Rewriting the “laws” that run my life

“It’s the inner world that needs adjusting, tweaking and plucking when the outer world fails to please.”—Mike Dooley

lesson-155As a travel writer, I often end up confronting customs and laws different than my own.

In Singapore, for example, it’s illegal to hug in public. In Cannes, you can be arrested for wearing a Jerry Lewis mask. I’ve also heard of some pretty weird laws in my own country. In Devon, Texas, I’m told, it’s illegal to make furniture in the nude. Darn that, Devon, Texas.

We might get a chuckle out of these (and let me just add that I don’t plan to pack my Jerry Lewis mask my next trip to Cannes), but more than these “laws,” we are also at the mercy of arbitrary laws we’ve imposed in our own heads. Laws such as “life is a struggle,” “I have to do everything myself,” “It’s me against the world.”

The bad news is that whatever “laws” you believe in are activated in your life, creating a personal reality that reflects those beliefs. The good, shout-it-from-the-rooftops news is that you can rewrite the laws operating in your life by simply changing your beliefs.

Like the yogini whose practice is stretching muscles, my full-time practice is stretching my beliefs, changing the limiting laws that my darned ego kebeps sending memos about.

Here are just a few laws I’ve written on the books of my life:

1. The world is limitless, abundant and strangely accommodating.
2. Everything always works out for me.
3. Money is just energy and easy to come by.
4. By following my heart, I can lead a life of purpose and meaning and big-ass joy.
5. The more love I give, the more I receive.
6. Actually the more of anything I give, the more I receive.

I’m heading to Cuba tomorrow and don’t plan to take my computer so I’ll probably be incommunicado for the next week or so. Just know that I’ll be busy in Havana spreading molecules of joy and reveling in the beneficence of the universe. And for those who are wondering, today’s ACIM Lesson 155 is featured in the photo.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear in the comments section below a new belief you’re ready to sign into law

  1. I’m really God-on-a-mission, God-dressed-up-as-me, in order to play this wonderful game called life.
So OF COURSE I can have everything I need to play the game joyously and well – it’s MY game!

  2. Have fun in Cuba! We live closer to Cuba than Miami but can’t travel there now because of laws. Years ago people traveled freely from Key West to Cuba and I am looking forward to that happening again soon. Thanks for the heads up that you’ll be out of the country for awhile. And thank you again for another wonderful lesson.

  3. New laws.

    1. All my dreams come true.

    2. Money flows to me like water flowing in the ocean

    3. . Everything I ask for, I get.

    4. My heart is always open to receiving love in all forms from the Universe.

  4. Greetings dear Pam. The timing of this post is quite amazing. Last night I was at an intention group and we were talking about the beliefs we just automatically assume are “truth” and that we can in fact change any belief at all. On the way home a friend and I chatted further about this and we were talking about exactly what beliefs we personally could change! So here are two from last night and a couple more:
    1. My teeth repair damage and decay all by themselves.
    2. My eyesight is getting clearer and stronger and I no longer need glasses.
    3. Losing weight and keeping it off is as easy as breathing!
    4. Living my dreams is easy and the universe supports me all the way.
(& I’m borrowing one of yours here Pam because it just about sums everything up)……
5…..everything always works out for me.
Enjoy your trip and thanks for letting us know you’ll be off air for a while. See you when you return with wonderful stories to share no doubt 😁👍🏻💖🦋

  5. Enjoy your trip. New belief
life is easy, loving and joyous… and i will borrow one of yours

  6. I easily receive all the abundance that can’t WAIT to get to me! HOORAY.

Life is meant to be enjoyed and I party with the Universe daily

  7. I don’t have anything to add, but it’s been too long since I said, “Thank you, Pam, for bringing your light to the World!” I look forward to your posts, and always feel a little better after reading them, even when I feel great beforehand. YOU ROCK!!

  8. My Law:

The events that challenge my life are sent by a loving universe to help me grow

  9. Hi Pam I work with the premise that energy flows where attention goes. i don’t believe in putting my focus on changing my beliefs. In my experience that just amplifies those beliefs but also doesn’t acknowledge that those beliefs were created by me to serve to give me an orientation in the world. How clever is that?! So what I like to do is focus my energy on choices that really matter to me and create a new focus for my attention and energy e.g. I choose my life is a writer or vulnerable intimate love or my dynamic creative community. As the 3 initiates say in The Kybaliin the higher over the lower.

  10. I find it so interesting when you receive messages from your Angels on earth. Thanks for the message. Enjoy your trip!

  11. The Universe has my back!
I need be anxious over nothing.
I give up control and I am free!
I am free! I am free! I AM FREE!

  12. God, being Love is also Happiness
And it is happiness I seek today
I cannot fail because I seek the Truth.

Rock on Pam, and have a Havana of a great time!!

  13. This is the affirmation given me by my Higher Self…”I am one with Source and my Inner Being. I am love incarnate. I easily create from a place of love, joy, and unlimited abundance. All is well. All is good. And so it is!”
