Staying outside the loop

“The revolution isn’t out there. It’s in the 100,000 heartbeats you’ll have today, each one an opportunity to broadcast coherence or chaos into the shared field we all inhabit.”–Nipun Mehta

A question that was posed after last Friday’s post has stuck with me.

Lisa wanted to know how to use the “T’aint so” mindset while witnessing the current violence. I mentioned a couple thoughts in the comment section, but decided this very poignant question deserved a better answer.

I consciously choose to see beyond the violence. My focus is my unshakable belief that every single person has goodness inside them and that things always work out.

To question that unshakeable belief only causes decision fatigue. It causes me to doubt, to worry, to forget to be grateful.

So for me, it’s just a lot easier to focus on the ultimate truth. I don’t need multiple choice. I don’t need decision fatigue.

It might seem like a good use of time—it has certainly become a popular spectator sport—to keep tabs on what’s going on in the outside world. But for me, it only stokes the problem. Never once I have noticed my angst solving any problems.

To be totally transparent, I definitely have moments where I become obsessed, where I watch in sheer horror, but filling my noggin full of poison doesn’t get me where I want to go, doesn’t put me in a space of being the most effective person I can be.

So for me, focusing on just that one thing—gratitude that I live in a loving, perfect universe filled with loving, perfect friends—preserves my energy, my equanimity and keeps the channels open for guidance from the Dude.

Plus as today’s Course lesson points out, “I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.” So maybe today’s 100,000 heartbeats will resonant and add possibility to the shared field we all inhabit.

Have a great week, friends. I’ll be on the beach in Florida.

  1. Paraphrasing Eckart Tolle, we act as if producing emotion stands proxy to making the world do what we want. Instead, control what you can, let go the rest.

Always blessed by your perspectives, Groutski!! Thanks for being you!!

  2. I love this! My family has always told me “you live with your head in the sand”. I don’t believe we were meant to know everything that’s going on all over the world. Our ancestors just took care of their villages. Although I have compassion for every single human being I believe we are overwhelmed with information and I choose to be very careful of the content I digest. Love to all. ❤️❤️❤️🤗

  3. YES! YES! YES! And this doesn’t mean we don’t something if the thing is in our backyard but cultivating peace in ourselves is how we offer our best self to All.

  4. Hope you are in south Florida on the beach. I’m on the west coast in Sarasota and it is in the low 50’s here. In north FL it is snowing. But life is still very good. Stay warm. Be cool. Keep smiling!!

  5. Thank you for this message. It helps support what I know my daily focus needs to be, even though years.
    Lovingly, Kate

  7. Thank you 💖. I prefer to focus on my surroundings, family, friends, and community. The rest is a movie to me; the news lies and dramatizes everything. I get involved were I can make a different otherwise I send love to the world😀 I figure sending positive energy is way better then wallowing in negative energy. Sending abundance of love to everyone and the world.

  8. Thank you for putting your response to the violence so clearly. I believe it is true, and not easy for my ego to understand.

  9. My perspective is yes, there’s the madness and chaos and violence, but there’s also an equal and opposite reaction, where because of it, we’re witnessing more and more people becoming conscious, and aware and rising up to speak up, and help and show up for others in their neighborhoods, communities and the global space at large. There’s more consciousness now than ever before, and I believe that in time, light will really tip the scales. And in the meantime, we continue showing up in our spaces as our best selves. Love and light to all 💜

  10. We are all in this together. Thank you everyone for sharing its good that we lift one another up 💫

  11. I agree with you so full heartedly – but how do you respond to those who would say, “Well, that’s your privilege… you don’t have to pay attention to the going ons of the world because you are a white cis-gender female and these things do not threaten you as they do others.”

  12. Enjoy Florida Pam- Before Bama I lived in Coconut Creek! Have a magical and blessed day sunshine! {{Hedgehugs}}
