“Truth merely wants to give you happiness, for such its purpose is.”–A Course in Miracles

“Lay your interfering thoughts aside.”—Course in Miracles

My thoughts provide an endless source of entertainment. Most of the time, they’re busy replaying the past, or constructing a future.

Instead of living in “The Holy Now,” where miracles are natural and joy is unstoppable, I put up a barrier. I let the past direct the movie of my life.

By believing today is going to resemble yesterday (and we all do—that’s how we decide things) we leave no room for change, no room for all the good the universe is trying so hard to bestow. There is a HUGE stockpile of blessings just waiting for you to lay down your continuous reactivation of the past.

Over and over, instead of viewing the delicious juiciness and endless possibilities available in this now moment, we plan the future using yesterday’s replay. The present has gifts of its own, but we keep returning to yesterday. Hard to believe, but the present doesn’t need our help!!!

As the Course in Miracles so clearly states, “Without the continuity of old ideas and sick beliefs, present confidence will direct the way.”

Every time, I head out on a new trip (as I’m doing today, going to Peru with my daughter), I decide in advance that I’m going to have a great time. I picture amazing adventures, laughter, everything working out with ease and grace.

Well, guess what? That’s exactly what I get.

Pre-paving is powerful mojo. Just make sure you don’t pre-pave the past. Pre-pave something unexpected, something unlimited.

Once we let go of all our planning, all our struggling and all our beliefs that it’s our job to figure life out, the universe, whose only purpose is our good, will flood us with blessings.

Without defenses, fool bullheadedness and insistence in living everywhere but in the now, we can expect joy that constantly increases. And that’s dignity!

  2. Have a wonderful time on your amazing trip with your daughter!!! Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone!

  3. Wishing you everything good on your trip. I keep looking for an online group to study ACIM with because it seems the foundation of all good. Have done a bit on my own but so much more enlightening with someone who understands it. We do drag the past around with us like a ball and chain giving it a good rattle when we want some attention. Silly us. 🙂

  4. As a wise person once instructed me” something absolutely awesome is going to happen to you today”. God Bless. Gary

  5. Have an awesome Trip! Following you blog weekly as I’ improving from my stroke after heart surgery.(Can even type with two fingers now, well truth be told, I never was a touch typist. I also no longer hit myself in the nose while moving my tea mug to my mouth). You have given me such hope as I am beginning to “GET it” while I am laid up, unable to walk (YET!) This solitary time has me finally reading “A Course In Miracles”, and it’s Just Fantastic. Also got some CDs, all of Echart, and studying them. This turns out to be valuable “down time” I greatly needed to focus on the present, not allowing the past or future to dictate my thoughts. Was, before this “setback”, a running over busy, list makin’ materealist-consumer, but this experience with the deeper truths is changing me for the better Bless you, Trish

Hi! to Nelly…I’d love to visit Argentina. One of my favourite things to do is watch clips of Tango dancers on the streets…..amazing! Maybe my Tango days are in my dreams now….still waiting for Al Pacino to knock on my door, when he does I’ve decided he can Tango with me as he did in the film Scent of a Woman!

Love to all who post here….enjoy the summer sunshine.
