a walker because of limited mobility and balance challenges…which is really why I feel I was terminated from my position as Resource Teacher, but they wouldn’t ever admit that truth. Anyway, I have been reading and re reading your E2 book and working with your experiments. The one I do daily is The Jenny Craig experiment because I have been trying to lose weight since I was 5 years old…and this time it seems to really be working…letting go of the resisters of negative chatter. Eating has become a sacred ritual…even got weepy with gratitude one day holding a lemon in my hand! How did all of these glorious fruits and vegetables ever manifest? How amazing the Creative Forces behind all of the abundance at our disposal. So I credit your book E2 for opening and increasing my awareness of the infinite possibilities that I may attract to my life as I let go of whatever may hold me back. I can walk again…I will teach again. I think E2 should be required reading for everyone on the planet, especially for parents and teachers who are guiding the newly incarnated. Take a deep breathe and mount your saddle again. Looking forward to your E4 book. I think that is what you mentioned on the webinar. I have been reading your other blogs as well. Thank you for your glorious work.

  6. What a timely post for me, as I just had the tiniest little meltdown (wink, wink) about how things aren’t going well. Time to re-read E2, and remind myself of what’s possible! I’m writing this line down from your blog:” Anytime I feel guilt or doubt or choose to look upon lack or limitation, the old belief system is in command.” I love that you call it the B.S.! I’m sorry about your week, Pam, but I want you to know how much you’ve changed my life for the better, and I’m sure there are thousands (or more!) who feel the same way. Blessings to you! <3

  7. Sending soothing, peace, ease and flow to you, Pam!
Bless our hearts when we have those days.
My Grandaddy always told me when I was a little girl, “Don’t worry about falling off your horse, the ground will catch you.” Though, it was a long way down for me and I didn’t appreciate his wisdom at the time…He was absolutely right.

You are awesome and have already made such a difference in many lives.
Thanks for who you are and doing what you do.
I shared that Julie McIntyre quote on my FB page… thanks for bringing it to my attention. 🙂
    Have a blessed day!

  8. I too have been having one of those weeks. I find that if I acknowledge all of that old stuff and embrace it as a gift of lessons learned I can then free up my connection to the FP and be more in the present moment where I am full of gratitude for all of my life lessons and looking forward to choosing what comes next. I think that gratitude and choice are very uplifting for me and that seems to help.

  9. Hi Pam, this was a great post. It is refreshing to know that even best-selling self-help authors don’t have it all together every day! It also served as a good kick in the rear for me to quit my whining jag and think Gratitude. And if all else fails just remember this famous quote from Scarlett O’Hara: “After all, tomorrow is another day.”

  10. I believe you were reading my mind. I’ve been on that track going round and round and it had gotten so old that just the other day I said, “Get off this ride, time to move it along, girl.” And the past few days have felt a bit different and I’ve got my heart, eyes and ears open for all the newness that is coming my way (with much gratitude)! Thanks for the reminder and encouragement.

  11. this is so big. see, everyone falls off. it’s just about getting back on… the quote talks to what we were talking about last night, with stepping outside of our comfort zone.

    you’re awesome… thanks for being YOU 🙂

  12. Have to admit I too found your blog post refreshing as I also have been having a challenging week, especially today and while I don’t for a second wish you to have a negative time but when someone as awesomely inspirationally positive as yourself sometimes finds things challenging it actually helps me tackle my B.S because it was telling me I wasn’t practicing what I preach, I should not have let these negative situations effect me etc etc etc. I felt alone and a failure now it reminds me that no matter how awesome anyone is we are all human and sometimes we just have ‘those days’ and it doesn’t mean we are bad or a failure and most of all by you posting your experiences we are not alone.

I read a book a short time ago and to me honest I can’t remember which one but I do remember it was saying something about something that happens on the sun that can actually effect our collective emotions here on earth and that these collective behaviour patterns are being monitored all over the world and there are websites that you can track this activity on the sun and advises not to begin an intention experiment when this activity on the sun is particularly high. I know that’s not the most eloquent explanation (I blame the sun) but it may explain why try as we might not to, many of us are having a particularly challenging time.

Love to you and love to all your readers and contributors x

    1. Yes high solar activity does affect Earth electromagnetic field and our collective and individual emotional and intellectual responses!

  13. Pam, I’m sure you’re buoyed by the volume of supportive comments you’re receiving. I’m not surprised by them at all – and I’m sure you’re not either. Because you know, in your heart, that you deserve every good thing that’s been coming your way recently (and more).

As I know you’ve also found, one of the coolest things about the journey of raising our beliefs to align with our desires is jettisoning the need to call experiences “good” or “bad”. We definitely will call them “wanted” and “unwanted”, but rather than assigning the ultimate value of “good” or “bad” we can simply choose to call them “information”. And I know I’m “preaching to the choir” with you (and most of this site’s readers) here when I write this: when we call our experiences “information” instead of “good” or “bad” we leave open the infinite possibilities that, literally, exist in the quantum field (in every, single moment). When we refrain from the “good” or “bad” labels, in fact, we allow the quantum field to do what it does best: connect the dots for us, on the way to the manifestation of our desires, in, often, the most unusual and unexpected ways. In this sense, we stop handcuffing the universe because we’re no longer painting the quantum field into a corner by telling it, “This experience is good!” and “This experience is bad!”

So, when I read that you didn’t feel your Hay House event was as big a success as you’d hoped, you know what I thought? “SO WHAT?!” Not “so what” as in, “Who cares about your feelings” or “I don’t care that you’ve experienced an unwanted outcome”, but “so what” as in: while that result may have been unwanted, it means nothing bad in regards to the overall continued success of you, your energy, your writing, and E-Squared.

Unless, of course, you (and we) decide it means anything. And I, for one, am here to tell you that those Hay House results not only DON’T mean that your success train has been derailed (or even slowed in the slightest), but they also DON’T mean that Hay House stardom won’t be your eventual destination. Who knows how the quantum field will continue to connect your dots (except that IT WILL!)?

This I know: I love you and your energy. Thousands of us do. You rock. And none of us do “charity cases”, Pam. We know you’re the real deal. Your journey continues and I’m glad to call you a friend!

    Thank you for this post.

  14. As I read over the outpouring of love and support in response to your post today; if things had turned-up differently that wouldn’t have happened.

At least not as it has – so maybe that was the next needed evidence in your unfoldment.

I like this quote by Lao Tzu: “One who flows as life flows has solved the enigma of human existence and needs no other power.”

Count me among the people who know you bring light to the world.

  15. That was a really nice reminder to all of us (or should I just speak for myself?). It is such a wonderment that we have all gotten in such a habit to be negative. I find it so much within myself and it really takes a concerted effort to switch lanes. Sometimes I can, and sometimes I just let it put me in a funk before I say “Uh uh. The “liar” in my head is trying to take control again. Auto pilot I believe I’d call it…

  16. Pam!!! You are the best author I can’t wait for your next book!!! E Squared is nothing short of amazing- it’s so practical and spiritual at the same time, I’ve recommended it to everybody, bought my brother a copy for his birthday ( he’s the most sceptical man in the universe and for his sign he found something precious to him he’s been looking for for over 6 months- he’s now such a believer he’s even trying the wand experiment!) everybody LOVES your writing its AMAZING! So get back in that saddle girl and come out and do a tour for us in Australia! We’d love to see you!! Come on down!

    All the very best, Robyn

  17. I was so disappointed that I forgot about your hay house seminar! 🙁 I was taking a test for class and got distracted! I was really looking forward to that too! But thanks for this reminder as well.

  18. I had a hiccup today, too. It’s a nice test to to see if all I believe in can truly be applied when it all goes to shite. Funny enough, by the end of the day, the storm passes, the Universe rewards my detachment…onto the next step. None of it, NONE OF IT matters unless you’ve made an impact. Today. With love. You do that. Thanks. Now…where’s that horse…

  19. Pam, we can all relate to what you say on your post. Your authenticity is what makes us all connect with your story and what makes you such a compelling writer. I would focus on what went right on the teleseminar and continue enjoying pickleball (which I have no idea how to play!–I would probably fall too!)

  20. For what it’s worth, you’ve helped me tremendously. Maybe a good way to reframe your disappointment is to have a go-to thought as a pick-me-up. Perhaps thinking of your awesome book sales and random comments from strangers who’ve never met you but dearly appreciate you (like all these fab commenters) would be a handy replacement for those FAIL thoughts. You are making a positive difference with every word you write, and I look forward to reading all of them. 🙂
