I’m often asked about my possibility posses. How do you start one? What do you do?
Because I’m allergic to rules and steps and how-to’s, it’s hard to give a definitive answer.
But I can say this.
Every human on the planet has woes. And every human on the planet has wisdom. There’s no exception.
The going cultural paradigm focuses on the woes: the problems that need to be fixed, the “others” who are doing it wrong.
This complaining and anger takes up a lot of space. In our heads. In our everyday conversations. In our political discourse.
In my posses, on the other hand, we leave space for wisdom. We leave the woes temporarily hand-cuffed and tied up in the cellar.
We don’t deny they’re there. We just actively acknowledge that there’s an alternative narrative.
We commit to starting the discourse with “what is going right?”
Each of us feels responsible to show up with our best game. To put on our hard hats and mine for the wisdom that each of us has.
It’s perilously easy to get sucked into the woe conversation. There’s always temptation to join the dominant life sucks story.
So instead of asking what we’re against (the typical manner for picking the popular us-against-them teams), we ask what are we for? What beautiful thing is there to behold? It’s a judo move that completely changes the energy.
What do I stand for? What might be possible?
And then, when the light is shining, we untie the woes in the cellar and find that, not only are they untrue, but they shrivel into nothingness when exposed to all that light.

I want to share an incredibly meaningful event that just happened with you. A few days ago I was in deep distress. A family emergency had me driving from Seattle to Austin. I was exhausted a worried about a family situation, and just starting on what would be a marathon of forty hours drive time. I decided to give thanks anyway, and then asked the universe for a sign that all would be well. I had to pull over to the side of the road in Colorado and take a call from a friend. While speaking, she agreed with me that the universe would not only care for me and my loved ones, but would let me know it would all be okay. Not 10 minutes later a massive double rainbow shimmered into existence directly in front of my car. I have never witnessed one coming into being and it was truly magnificent. The colors formed in midair and within seconds, it unfolded in the sky like a canvas. While it was happening, I felt a flood of peace and love. I sat there and wept for a few minutes. Sure enough, I was guided and protected and avoided several potential mishaps that might have occurred otherwise. The upshot is that we are all connected to the same source and all loved. No matter what happens, we are cared for. I hope this brings you as much joy as it did me. Thanks again for your wonderful books. I believe that they have helped thousands live more fully, and I am among them. PS, the pic is from my phone and does not really show the brightness or full range of colors.Â

Thank you Pam! I do have a question about the possibility posse. So when someone in your group is dealing with perhaps an extremely challenging or emergency situation, let’s say something like one members mentally ill son was arrested and will remain in jail for a while, or their mother had an accident and suddenly needs nonstop care,( or both things at once) that person would not even discuss the situation, but only talk up what IS going RIGHT in their lives?
Just curious-trying to picture how that works, with the hopes of forming a posse myself one day!
