Why I’m the luckiest person on the planet, Episode 18

“An absolute flood of gratitude rushes like a river over my life, reconfiguring my landscapes, overflowing my shallow places, nourishing a great thirst within me and carrying me to new destinations far downstream where the vistas go on forever.”–Ellen Vaughn

summer's wonder woman

Wow! Wow! Wow!

It would be irresponsible of me to write even one more blog post without stopping to say THANK YOU. Without stopping to acknowledge that it is your encouragement, your wisdom, your support that keeps me going. Without you, I would just be the tree falling in the forest without making a sound.

I am so very grateful!

See that revamped Wonder Woman? That was made by Summers Paige, a fabulous artist who came to my workshop in San Diego. Isn’t it so cool!! I can barely open my mouth without somebody sending me a gift.

Yesterday, when I talked about upgrading my word choice, I got dozens of fabulous suggestions. Dennis Braun, whose amazing wisdom has graced this blog from the very beginning, suggested this:

“Why does money have to be hard-earned? Why can’t money be easy-earned?”

I was reminded of all the things we routinely and rotely say without thinking, without realizing that every word we speak about our life is predicting our future. Who needs a tarot card reader? Or a crystal ball?

If an opera diva can break a glass with nothing but her voice, it should be patently obvious that your words carry a vibration and create cause.

When you say things like “I never have enough money,” or “It’s so hard to lose weight,” or “I can’t help it, my family is dysfunctional,” you cement that continued reality into your future.

Why not speak a higher reality, a reality that lies dormant, but exists in each of us, a reality that brings joy and success and Truth?

Perhaps the most potent of words is the “I am.” Whatever you put after it becomes your reality.

Back in the day, I used to call all my friends and say, “Woe is me! I am depressed.” Now, I prefer A) not to call my friends to blather on about something undesirable and B) if I do need to mention it, I would say something like “My thought-maker is temporarily malfunctioning.”

Neuroscientist Alex Korb reminds us, “If you break your arm, you don’t tell people, “I am broken.” Why would you need to say, “I am depressed” when your thought-maker (ie: your squirrely brain) is just doing what squirrely brains do: running thoughts.

It certainly doesn’t mean that’s who you are.

You can use your “I am” to argue your limitations or you can use it to speak Truth: I am free, I am blessed, I am joyful.

Again, guys, thank you so much for being here.

  3. HI Pam, When I finished throwing my own “Gold Watch Party” in August to mark the transition away from my programs-in-schools life, I thought to my self, “What’s next?” Then, I thought,” I want a “crowning achievement” to my career.”
Nothing happened for two months when I got an email from England asking for my mailing address so I could receive an invitation. The sender was the executive director of HRH Prince Charles’ demonstration organic garden and estate. Six weeks later I received a hand-signed invitation from Prince Charles to be a keynote speaker at a conference in April. Linda and I went nuts until we realized there was probably no compensation. When we confirmed that this would cost us thousands, we briefly dispaired, until our step-daughter told us about Go Fund Me. We responded to the invitation with a resounding YES and now are buying the tickets for the flight and approaching half-way to our overall goal.
How’s that for a ‘crowning achievement’ and a chance to s-t-r-e-t-c-h even further.

  9. Pam again, you are a messenger to my mind thought control center!

I am in the beginning stages today of taking care of my squirrely brain and fixing the malfunction after visiting with both my Neurologist and Internist upon my request this past Thursday.

Today, I am taking charge and moving on, with medical advice of all those required and having them all on the same page with a change in prescription drugs because I don’t do quicksand and refuse to have my happy stolen from me.

I Thank You for your posts helping my mindset stay above water.

  10. Thank you, Pam; mentioning me like that. And coming from you, is a compliment, indeed.

Anyway, your post had me thinking about this passage from Glenda Green’s book, “Love Without End,” in which Jesus explains to her how will and intent are actually the same thing – and that the universe always honors our truest intentions – even when we don’t necessarily keep them in the forefront of our day-to-day minds. Here’s the passage:

“How old were you when you decided or intended to become an artist?”

“I was just three years old.”

He replied, “All right, that’s an example of intent.”

I thought for a moment, and then replied, “Yes, I guess so.” I had never thought of it as will, only intent.

He persisted by asking, “Did you think about it and apply that intent every day of your life from that moment on?”

“Oh no, I was just a little girl painting in my coloring books. As a matter of fact, I never even asked for art classes. My mother saw to it that I received them.”

He added, “Yes, she responded to your intent.”

When I was in school, I made my best grades in art, so I was always given projects that gave me more experience.”

He urged me to continue by affirming, “So even your teachers were responding to your intent. As you entered high school, were you thinking about painting as a career?”

“I never actually planned a career in my teens, because horses were my passion in those years. I was just being a girl growing up, although in my senior year I was awarded a university scholarship in painting.”

He seized the opportunity to complete His objective, “Was that the universe responding to your intent?”

  11. Thank YOU, Pamela! As always, your writing brings a smile to my face and peace to my heart. I love to tell everyone about E2 and E3! My copies are oft-read and dog-eared treasures on my bookshelf and night table. I am grateful that I get to hear from you in e-mails with more goodness, all the time. Still looking forward to meeting you and having coffee or a walk-n-talk, someday (sooner than later!?!). Happy Tuesday to you and all your readers!

  12. Hi Pam,

Michael Toohey from Australia! I just loved that post! You are so right – the words are critical! I was recently coaching a client of mine who had flown to Australia to compete in Las Vegas in a women’s figure shaping competition. I then watched her event on life stream on the Internet and was amazed at the way these women were introduced!

The MC would say as follows! for example:

” And now here is Mary Smith from Texas who is 54 years YOUNG”

I just loved it and it sounded so empowering!

    Words have power!

    Cheers
    Michael
