Today I’m open to a glorious new world

“Today is your day to sing wild songs of adventure, to soar your spirit and unfurl your joy.”–Jonathan Lockwood Huie jump for joy

When my daughter and I go shopping, we have an unspoken policy if we happen to get separated. She knows that sooner or later, as sure as dandelions in the spring, she can find me in the bargain section, rifling through the sales rack.

This is a good metaphor for ACIM Lesson 226. Instead of claiming the new and exciting, we tend to go back to the same old sales rack.

Every day, when we get up, we have a brand new chance. Opportunities we haven’t even imagined are available. There are new adventures, new ideas, new ways of seeing the people in our lives.

But most of us choose to rinse and repeat the day before. We hit the alarm clock with the same finger, trudge to the bathroom with the same old tired shuffle, look at ourselves in the mirror with the same old worn out expectations.

In other words, our neural pathways keep firing on the same ole, same ole worn out routes.

The Course in Miracles introduces us to a brand new way of experiencing the world. There is no value, it says, in staying the same.

Today, we are encouraged to give up our puny goals, the ones we continue to expect again and again.  Why go back to the sales rack?

Today, we ask for the new and exciting.

I’m ready. You in?

  1. Yep- definitely ready to let go of my puny goals, my “sales rack” consciousness, and my “same ole, same ole” ways of limiting my life! I’m in! Thanks Pam 😁👍🏻💖

  2. Hi!! I am so excited to tell you I have shared your exercises with coworkers and my kids and have had so much success. I decided to see if my son’s Junior High would benefit from an after school program related to your books and Jack Canfield’s Success  Principals and his “Come as you’ll be” party at the end of the year. Seems the school is dealing with a bully issue (military kids) and so my idea falls right inline with the new Principal’s implementation of Mindfulness. Thank you so much for your Awesomeness!!❤😊

  3. Interesting concept. It’s bigger than the sale rack. It’s what I’ve been willing to settle for. I’m noticing that I’m afraid to ask for more. Always grateful that I have any. This might push me a bit. Thanks.

  4. Thank you for your encouraging words 💖 I am very content in my life right now, but want to be open to new adventures..

  5. Love this. Every morning when I wake up, I tell myself that today is going to be a great day and that something fun and exciting will happen, that I’ll get good news, that I’ll get a miracle. And it always happens!

  6. Thank you for this. I have literally shopped the sales rack for so long that it makes me nervous to look in the whole store-but I am willing to go for it!
