Be crazy with love. Love when it makes no sense

“We all long for love. Everything else is just killing time.”–Kenny Loggins

Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends!

Here’s my favorite post for this most auspicious day. Enjoy!

Most people hear the word “love” and immediately think of long white dresses, tuxes and diamond rings. Our tendency to associate love with romance is a gaping blind spot. Not only are there millions of people to love (forget your quest to zero in on Mr. or Ms. Right), but there are million of ideas, millions of causes, million of quests to fall in love with.

Take Dale Price, for example. This stay-at-home dad from American Fork, Utah, spent three years waving at his high school son’s bus dressed in weird costumes, a different one every day. It started the first day of his son’s sophomore year when he realized the bus, for the first time, would drive down their street. Price greeted the bus (and his embarrassed son) that first day wearing a football helmet. From there, his creativity grew. He has waved at the bus dressed as Elvis, Fred Flintstone, Santa Claus and, once, a lampshade. He and Rain, the red-faced son, ended up on Good Morning America and the resulting blog, Wave at the Bus, has received millions of hits and raised money for Rain’s college fund, although his dad is quick to admit it may also end up being used for therapy.

The point is, there are lots of ways to make people happy, lots of ways to love. Don’t sit around waiting for your soul mate. Be crazy with love. Love when it makes no sense.

ACIM Lesson 45 (God is the mind with which I think) echoes this sentiment: to think with God is to love in all its bewildering ways, shapes and styles.

  1. WOW! Thankyou Pam! Your delightful words combined with that poet’s amazing words and fabulous presentation just ended my Valentine’s Day in the perfect way. (Its 3am for me and I just decided that seeing I’d woken up for some reason I’d check to see if you’d posted yet in what for me is the early hours of the 15th February and voila! You had 😊)
I totally love the title of this post and the gorgeous story of the stay-at-home Dad greeting his son’s bus so creatively. I have a similar story to share from my own family which I’ll post later because I need to go back to sleep! In the meantime I’m going to dream of being crazy with love and of giving it when it makes no sense – two of the best ideas not only for Valentine’s Day but for every single minute of every day of our lives. Amen Pam. I love you to bits! Goodnight! 😘😴

  2. Love reading the lessons with you each day. I go right to the deep and serious so its refreshing and uplifting to hear your perception of it all. Trusting in a renewal of my ways of living my spirituality in our world❤

  3. Hello my dear friend Pam,

I must start by saying I read your blog earlier and wanted to leave a reply but thought there was nothing to add to you’re incredible blog, so I decided if GOD, yes you heard me, would give me something to add well who am I to argue with the Big Cheese.

And I’m fully aware of the negativity surrounding the likes of the three powerful letters, so I ended up reading an article on one of ServiceSpace sites about this incredible human named Betty Peck. Below I’ll attach a link if anyone would like to read about her,
and I will add it is worth your time.

So here are Betty’s three principles (which spell GOD).
    Goodness, Oneness and Diversity.

On this note my brothers and sisters, much love to you all on this magical day of love.

    1. What a wonderful story of an amazing woman. Thankyou so much for sharing it with us M.A.S 😊 I love Betty’s principles and when I think of GOD from now on I’ll include them in the new image being created thanks to Pam’s wonderful work. Blessings to you 😊🦋

    2. I love Pam’s posts and so appreciate your sharing about Betty Peck, her magical gardens and Goodness Oneness and Diversity…very loving and inspiring! 😇💕💜

  4. Thank you Pam for your insight on ACIM every day, I love it. And HOLY MOLY !!, thank you for introducing me to this AMAZING, STUNNING, POWERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, FLABBERGASTING Poet ! She knocked me right out of my socks. I would’ve loved to have subtitles for I’m not fluently english speaking, but I got the most of it. I just discovered her poem is available in french at my favorite library in town, so I’ll get it tomorrow… Until then, I’ll practice thinking with my Best Pal… 🙂

  5. I like this one on Valentines day. I don’t have a significant other anymore and when I did, it wasn’t that kind of love. Love comes in so many different forms that often we fail to recognize it. I saw it when a shelf was being built to make my life easier or an extra shift so I could stay home to nurture our children. It was never how others thought it should be but it was love none the less. I think I’ve seen her read that poem before. Hope your Valentines day is filled with the love of family, friends and the Divine Buzz. Mine certainly is and I’m having a great day celebrating all that love. Thanks for all your love. If it wasn’t there, you wouldn’t be writing this.

  6. So here I am again, sharing my family’s creative waving experiences. It all began back in my childhood when my grandma (who lived with us) would wave our family goodbye with a tea towel. She’d twirl it round and round whilst standing on the front porch steps as we drove off on a trip somewhere. Fast forward 30 years and my sisters and I continued the tradition when waving off any family members who we were visiting or who were visiting us. But we didn’t use tea towels. We used umbrellas! Or fluffy dusters! Or hats! And on one crazy occasion we even grabbed a broom and a vacuum cleaner and waved these IN THE STREET as our relatives drove away!! It’s become a crazy family tradition that even our grown nephews and nieces enjoy and participate in. So I can certainly agree with “being crazy with love” because it’s so much fun! 😁
Love this journey with you and all your followers here Pam. Loving life these days too so thanks for helping me with that! Blessings galore from Jenny Louise 🦋⭐️💖

  7. Thank you for including this link to an amazing young poet! Her words of passion, fury, intention and beautiful vision made me feel uplifted and humble at the same time.
    Blessed be you!
