When making an intention, your only job is to chill

“Everything you can imagine is real.”–Pablo Picasso

When it comes to turning thoughts into things, it’s imperative to disregard “what appears to be true.”

Focus instead on “what you want to be true.”

Sure, you might get bucked off the horse from time to time, might start listening to that spin doctor in the brain, be tempted to focus on the “information” presented by the five senses, the news media, the default setting that says, “Be careful. Worry. Don’t even think about learning to relax.”

But just keep climbing back into that saddle and focusing on what you want to be true.

That’s why I’ve made “training my mind” priority numero uno. On a daily basis, I instruct it to look for beauty. Encourage it to seek out the bigger picture, to focus on the love and the seemingly impossible.

I’ve heard back now from several winners of the E-Cubed Selfie Challenge. And I was thrilled to learn that many of them have already seen their vision come to fruition. Cheryl Lynn Gibbs sent a fabulous selfie of her and her hubbie with the Airstream they wanted to drive across the country.

Here’s her story:

I posted my selfie/bookie on your page at about 8:00 on a Wednesday night. My hubby and I were the ones who intended to manifest an Airstream so we could travel in style across this magical country of ours to visit my family in the Midwest. Around 9:00 the following morning, my hubby received an email from his favorite cousin in southern California.

She wrote, “I have a 27-foot Airstream you two can use ….” What the? Crazy, huh? Just 13 short hours! I LOVE stuff like this!!! My hubby and I call this “access to resources.” A couple of years ago, I was listening to a series of interviews on abundance. The interviewer would begin each interview by asking the question, “What is abundance to you?” One gentleman responded, “Abundance is simply access to resources. You don’t need to own the swimming pool–just have access to it. You don’t need to own the tennis court–just have access to it. You don’t need to own the horse–just have access to it.” For us, we don’t need to own the Airstream–just have access to it. And quite honestly, we have no where to park it at our house anyway. The Universe takes care of all the deets if you just step back and let It do Its thing!

  1. Dear Pam,
I loved your book E cubed….you have such a delightful style that it encouraged me while writing mine. I was wondering if you could give my little book (70 pages) a look? I would love hearing what you think? it is about love and making the world a better place? I can email it to you if you have a little time to read it? It would be such an honor. I am 64 and this is a dream come true.I just sent it to my editor,,,so it is not quite done but a thumbs up from you would mean a great deal?

  2. YAY!!! That is SO exciting! And it is so TRUE how when we focus on the WHAT and surrender to the HOW we get better than we would have calculated!!! Crazy, right?! The best news…. It is starting to become SANE in my world. It is almost abnormal NOT TO BE IN A STATE OF AWE and AMAZEMENT with the many blessings that keep flowing! CONGRATS!!!

    1. StevieAnne, You are about the coolest person I know. LOVE THIS!! “It’s almost abnormal NOT to be in a state of awe and amazement.”

    1. Yes. It’s all about access. Who wants to carry around a bunch of stuff anyway? It’s enough to know it’s right there when we need it. And indeed it always is.

  3. Hey Pam, I’ve been doing the ACIM workbook for about 3 months now. I find I’m not clear at all about how ACIM fits with creating our own reality, especially if everything is already pre-scripted by the ego. Thoughts? Or would you write about how they work together sometime? Thanks!

    1. Hi Deb,

It’s always a choice–whether to listen to the ego or to relax into the Truth of the world’s unending, unlimited largesse. For me, it’s a no-brainer.

    2. Hello Deb.

I’ll just offer a few more reference comments to what Pam said.

If you are doing the ACIM lessons, you’ve probably already read the text, and will remember a part in Chapter 30 that encourages you to decide what kind of day you want:

“…think about the kind of day you want, and tell yourself there is a way in which this very day can happen just like that.”

I think the Course is not so much about feeling powerless as an ego, but realizing the power that knowing reveals.

Here’s another quote, this time from Chapter 7:

“He teaches you that all power is yours. Its application does not matter. It is always maximal. Your vigilance does not establish it as yours, but it does enable you to use it always and in all ways.”

  4. While doing one of the exercises in E cubed, I was trying to manifest the number 222 and about to give up since it was a week overdue. At that time in my life I was debating whether or not to go back to school. My husband and I were flipping coins. It was not helping. He said he didn’t want the decision to be based upon our finances but then said, “lets get out the calculator”. After typing in the cost of $8,000 and dividing it by 36 (the number of actual classes) the total came to be 222.2222222222222….. It was a great surprise and the answer to my question.

  5. Love this so true!! I’ve Dreamed of having a house on the sea. I’m also in love with my home where I am. I imagined myself eating dinner with family and friends looking out into the ocean while listening to the woosh of the waves and feeling the hot sand around my toes. I got the idea to make this a reality and promptly bought a table and four folding chairs a beautiful table cloth and candelabra and brought our dinner to the local beach 10 minutes away to enjoy with family and friends many times. No mortgage maintenance taxes or insurance. And I don’t have to move 🙂 perfect…

    1. I love this idea. All the material stuff just bogs us down. We can be anywhere and do anything. Openness is all it takes. Thanks, Cathy. I’ll see you at the beach!!!

  6. Dear Pam, Several years ago, I “felt” like I needed to have a break from my current living situation; really needed some solo time to be with myself. With the intention of finding a way, I called a friend of mine in Kauai sharing that if she had any friends who were seeking a trustworthy house or pet-sitter, to consider me (even though it meant flying from the mainland). She replied, “I’m leaving for a month, why don’t you just come here and stay?” She already had a on-property home caretaker who took care of her pets, but she also had a guest house, on her 14 acre estate and I was welcome to come if I could get myself there. I did. For three weeks. And it was during that time of blissful aloneness, I heard in my head “art and soul”…did a search…learned of Pam Grout’s book by that title. I wrote to her. We’ve been friends ever since. I have found, with intention, it’s not just “the intention” but the ripple effect of creating and expanding your life with all that comes with the original “it”. Thank you, dear friend, for all you do and give to inspire others to reach beyond former self-made limitations.

  7. Love! I manifested a silver vehicle with satellite radio and cruise control …”or whatever the Universe knows will work for me”….two months ago, my BF’s mom gave him her very low-mileage silver Jeep Liberty, with cruise control, and my BF is putting in Sat radio (I travel the desert often). I don’t have ownership of it, but I do have access to it! I AM Blessed Abundantly. YAY Universe!!

  8. Hi Pam,
I’m trying my best to chill.
Any suggestions about chilling for a 9 year miracle to be answered, would be greatly appreciated!!

  9. When it comes to turning thoughts into things, it’s imperative to disregard “what appears to be true.”

Focus instead on “what you want to be true.”

therefor I am NOW listening to Pam Grout’s new audiobook version of Ecubed. n the now moment…
