Don’t wait another day for your gifts

“What modest dreamers we have become.”—Zadie Smith

I’d like to start with a ginormous shoutout to Danielle Cross whose four-word comment on a recent FB post inspired me to write this blog today.

Her kind words, brief though they may be, catalyzed me to share a few thoughts, the first of which is you never know how important a simple compliment can be in another person’s life. It could be a sign, an answer to a prayer or, as in this case, much-needed motivation.

Every last one of you, who take the time to read and comment on my crazy musings, means the world to me. As Ram Das famously said, “We’re all just walking each other home.” So thank you one and all for the overwhelming kindness you’ve shown me over the years.

Today’s Course lesson included the sentence I used for the above headline. Indeed, why wait another day, even another minute to claim your gifts?

The gifts come when we let go of the past, when we quit believing that today is going to be a clone of yesterday, and the day before and the day before that. Absolutely anything could happen today. You could meet the person you’ll marry or start a business with. You might learn something that will propel your life onto a whole new trajectory. Who knows?

Our gifts can only come when we quit investing in the world woven from false premises. Atul Gawande, professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School, says 80 percent of the fibers going to the brain’s visual cortex do not come from the retina. Rather they come from the region of your brain that controls memory functions. Our minds remember what to think, what to see. They don’t process what’s really there. They’re certainly not open to infinite potentiality.

Lately, I’ve been using the term “going old” when I fall back into a familiar pattern or choose an option because it feels “safe.”  I no longer want to return to what I’ve known. I don’t want to think the thoughts the news media tells me are important. I don’t want to “go old.”

I prefer to get my vision, my thoughts, my marching orders from the Infinite Transmission. When I do, I find that everything I need to know, everything required to live a life of meaning and joy is right there in the now, streaming in loud and clear. Without emotions of the past, without stories from “the old” to disrupt the Infinite Transmission, there is no anxiety, no illness, no anything but everlasting peace.

  1. “Without emotions of the past, without stories from ‘the old’ to disrupt the Infinite Transmission, there is no anxiety, no illness, no anything but everlasting peace.” Thank you for this beautiful reminder.

  2. I read a page from your Course in Miracles Experiment book each day. I cry often and always laugh. You have no idea how much your words have uplifted me. And my sisters and friends too since I’ve given your book to them! Thank you. 💕Wishing you a Happy, Merry, Joyful Everything! ✨️

  3. Your emails always seem to come at at time when I need that little reminder. Thank you for all of your inspirations! Thank you for being you!

      1. Good afternoon lovely Pat, I don’t know how you did it, but you did it again! Your message arrived just when I need it and it contained what I needed to hear for what’s going on with me today. You are my angel ❣️😇

  4. How timely to read your post in my email. I had just read the following, from Eckhart Tolle: When you surrender to what is and so become fully present, the past ceases to have any power. You do not need it anymore. Presence is the key. The Now is the key.

  5. Thanks, Pam. It helps to be reminded of this over and over and over again. It will sink in when it is ready.

  6. Love and light! You are amazing and your messages always align with what I most need to hear!!! Hope you have a fantastic Christmas/ Holiday Season and you know Taz is with you each day. Thank you for all the hope and encouragement you give.

  7. Dearest Pam, I may not always comment, but please know that your posts never fail to make me smile, inspire me and in the words of Marie Kindo, spark joy. A heartfelt thank you for this. I love your books and think you are completely amazing. Thank you.
    With love and hugs.
    Di xx

  8. Dear Pam
As a student of Wayne for 45 plus years as well as ACIM
I have pumped my brain full of courageous thoughts
Needed when the manure hits the fan.
Thank you, you remind us to keep at it,

  9. Thank you Pam for another inspiring reminder of how amazing life really is, especially when we let go of the past and remember to be present for the present moment. I love the idea of the ‘Infinite Transmission’ that always sends us the information we need in every moment to live a life of peace, joy and meaning. It makes me think of a radio and that it’s up to us to turn the channel to The Now so we can receive the information we need from the Field of Potentiality for that moment. If we turn the channel to The Past we miss out on the current information and get stuck in old news. And, like you said, the information we need is being broadcast in every moment but it’s up to us to tune into it by being here now instead of stuck in the past. I needed this reminder today! And I loved all the interesting bits of information and the quotes you included too. So thank you dear Pam- your blog is one of my favourite ‘channels’ on my ‘Life Radio’ and I’m so glad you share your musings with us. Big virtual hugs from me to you! 😁🤗🥳

  10. I will remember I don’t want to “go old”. I got from ACIM to be present in the moment. I am still practicing this idea. I know when I am in my old thinking. I know I can change my thinking and return to Love. That is where I want to be.

I have a cat with think fur. I brush her a couple times a week to remove loose hair. I get busy and distracted and don’t brush her. Yesterday and today, she vomited a few times. One I cleaned up had a hair ball in it. I got out her favorite brush and brushed her. When I don’t let go of negative thinking, I throw up a mental hair ball. A mess of stuff that no one want to be around. I will remember not to go old or to throw up mental hair balls.

  12. Philip K. Dick used to call God VALIS (Vast Active Living Intelligence System), and I think it’s a damn good name!

  13. Pam, your mental musings ALWAYS make a difference for my reality, and I am SO grateful you continue to send these emails. Thank you for reminding me that ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN TODAY!!! XOXO

  14. Thank you, Pam, for reminding me that ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN TODAY!!! Your musings ALWAYS shift my reality, and I am SO grateful that you choose to continue to send these emails. XOXO

  15. There is an excerpt from a song by a famous Brazilian singer (who recently passed away, unfortunately), called Rita Lee, which goes like this: “One fine day I decided to change / And do everything I wanted to do”. I think that’s an excellent motto to live by, don’t you think?

  16. Darling Pam, as ALWAYS, you rock! Wish I didn’t need reminding who I AM so often, but I do, and your messages always zap me back into the ‘sustaining infinite!’ . Thank you for reminding me yet again, that NOW is only an opportunity to recognize that we live in HIS grace and WILL experience the joy and goodness we are being bombarded with– if we can simply get quiet and ‘ALLOW’ ourselves to accept it! It’s TRUE, it WORKS; we are BRIGHT, INFINITE, SPARKS of The Source of Everything! Love and light abound, Dear Beautiful Teacher of Light! Thank you!

  17. I love when these messages pop in my inbox. One day would love to meet you in person. The words you write jump off the page to me.

  20. Good evening Pam and thank you so much for your work.
If I don’t share this with you, I’m going to faint! I have a bunch of wonderful works on Audible by guess who?…including E-Square, E-Cube, A Course in Miracles etc.
After listening repeatedly to your experiment 7 in E-Square, I did a little experiment with my own. I use assisted transportation because of a neurological condition that is causing a mobility issue. The problem is that, at times, the interval between drop off and pick up to go home can be lengthy. After being dropped off at a local shopping area, I found that I had a little more than 1 hour wait time before I was to be picked up to go home. I thought of canceling the assisted transportation and calling a cab but I decided against that and instead, sat quietly, listening to experiment 7 again and again. After a while, I began to apply one of its principles. It was 4:45 p.m., and my ride home was to be at 5:45 p.m. I began to send a message to the driver of the vehicle that he was tired, it was the end of the day and that he wanted to get home early, hoping that I would be early too. I continued to send that message for another 15 minutes then stopped and waited. Believe it or not (of course you do) the driver arrived at exactly 5:15 p.m., half an hour early. I asked the driver if it was his last trip of the day, and he said …yes and I’m anxious to go home.
I’m still shook up but at the same time I’m beginning to realize that this is really how the Universe works and I just have to get used to it. Now I’m working on healing my body, improving my finances and having more fun than I’ve ever had. God bless you Pam. You’ve given us so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
