For the sheer joy of it

“You are the teacher and healer you’ve been waiting for.”—Byron Katie

Perhaps my favorite line from my book, Art and Soul, Reloaded, is this: “The only book that will ever change your life is the one you write yourself.”

Admittedly, it’s not what a marketing consultant would want me to say. Doesn’t really encourage robust sales.

But that’s one of the traps we’ve been stuck in, the Skinner’s box that trains us to mindlessly, habitually react.

For far too long, we’ve been listening to directives from people who…well…want something from us, who believe the more, more, more narrative. We’ve totally bought the idea that “something is missing and that somebody out there, some THING out there is going to provide it. Better keep looking.”

We really don’t need all the things we’re constantly encouraged to need.

Especially when everything we really need—including answers and ideas and healing—resides right here, immovably inside us.

I laughed at one of the comments about Neale Donald Walsch’s book, Conversations with God. Rebecca said, “It never occurred to me to have my own conversation.”

Right now, collaborating with…I still haven’t settled on just one name for this loving Chatty Cathy…is the most rewarding part of my day. I’m finding it to be a loving and wise partner.

Mostly, it’s a huge relief to realize that something that’s not me is looking out for my good. It’s comforting to feel the presence of an invisible energy realm that actually seems to like me. That, from what I can tell, has always been there, hiding quietly behind my habits and mindless reactions, waiting for its moment to have the floor.

Have a fabulous weekend, you gorgeous you’s!! Make it the best—yes, it can keep getting better—weekend of your life.

#222 Forever!

  1. I also had a life event! Just after opening that inner door, a moment where I realized the Universe has been throwing an Endless Light Party in my Mind. *…Without me!

  2. I started writing yesterday and I first started crying. Not from pain but from relief. It feels so
Much more real in the writing. It felt hopeful and I know this might sound crazy but an inner voice said that it was time to step out of hope and into realization . Hope is a step in the journey , not the end of the journey. It made sense to me and made me feel lighter so I am trying not to analyze and just be grateful for connecting. Have a beautiful day !

  3. I just started my daily 2-way conversations 5 days ago. I was struggling with how to address God, Spirit, etc. (I couldn’t land on anything) so I decided to ask! And I received the answer. I heard “Call me Prince of Peace–or PoP for short!” I was like, “That’s it!!” because I always think of Peace when I think of God. So now my conversations will start with Dear PoP. 😊

      1. I love it too Karen! And straightaway I thought of Grandpop, or GrandPoP, which feels like a lovely, warm, gentle name for God. So thanks for sharing this special name with us Janet. 🙏😇

  4. It’s interesting isn’t it how most of us are taught from a young age to look to everyone and everything else for guidance, direction, truth, wisdom, etc instead of being taught to trust our own inner knowing. What a different world it would be if we were all allowed to listen to and trust our own inner voice from the very beginning of our life, and to be encouraged to develop a relationship with The Spirit of The Universe that we can access within. 🙏😇
I, too, when reading Neale Donald Walsch’s book, had never considered I could also have a conversation with God. I remember thinking to myself at the time “who does this guy think he is? How come he was chosen as the vehicle for God’s truth for the modern world?” 😬 yep, I know, big judgement going on there!! But it didn’t ever occur to me that he was having his own conversation and that every single one of us could have our own conversation with God too! So thank you Pam for opening our eyes and hearts to this truth – that God/ The Dude/ The Voice Within or whatever we call it, is available to each and every one of us to have a conversation with at any time, any place, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for EVER! And to know that, as you say, it appears this Presence actually likes us, is looking out for us, and has been there with us all along “hiding quietly behind [our] habits and mindless reactions just waiting for its moment to have the floor.” Yes! So exciting! Woohoo!! Here’s to many, many more marvellous ‘conversations with god’ for each one of us here and all around the would. 😁🌏⭐️🦋🌝

  5. Oh…a wonderful weekend!
I’ve started it- a loooong chat with the Grace I’m getting to know, that you and I and others re-introduced me to.
Now I’m ‘chopping water, carrying wood’ before I do the next lovely thing. I might paint, I might crochet, I might message a friend, I might go to the sea for a swim… I’ll be told!…. oh Oh its a wonderful life!
Big, beautiful, love to you All💕🌻

  6. I started my conversations and was floored at the sheer level of love that came back to me. What is on those pages is immediate, unconditional, and so accepting. I can feel my body chemistry change. My whole body relaxes such that I didn’t even realize I was holding any tension until I let it go. I understand my biggest job now is to “simply” accept it.

  7. While I totally agree with the “you had the power all along” premise, the insights I receive from various other mediums are not only helpful but fun. 🥠 They often bring me joy and sometimes even peace. Anyway, don’t stop writing, okay? You go, Wonder(ful) Woman! ✨

  8. This morning on waking I realized it was happening before I got to my notebook. I listened and yes it was a conversation me asking and answers – it seemed to start with answers. About me the “person” I see/think myself as an ongoing revolving “good” and “bad” kind of indentification. It made me think of the symbol used for theatre – the sad and happy masks. Yes, my life seems to be such a tragedy and comedy, so much drama! And yet it is the same light shining through both or any multitude of masks.
So I google what “person” means..
“Middle English: from Old French persone, from Latin persona ‘actor’s mask, character in a play’, later ‘human being’.”

  9. It’s great to see narrative therapy evolve from personal writing to community style approaches like the Moth Podcast. I once heard that Native American’s said the only thing we truly own is our story.
