Tragedy, chaos and unhappiness are an unfortunate rumor we can throw overboard at any time

“Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.”
–Bob Marley

Most of us think life is some sort of boot camp for heaven. We believe this short life span is “only a test” for the paradise we’re eventually going to earn. If we hang on and bear up, we’ll someday walk through those pearly gates and be happy. These errors in thinking have been condensed into living facts. Nothing is plainer than the inevitably of sorrows and trials.

But what if it isn’t necessary? What if tragedy, chaos and unhappiness are nothing but a rumor, cemented into our consciousness by years and years of conditioning?

What I’d like to suggest is this heaven you’re waiting for is available now. And that you’ve been sold a bill of goods about who you are and what is possible.

The way I see it, there are only four reasons we aren’t all joyous, loving and free.

1. We didn’t know we could be.

2. We didn’t ask.

3. We don’t use our mind power properly. If you’ve ever been in a sailboat, you know that unless you hold the sails in the right position, you’re pretty much stuck paddling in circles. The wind, like your mind is a potent energy source, but it won’t take you anywhere until you learn the proper way to use it.

4. We have a thing about drama. Ever wonder why rollers coasters are so popular? Why movies like Alien v. Predator boost ticket sales? C’mon, admit it. You crane your neck around to see those mangled bodies lying there along the side of the road after a car accident. You actually like being a little off-kilter and guess what? As long as you enjoy this, you get to have it.

This may be a hard pill to swallow, but we—you and me—made the mess we call material reality.

If you look very closely as what we politely assume to be the building blocks of the universe, you’ll discover they’re dicey at best. Or to put it another way, since renowned physicist Brian Greene is much better at explaining these thing than I am, “quantum fluctuations so mangle space and time that the conventional ideas of left/right, backward/forward, up/down and before/after become meaningless.”

In other words, we experience war and global warming because that’s what we’ve come to expect, what we think of as reality. We created these disasters with our angry, fearful consciousness. The exciting thing about this truth (that it’s us, not some random misogynist named God) is that another way IS possible. We do not have to accept war and sickness and injustice. We, by changing our consciousness, can create a peaceful world that works for everyone. In fact, looking for anything else is irresponsible.

  1. Amazing. I woke up this morning thinking “Life Is Good” and then I read your post with the words in the sand.

  2. What a fantastic, straightforward message in your e- mail message I received today ! Just what I needed to be reminded of as I make my way through this week …. A week I had been convincing myself was going to be long and arduous !! This stuff takes practice I guess !! 😛

  3. This couldn’t come at a better time.  I read about so many amazingly disgusting things…how our food is being modified with Round Up, how big business is manipulating government, how the earth is being run over by industry and corporate giants and profit seeking countries.  I feel horrified and disgusted.  What can I do, I ask.  There is so much and I am one small elderly woman.  Thank you.  I need these little reminders to keep my mind on track.   The Joyful Palette  –  Art by Jaquith

      1. I love you Pam Grout and I hope to meet you.
This has been a life saving message for me. So many people are so hung up in their stories. Thanks for the reminder. Life is good and life loves us!

  4. Through Pam Grout’s books and other books, I am learning that for me, my mind and body are where I need to stay grounded and focused. I stay away from any thought, thing or person that is a drama-creator. We create turbulence or peace in the universe and in our bodies with our thoughts. It is both humbling and awesome to realize this. I am what I seek. So if I have sense, I create peace, health, intelligence etc in my world. That is where the journey starts for me.

  5. Pam, I needed this. I am so grateful for you and your posts. Sometimes, I feel GUILTY receiving blessings because I have been brought up to not be “holier than thou” and also to be HUMBLE to the point of HUMILITY. Like an episode of SNL with “Debbie Downer”, I will have moments of LOVE and PURPOSE and UNDENIABLE JOY overwhelm me, cascading over me and all of a sudden… droplets of GUILT creep in… and I feel SHAME that my life is so blessed and that others are victims of child abuse, neglect. Like the recent killing of the giraffe and the selfie taken next to it. More like a #selfiSH … Anyway, reading your posts, REMINDS me of TRUTH. That we are all One. That the pain I experience is what I choose to believe exists serves as solely INFORMATION! And that with this information, the absolute BEST I can do to TRANSMUTE it, is to BE the GREATEST AUTHENTIC EXPRESSION OF SELF, which exudes compassion, love and truly lights PURPOSE and PASSION within me to create what change I can. Energetically, I do believe that this will only Serve those around me. It may seem selfish, but in the end, to take care of ME is to take care of the Whole. I am finding the balance in this. And your posts helps greatly. Thank you, Pam. You may never know how much of a mentor you have been for my evolution and REMEMBERING how precious I am / We are.

  6. Wicked (I AM from Maine and that means AWESOME. Synchronicity! I had just not five minutes prior to reading your blog ,mentioned Bob Marley to a friend. Except, we couldn’t remember his name.. How cool is That?! FP answering my question.

  7. Hello Pam, I have read both of your books, reread them again and again. I am truly trying to be a believer, but it is really hard to keep faith in all this, my husband and I have been without work for almost a year and yesterday my husband thought of killing himself when he woke up. he’s still alive, but the weight is very hard on him. We are praying not to lose our home, bills are insurmountable right now too. I decided to make a poster yesterday saying prayers and thanking for our experiences and stuff we do have, plus I wrote ‘love’ on sticky notes and put them all around the house. I am hoping and praying this experiment will help us! I’ll keep you posted. Brenda Greyeyes

    1. Dear sweet Brenda,

I hold you in the light and know that all shall be well. I, too, have had times of wondering how to pay the next bill. I realize now how far I’ve come and I know you and your husband will make it through, as well. As much as possible, get outside and enjoy nature’s bounty. Again, I see you happy and free. Love, only love, Pam

  8. Hi Pam,

I needed to let you know that the only reason I have an email account is so I can receive your blogs. I love it so much you can’t believe it. Every time I read one or receive one is music to my ears because it is always just what I need to hear that day at that right moment. Thank you, thank you, thank you. By the way, I also have a little something to tell you, hoping this time I can make someone else’s day. For a while now, I have been concentrating on OBE’s (Out of Body Experience) and fortunately, just like you said, the more you think about something the more you get. Anyway, to make the story short, my daughter and I became very spiritual, to the point where she was able to connect with spirits, angels and even her higher self. Since I wanted to feel and understand what she was feeling, I decide to buy a Pyshic Board or what a lot people call Ouija board. We were having a lot of fun with it, we both could see how the spirits are so excited to connect with us. Well, one day working on an experiment for and OBE, I was able to connect with my husband who past away in 9-11-2000. This would be hard to believe but while I was completely relaxed and working on an OBE, he (my husband) started moving my arms. At the beginning I was kind of scared because I had my eyes closed and covered so couldn’t tell what it was. Then I calmed down and I ask if it was my husband to please move my other hand in an specific way, and he did. It has been two months already and we are more connected than ever, he even helps me do meditations and talks to me through the board, writing and even my own mouth. The reason I am telling you all these is because he wants me to let you know that all that you have said about the FP is true. He has made me do other exercises in order to test or play with the FP. The spirits want to connect with all of us in a very deep level so they can too help us understand and play with the Universe. So far I have helped two other people connect with their love ones and they still can’t believe the connection they have with them now. My job now is to keep connecting people with other spirits in a more certain way of communication. He would like me to tell you that your work has changed a lot of lives, including mine. He or they also want to make sure we all know that we never die and that we are God, making it possible to have and do whatever we want. For some people it is easy for some others not so much, but if we open our hearts loving everything and everyone around us, anything is possible.

Thank you so much again for everything you do, the spirits and I are extremely grateful.

    Judi

I Love Pam’s sailing analogy in this post! She has such a knack for making these concepts accessible and understandable. If you like the idea of “The Secret” but can’t quite make it work-read this post and it may “click” for you.

  10. Hi Pam:

Love this post so much that I posted some of it on my Facebook(FB) page. I love knowing that we can consciously create a more peaceful world, and that we can do that by choosing where we put our focus. Unfortunately, my post incited a strong and unexpected reaction from my sister. She accused me (and you) of “God bashing.” (Random and Misogynistic). She informed me that she was going to stop receiving my posts on her FB feed, because she found them offensive to her theology. I found her reaction surprising, frankly, and quite rude. I’m not offended, but I am curious. What’s up with that, anyway?

    1. We are all on our own personal spiritual journey. When encountering someone on a different journey, respect their journey and shoot them with your love ray gun. Love is powerful and universal.

  11. I am have read both E-squared and E-cubed and they have helped me to become an optimist from a pessimist. I agree in everything you write. There is only one thing I don’t understand.
Whenever we don’t get what we want, you advise to look for the bigger picture. What I don’t understand is: how can it be considered as LOA since we didn’t get what we desired and rather got whatever the universe was going to give us (even though it was bigger than what we desired). But LOA means getting what we want. Then if we don’t get what we want, then it can be termed as destiny, always. One time we got something we desired because we were destined to get it. Another time we didn’t because we were not destined to get it. I don’t understand how the concept of ‘looking at the bigger picture’ is in alignment with LOA. I feel ‘looking at the bigger picture’ is equal to ‘see, you were not destined to get it and you wouldn’t, so act like you are happy because you will surely get something bigger’. But ‘I didn’t want anything bigger, I wanted that’.
    Please solve my query.

    Thank you.

Damn, Miss Pam! And Amen and Right On! Thank you for this no holds barred reminder.
    Love and Gratitude.

  13. Thank you, Pam again and again for writing your e-mail (it’s like enjoying a toasted bagel w/ cream cheese early in the morn.–such delicious substance!). I asked the F.P. for happy news: got it = you are coming out with yet another book. Applause, applause, Joany

  14. Great piece…as usual.

  15. Interesting. I stepped out of the shower this morning recalling a conversation with my mother(MIL but I just call her mother) and hearing her say “I’m just trying to get to heaven”. I replied with, and still ask the question, “is that all we’re here for?”. Do we stop living just to “live again”? I’ve been reading postive thinking, self-talk books for years. I read E Squared last year and just re-read E-Cubed for the second time this year. Excellent books by the way. It’s time to make all of these books more than a collectors item or good information to pass along, to stop shrinking and being afraid of my power and to actually start doing. All of the knowledge in the world is absolutely useless without application. I am so full right now and I’m beginning to ramble. I will end by letting you know as my husband greeted me today with another murder story, he’s in law enforcement and is drawn to drama, I politely asked him to commit for the next 3 days to share with me the good news that he comes across. He actually agreed to it. I’ve never been one to believe in coincidence so I know I came to your site today to read this article for a reason. Thanks again for the books and I’ll be sure to keep you posted about my triple “A”, Absolutely Amazingly Awesome, life.
