Sayonara to old assumptions, habits and beliefs

“It’s in times when division is fierce that we must reach for each other and hold each other much, much tighter.”—Chelan Harkin

Feliz miércoles, amigos!

Thought I’d take a minute to share a beautiful miracle that happened to me this morning.

Miracles, of course, happen on the daily. Heck, they’re happening every second of every day.

The one I’m about to share is classic ACIM which describes a miracle as “a shift in perception from fear to love.”

Today’s Course lesson (“I gladly make the ‘sacrifice’ of fear”) asks me to let go of self-deception, false images and other barriers I’ve been known to erect against love.

So here’s what went down:

Last week I struck up a conversation with a fellow gringo at a coffee shop. I happened to mention I was an author so he went home and googled me, landed on my website.

The next day, I got three urgent emails from him about how important it was that we get together again. His cryptic messages indicated he was desperate. He even tried to track me down through the community I visit here in Ajijic.

My noisy ego (you know that voice that will say or do anything to keep us from wholeness and joy) pounced. It made a strong case that I should probably steer clear.

But it didn’t feel quite right. So I decided to ask for guidance.

I wrote back and said I’d be open to meeting. Turns out he and his wife also lost a daughter when she was in her 20’s. Turns out, he was absolutely correct. The three of us did need to meet.

We ended up having what the Course calls a “Holy Encounter.” Two and a half hours of beautiful, meaningful sharing.

It was particularly poignant for me because A) I did just what today’s lesson advised (‘sacrificed’ fear) and B) I received even more evidence that the only limits that could ever hinder me are those in my mind.

I feel so blessed for the opportunity to share love and to surrender all false beliefs about people being separate or scary or different from me.

We’re all, to paraphrase the old Firesign Theatre, beautiful bozos on the very same bus.

Oceans of love, my friends!

  1. To paraphrase Kurt Vonnegut’s Uncle Alex: if that isn’t a beautiful story, I don’t know what is! 💞

  2. Oh you beautiful beautiful soul Pam.
Thank you for showing up and reminding us of who we really are.
    🫶🙏🏻🥰

  3. Beautiful bozos on the very same bus!! Love it! And I also love how when we let go of fear and tune into love, magic happens. Thanks for the timely reminder dear Pam 🥰🦋🌷🌏

  4. Of course you did!!!!
    I love you!!!!
(Not to mention I saw an adorable little girl’s pink dress with a Christmas Hedgehog on the front!)

  5. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome miracle! I’m so glad you went and met these wonderful people
But I’m not surprised as you are an excellent teacher and example of ACIM’s! We have much to share on this topic. When the time is ripe we will rendezvous 💜🤗💜
    For now enjoy Mexico. #222

  6. I always enjoy reading your posts. Thank you for taking the time to write. I loved the meeting you had with the two individuals who also lost a daughter in her twenties. My heart breaks every time I remember you lost Taz. I have a daughter who is 64 years old now. I am so eternally grateful to still have her because I am aware of the ways I could lose her. Hard to explain here, how I feel. I just feel so lucky to have her, still! You are living your life so beautifully! Good for you and I have read most of your books. Thank you!

  7. I had a miracle myself today. I had remove polyps of my colon and the results were good. The polyps were harmless. I am so grateful.

  8. I really needed this post today because I have been very fearful lately! Your book “Thank and Grow Rich” changed my life and I have received so many miracles from the universe from both my sons’ college educations being completely paid for (as you say: “The Universe was really showing off here!”) to overseas trips, holidays and gifts. Thank you for sharing this incredible book with the world!

  9. Good morning! Was exactly my subject this week. Thank you for sharing your experience. Perceptions get to unfold in beauty and truth of opening up encounters of love we would otherwise miss! Sitting with that 🥰love and countless gratitude and sparkles of gold to you!

  10. Morning Pam. Thanks for sharing your stories. I love to hear them. A reminder for us all to keep an open heart and open mind and know that we are all connected and things are never as they might seem. They are far better! I’m on the second round of reading your ACIM book – a chapter every morning to ruminate on. I got to day 365 and had to start again, it’s a daily ritual now.
Many years ago I manifested money in the street after reading E-squared (£20 note but hey it worked!) And just recently my mom and I both woke during the night at exactly 2:22. The angels watching over us.
Thank you for all you do. Important work.
    With love and best wishes.

  11. Wonderful story! Such a good choice you made, reminding all of us… to pause… and make the same choice, when it comes up, as it will…

  12. I found you just over 4 years ago after my only child, 19 yo son was killed in an RTA, the pain was so bad I didn’t know where to put myself, I wondered how I would survive! I think you had lost your daughter the year previously and your strength and faith really helped and inspired me, and has been doing so ever since, God bless you!

    1. That is such a great realization–that we are doing this to ourselves. I read this line in the Course today: “You do not see that only you demand sacrifice and only of yourself.”

  13. My wife and I also lost a beautiful daughter suddenly at age 28. While at first it was almost unbearable, much love and many positive developments have followed. Her spirit and energy are with us.

  14. I listened to an interview you had with Dawson Church..from an extended resource from his book Mind to Matter… which led me to your blog..and to your suggested chat with a spiritual power. I have been suffering from grief this past year and began doing a guided meditation each morning for the last several months. That and EFT has helped tremendously.
So I thought, though I wasn’t entirely comfortable or convinced, I would give it a try. I had the most amazing conversation with a very kind and loving being. What an enjoyable experience! I feel so at peace. I will definitely continue for thirty days, but even if this is the only day that worked….thank you.

  15. Thank you for the inspiring blog. I am now reading Thank and Grow Rich, the first of your books I’ve read (and not the last, guaranteed). I thought I would look up your blog and, wow, talk about syncronicity. The 222 Foundation was a shocker. That number has so much special meaning to me and lots of others. In the 1980’s a few of us moved into a house at 222 Spring Street. We had gotten into the Grateful Dead and we had control of 4 apartments in this house and turned it into a total Dead Head party house. I can’t count the beautiful memories and friends made at that house over the 8 year period we lived there.

Fast forward to today, and while I’m still an avid Dead Head, my habits have mellowed since I became a parent. Then I found another connection with you. Two years ago I lost my 19 year old son in a car accident. I could never imagine feeling this kind of grief. I’m hoping a gratitude practice will help me get through it as I slowly try to bring joy back into my life. Unfortunately, I’m not seeing any signs from my son, but always on the lookout. I know other parents who do get signs. Maybe I’m missing them.

I’ll be reading your posts and looking for inspiration in getting through this hard time. I am so grateful to you for your writing and how much it is already helping me. Thank you and bless you on your journey.
