Don’t get even. Get odd.

“You are a miracle, capable of creating in the likeness of your Creator. Everything else is your own nightmare and does not exist.”—A Course in Miracles
i_love_you_message-t2

I met a woman the other day whose mother came to live with her from her homeland of China. Her mom, who can’t speak English, likes to walk around the neighborhood and because she’s friendly and always waves, neighbors often strike up a conversation. Her mom always smiles and, even though she can’t understand a word, says, “I love you. I love you. Goodbye.”

Our Source (God, to use Course in Miracles terminology) is sorta like my friend’s mother. It sees us as perfect, beautiful, amazing creations and can’t understand the crazy dialog that runs like a ticker tape through our minds. It just keeps saying, “I love you. I love you.”

Lesson 5 from the Course in Miracles is “I am never upset for the reason I think.”

It might seem like we’re upset because of something happening out there (politics, our mean bosses, a snow bomb that’s wreaking havoc with our electric grid), but it’s always, 100 percent of the time something that’s happening within us.

Life itself is never painful. It is only a mirror of our beliefs. And just like you don’t look in the mirror, notice your mascara is smudged, and then try to “fix it” on the mirror itself, you can’t really “fix” your problems out there. You “fix” your problems by recognizing them as a case of mistaken identity and then changing the inner belief, the inner cause.

So that’s why I say. Don’t get even (with that problem that appears to be out there). Get odd by going inside and knowing that, despite all appearances, your Source, like my friend’s mother, is simply saying, “I love you. I love you. I love you.”

  1. One of the things I SO love about the Course is the psychological soundness of it. And that’s my litmus test: What’s spiritually sound is psychologically so as well, and vice versa.
What a beautiful way you meshed those together, Pam!

    1. Yes I have tried so many times to tackle the Course in Miracles but found it difficult to stay with it. Thank You Pam I am enjoying the daily readings now!

  2. I like to try to think “what would JC do in this situation?” ..and then i pretend i’m Jim Carrey

  3. What a great start to the year, seeing your blog posts in my inbox each day. I love being on your ACIM journey with you. Thank you!

  4. Thank you, Pam!
Precisely what I needed to read today.
Sending to some co-workers who are going through the annual “omg-we-are-gonna-lose-our-job” phase.
I read Thank and Grow Rich followed by E-Square a year ago this week. It has changed my life in unimaginable (and now IMAGINABLE) ways.

Thank you for all that you do!

    1. Thank you, Mama Mick! (AKA Michelle). I love that you’re a local. And together we can imagine a much happier way. Thanks for being you!

    1. I was going to respond with an emoji of my own, but while I can do them on my phone haven’t figure out how to do it on my computer. So Heart Heart Heart!!!

      1. “Heart” on your computer is the “less than” symbol followed by “3” with no space between. <3
When you hit enter the heart appears. Or should.

  5. Pam, I love the way you explain the ACIM lessons. It makes them accessible and achievable. Thanks.

  6. I really enjoyed this post Pam do you think you could do more relating to quotes from course in miracles?

    Thank you Brenda

  7. So, I’ve had the ACIM book for about 25 years and every time I even think about doing the lessons I get overwhelmed. Your ACIM posts are inspiring me to open the book, do one lesson at a time, and to stop worrying if I don’t understand the lesson or don’t do it “perfectly”! Just do it Jenny! Don’t judge it, worry about it, overthink it…..just DO IT, and see what happens. So thanks Pam – as your friend’s mother says “I love you, I love you!” 😁♥️⭐️

  8. Best part of my day even if it started kind of late today. This one is soooo true!!! I’ve been working on it and started coming up with some tangible answers. Quiet moments rock.
