“Seriously, how in the hell can you get bored in wonderland?”—Anna Brown

Hola, mis amigos! I’ve been out communing with the California redwoods, visiting Taz’s childhood bestie who, last Saturday night, had her first album release.
Yesterday, I flew to Mexico to my favorite community in the Sierra Madres—no redwoods, but lots of beautiful flora and fauna (there’s a hummingbird visiting me now on my veranda) and a whole community of people I love and adore.
During my week in California, I felt what I began calling my “spidey sense.” After just googling the term, I realize Spiderman uses his palpable, tingly sensations to avoid danger.
My tingle works just the opposite. It leads me on adventures. It presents meaningful, beautiful experiences I’m not expecting. It presents opportunities that reduced my vocabulary during the week to gushy “thank you, thank you, thank you’s.”
I’ve finally convinced my travel partners to cease from too-much planning. For me, it’s best not to have a daily schedule, to be open, to let the universe do its magic.
It makes most travelers too uncomfortable—to not know, to not have a set agenda. However, I notice that anything I know, anything I plan, while often fun, becomes a box, a trap that prevents me from seeing what else might be possible.
To name a few gifts from our perfect, open-hearted trip, we heard three Stanford researchers present fascinating talks at a BioX conference for students, we danced for two hours at a street party that just happened to feature music from two favorite bands (Steely Dan and Chicago) from our university days.

One morning, Mary said, “I’d really like to add some greenery to this vase of flowers (a bouquet we’d been gifted earlier in the week), but I don’t think our AirBnb hosts would appreciate us attacking their bushes.”
A few minutes later, as Patti and I were walking to a French bakery in the neighborhood, we noticed a pile of beautiful greenery that some gardener had just snipped and left behind on the sidewalk.
I’ll be here in Mexico for a month and I’m extremely happy to report that I have no idea what I’ll be doing (other than some writing, of course) and that I’m open and willing and extremely content in this reality field of surrender.
Love, love, love.
And, of course, #222 Forever!

NICE!!
Thank you for sharing this!!
De nada!
Sounds awesome! Bendiciones!
See you soon, friend!
Enjoy Mexico, Pam! I have your Living Big softcover next to me. It’s here to remind me to live bigger than my New York sensibilities typically allow.
Enjoy Living Big–that’s an oldie but goodie!
No agenda: the only lway to travel.
All else is futile!
Have fun!!! I agree , no planear mucho . Let the magic do his work.
Amor y Luz
Magic always does its work when we step aside!
Thank you dear Pam for the beautiful photos and stories from your current adventures, and for the reminder that magic is everywhere and is exactly how life works if we open up to that reality. “I’d really like some greenery” is my new true story reminder that whatever it is I desire, no matter how random, unlikely, bizarre or seemingly impossible it may be, I can receive it, especially if I get out of the way and just let the universe do its magic. Woohooo!! 🥳💃🕺🎉
Big ‘redwood tree’ hugs to you dear Pam, and best wishes for the rest of your adventuring. 😁🌳🌱🌲🤗
Thanks! No one hugs like a redwood!!
“This reality field of surrender!” I love that. And we try and live that way every day, as we traipse through Oz in our caravan like a couple of silver haired gypsies. (Some would say grey nomads lol). Thanks for the reminders Pam that we’re on the right track, even though we have no idea where we’re going!
Happy adventuring ❤️
Traipsing through OZ–sounds like a title for a blog post!
Indeed!! I’ve written many but thanks for the inspo!
Now that’s what I call being in the flow, enjoy every lovely flowing moment
I will. I will!
Enjoy the humming birds. I like your style Pam. I don’t want to be on any vacation with an itinerary. Or at least keep the itinerary loose and open to possibilities. 🤗
The hummingbirds were among the first to greet me upon arrival! Sheer magic!
I just love you. I do. Always have since I read your first book. I get excited when you are posting something. If you ever roll through Carmel by the Sea I just manifested a massive country house with a 3400 square foot barn ( oldest structure in Monterey County). I have a fabulous cottage on the property. It’s a magical place. Enjoy!
I just came to express my gratitude to Pam for always reminding me how much magic in the world, and saw your post! I grew up in Carmel, it’s such a special place. Love that synchronicity and love that you’re enjoying that property!
Now that sounds like a cottage I need to visit! I once wrote an article for Cooking Light about an art class in Carmel by the Sea. What a beautiful place!
Pam, I’m so grateful for your inspiring posts. This one really landed today. xoxox
So happy to hear that!
I am definitely moving in this direction also. And, it might amuse you to know, that I depend a lot on my Einstein rods when my Spidey sense is not working. I am often amazed at the answers, but I listen.
Those Einstein wands do come in handy!
I agree with Meghan. Something really special came through in this post. Ahh, and contentment, and a overwhelming reassurance of miracles hidden under our noses – made easier if we surrender. Thank you for every amazing share Pam. ❤️
Why thank you!!!
Oh I LOVE this! It reminds me also… so much space for joy, so much space for joy!
And also… you’ve written me to my spidey sense… which I have mistaken for fear in the past….
Good- my spidey sense has been tingling at me for 10 years+ to ask a lovely gentleman out who I’ve admired from a distance for too long…
Oooo- tingles that I thought were ‘oh what if… don’t do it.. etc’, are really ‘ oh Wow! How exciting…! What adventure lies ahead..!?!’
Love, love, love your nudges of joy … love the essence of who You are…I love YOU… and so I love Me!! And this life with all its twinkles in it!
Love

Joy
