Get your boom box on the right frequency and miracles will come crashing in

“The universe that constantly spins out new galaxies wants to shine through you, to speak through you, to expand through you.”—A tweet I tweeted out this morning  p950691002-3

Elizabeth Gilbert tells a funny story in her book, Big Magic. She was working as a cook on a ranch in Wyoming. She was drinking beer one night with a cowboy named, Hank, who told her about the instructional tape he had just bought to learn how to imitate an elk’s mating call.

I spent an autumn near Rocky Mountain National Park one year, and I can attest that Gilbert’s description of a bull elk calling for a mate is extremely accurate—an eardrum-shredding Styrofoam-against-Styrofoam screech.

So while we women are listening to tapes with yoga mudras, these Wyoming hunters are mastering their ability to imitate rutting elks.

Gilbert, who thought this was the funniest thing she’d ever heard, eventually convinced Hank to go get his Larry D. Jones mating call tape.

And possibly because of well, just a few too many beers, the late-night duo hatched the crazy scheme of taking the boom box out into the woods. Giddy and laughing and, as she says, not in tune with nature in the least, they stumbled through the woods with the artificial bull elk’s mating call twanging at full blast.

Suddenly, there’s a crashing of branches and a 700-pound bull elk exploding towards them. He snorted and pawed as he prepared for war against this rival bull elk. Luckily, Hank had the good sense to throw the boom box as far away as possible.

I tell you this story, partly because I think it’s hilarious, but mostly because it reminds me that if I can get my boom box on the right frequency, the universe is going to show up, snorting and pawing and ready to move in my life. It’s out there. It’s ready to go. It’s digging up the earth with its paws. I just need to get on the frequency that calls it in.

  1. Good one Pam. As soon as I find that frequency to summon the universe I will be happy to share it with you. Thanks and god bless. Bobby

  2. Thank you Pam I am so happy I found your books and blog. Because your comic books way of telling it all make it simple to receive and get it. You make it so tangible. So joyful. And yeah so normal. You really are my favourite translator of the Book of Miracles and the universal laws!

  3. It’s uncanny Pam, you hit the nail every time at the right time.
Here i was vibrating on something I don’t want and my inbox let’s me know you wrote a post reminding me that if i want it and call for it – there’s not other option than for it to find me… it’s law…it’s nature.

    LOVE IT! Thank you 😉

  4. LMBO! That’s truly hilarious & what a “coincidence” you just created with this article! I’d never heard of “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert until a few days ago while browsing through Amazon Audible Books I ran across it, it looked interesting, so I purchased it! I was just now considering relaxing today, to read it & look what pops up in my email box from you right away! Yep! Elizabeth Gilbert’s story from “Big Magic”! I take this as a VERY big sign & I’m roaring with laughter now!!! 🙂

  5. I’m in the middle of Ms. Gilbert’s book. Looking forward to that part. Made me laugh. I have a mantra going through my head this week. Where intention goes, energy flows. Mine gets lost when wandering unattended. 🙁

  6. Most most excellent. I gots my boom box blasting GREAT stuff.
Put the FP on my BIL’s 3rd “cancer” surgery and the outcome was NOT cancer again but “granulation inflammation”. YAY FP!! 🙂 MUCH better than anyone could have hoped. And the hits just keep on coming! 🙂

  7. That’s hilarious Pam! I think that’s one of your oddest, funniest posts and one of the best visuals you’ve ever given us. I know the power each of us has to create with the Universe and now you’ve given me this visual of strutting through life with a giant silver boom box perched on my shoulder blasting out the highest vibes. And right alongside me is the Universe strutting & just lovin’ that vibe 😊. Oh this life is grand! Thank you Pam gifting me with this fun today.

  8. I started the day by almost buying into the S T R E S S, but I’ve decided I’m not accepting any stress shipments today! Thanks for letting a bull elk remind me that I’m creating all the time. I choose to create a wonderful day!! A big virtual hug to everyone out there.

  9. Wow- frequency is an interesting thing. I have the pleasure of having Elk bugling in my back yard every fall in Flagstaff AZ and even had one bugle about 50 yards from me once while I was lying in a meadow enjoying the full moon. It was one of the blissful moments of my life.

My interpretation of an Elk bugle, is it is a vibration that starts in their groin with a tone similar to a renowned bass singer; as the sounds moves up the beast’s body it smoothly escalates octaves and crescendos in an alto that becomes a joyous whistle. It is as if the bull elk is having a fully body orgasm just thinking about all the cows he is going to mate with.

It is such a beautiful sound that sends chills up my spine. I love the rawness, the anticipation and the full-bodied aliveness of that glorious sound.

I love your posts Pam, they are so fun.

I would love to hear your perspective on happiness in a post someday. Hearing people’s perspective on happiness is my current fascination.

I don’t know you,but I feel like we are on the same team, spreading the word that what we feel is what we see.

    Thank you! Holly Jaleski

  11. This post is SO awesome! My husband is a hunter and and we have one of those Elk calls. The styrofoam description is hilarious and highly accurate! In order to keep the good vibe going, Thanks to your inspiration, I’m writing down 3 reasons to be greatful every day and putting them in a jar. I started it January 7th and have 3 friends doing it with me. I want you to know that this blog post is one of the three things I’m putting in the jar tonight. I think the full moon is tomorrow and I may need to put on the snow shoes to dance under it in my part of the world! Have a great night, Pam.

  12. That sounds great, but I don’t see how I’m supposed to get on that frequency in the first place. I have no “dial” so to speak

  13. Pam, I need your manifesting a trip expertise. I have read both of your books and I wander which one of the experiment I should use to bring this trip into my physical reality. My desire is to travel to Brazil next week for a much needed break, to catch the end of carnival and time to focus on finishing my book. There is something about me being in Brazil that just feels so good and carefree.

What would you recommend I do to stir things up? I have already started getting into the vibe of looking up airfare and today I actually saw one that was within what I would be willing to pay. I don’t have the cash readily available but I know the universe has countless ways to bring this to me so I am not worried too much about the money situation.

  14. A very picturesque way of explaining that we need to be on the same frequency of what we want to attract, love it!
