Important 2014 update to Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”

“You are already wealthy, but you have been taught not to experience your wealth.” –David Cameron Gikandi

I’m heading to Mexico City today to speak at Expo Ser, the largest mind, body and spirit conference in Latin America. I’m excited because my daughter, Taz, who speaks Spanish (I don’t. Yet.) is going with me.

So I decided to re-run a popular blog post from last year. Enjoy!!

In 1937 when Napoleon Hill wrote his now-classic tome, quantum physics was still in diapers. Einstein, of course, had posited his famous theory of relativity, but quantum physicists didn’t completely understand how it worked.

To tell you the truth, they still have trouble making sense of the crazy quantum world that is changed by simple observation. As famous physicist Richard Feynman was known to say, “Nobody understands quantum mechanics.”

However, we do know with complete certainty that thoughts produce energy (much like invisible radio waves) and that they have a significant impact on your life. This energy, in fact, provides the building blocks for your life experience.

The update to Hill’s material should be this: “Think and BE Rich.” Time is irrelevant. You can “be rich” now. Money is only a representation of your “wealth consciousness” and “wealth consciousness” which is the true source of your financial picture is available right at this moment.

Money—or what we think of as money—bills, coins, etc.—are merely tools that demonstrate a person’s “wealth consciousness.” And, in fact, according to David Cameron Gikandi, only 4 percent of money in banks (depending on the country) exist in physical form. Furthermore, he says, “Money is not real. It’s a shadow of something else.”

So by expanding your consciousness into the true abundance of the world, you acquire what is in you already. As Gikandi says, “You have more wealth capability within you than you can possibly experience in a lifetime. Nor do you need to know how to convert wealth consciousness into paper money. It happens automatically when you expand your wealth consciousness.”

In the quantum world, you are connected to everything. You already have all the riches you could ever imagine. They exist right now as probability waves. But that’s the problem. You don’t imagine them.

You keep focusing on what you don’t have.

So back to Napoleon Hill. He advises people to come up with a date when they want a certain amount of money. Sometime in the future. But the trick in the quantum world is to “be rich now.” Again, all your riches already exist in the quantum world.

Being wealthy is an internal state. As Gikandi points out, “It has nothing to do with the outside world. The internal state of wealth is a decision you make right now and you become it right Now. You need nothing outside yourself to make this decision. Do not attempt to get wealth. Be wealth.

“Even in a billion lifetimes, you cannot possibly exhaust the wealthy given to you freely by life. But you can “fail” to receive it by your own thoughts, words, action, and most of all, your chosen states of being.”

The only thing standing in your way is your “wealth consciousness.” Isn’t it time to quit “thinking and growing rich?” Instead, it’s time to Think and BE Rich.

  1. I was driving home from taking my son to summer school, the windows were down, I could hear the crickets chirping, I turned onto a dirt road and heard the words “Kathee you be the wealth, it is your responsibility”. Good Lord Almighty, I nearly wrecked! Then to come home and read your message here and FB was the zing I wanted! So as of today, this chick-a-dee is going start documenting all the pings, sparkles and kisses that come my way.

You are a great writer and very fun.

    Thanks,

  2. But how do you get this wealth consciousness? Look forward to seeing you in N.Y. We can’t wait!

  3. Hello Pam!
    I loved this post!
I have been driving by a house that I really like and about five days ago the house was put on sale! Wow!! So yesterday we called and well the amount they are asking for is quite high. So I thought to myself that I would let life flow and not start thinking how I would get the money to buy it. Still this morning I got up feeling a little bit low, so I started blessing the whole process, owners, house, price and everything to do with my house. =) But there is still a little bit of fear. So, now that I read your post, it came just at the right moment. So, I just want to make sure, how do I expand my consciousness into the wealth consciousness? How do I become wealth? Do I just affirm that I am wealth? ( This is what scares me, that I might not be putting in all the emotion or the belief into my feelings =( )

    Thank you
    Julia

    1. I’d say, the first step is to let-go of any thought suggesting the house is not yours. What comes-up when you think of that?

Back in 1983, when my wife and I first saw the house that would eventually become ours, it was also very expensive and not for sale.

But we believed we’d been shown the house for a reason. So, we knocked on the door and met the owners. They weren’t interested in selling, but we gave them our phone number.

We actually lived three states away when they called us a few weeks later to ask if we were still interested. We were, so went back to tour the place and hear the price.

It was a lot bigger than it looked from the road, and the price was high, but we returned home thinking this new level of prosperity was right for us.

Having actually been in the house, I resumed a nightly visualization process of already living there – but now I could imagine looking out from the greatroom, across the lake at the Mountain View.

My uncle was a realtor. As a business man he wondered how we could afford the place – especially if we quit our jobs to move there. We didn’t know either, but kept the idea the house was for us.

Negotiations ensued, then broke-down, with the owners saying the house would no longer be for sale if we didn’t meet their terms by midnight.

We didn’t, but I kept on with my nightly routine.

This was in the Fall, and in December we hadn’t heard anything from them at all when my wife had a prophetic dream they would come to our terms if we were still interested. Specific things had changed, the man told her in the dream.

In January she got that exact call.

So we closed the deal and lived in the house for the next three years – then sold the place at a profit.

For brevity, I’ve left out a lot of extraordinary events that ushered us to a successful conclusion, but I’ll end this with one of my favorite quotes, and a thought.

Lao Tzu – “One who flows as life flows, has solved the enigma of human existence and needs no other power.”

It’s only our own doubts that stand in our way.

  4. I was looking at my new copy of Think and Grow Rich several weeks ago and thought to myself that it should be named Think and Be Rich. You are only as rich as you think you are. Oh, I bought a house all by myself yesterday. Not bad for a senior on Social Security. Life is good.

  5. I just find it’s easier said than done. How do I actually change my thoughts to that of wealth consciousness that I would love to know. Please share.

    1. Noticing the abundance of the natural world is always a good start and focusing on gratitude is the port key. Everything turns around when you focus on all your blessings.

      1. ya makes sense. I guess I still have a hard time focusing on gratitude for any length of time. I’m not sure if there is a simple solution but thanks for the suggestion.

  6. Thank you for the reply to my post! You made me feel much more confident!
    Blessings for you Dennis! =)

    1. Thank you, Julia. You didn’t ask for my input, but I’m glad if my experience was of some inspiration as to possibilities. The events I recounted actually unfolded over about an eight month period, (late summer of ‘82 to spring of ‘83) and I dealt with many doubts along the way – but never changed my mind.

There have been times since, however, when I’ve wanted to accomplish something but it just didn’t “feel right.” I’m thinking about another house we looked at a few years later on, but surprising circumstances kept developing that suggested we were barking-up the wrong tree.

When we finally stopped pushing, something much nicer came along and at a better price. So we got that instead, but wouldn’t have if the first deal had already worked-out.

Sometimes our dreams are too small for our own good. Lol.

  8. Hi Pam.. I just read your book Esquared!!! You are simply awesome.. I went through a terrible phase & now suddenly things are starting to look better than ever..!!! I’m so much more happier nowadays.. Just a question?? I was volunteering at a hospital to get a job & I was also hoping to meet my life partner there when I got the job. I didnt get the job but I had made a big detailed list of what I wanted in a life partner & I found someone who works in this same hospital who has all the qualities in my list including the height, eye color, education right down to the most minute details.!!! I even had wanted someone who went to high school in a very specific city abroad & it came true.!!! I’m shocked as its kind of spooky.. But since I didnt get the job I’ll be taking up another one in a different hospital. What does this mean? Will I get back into this job soon if I apply again since I found someone who I think is my future life partner & i always wanted to meet someone at work???!!! I’m sorry for this silly question but please do reply…

  9. Reblogged this on You are the truth and commented:
This is important, people! I am guilty, and shifting my consciousness TO.DAY. …

  10. Hi Pam, how are you? I’m in a place where I keep going back to my automatic way of thinking, which is – this OR that, rather than this AND that. There are a number of things I want for my life, including a place to live that is perfect for my family and costs a lot of money to buy.

For example in looking for ways to get enough money to buy the place I find myself giving up on some of the things I would like to have in order to create more resources for my new home. At times like this I catch myself and ask why I don’t seem to have wholly embraced the idea that I can have it all. No reason why I can’t have both the swanky car and a dream home and still other things.

I’m seemingly stuck in the world of limits to what I can have. I hope the fact that I now notice it and catch myself when thinking within limits means I will soon be able to truly live and breathe abundance. I have it as a concept, but not fully in life. Does it take practice?

    1. Fine line, I’d say. Yes, practice is important. But it’s also important to let the universe do the heavy lifting. If you think about it too much, you can put a wrench in the works. Best strategy always is to focus on what you have to be grateful for. Putting your attention on that–not matter how small the blessing might seem–will grow the blessings in every area. Once you’re open and completely aware of the world’s largesses, everything comes gushing in.

  11. Speaking of miracles – one of those happened to me recently. I admired a friend’s perfume and she told me it was a new one by Paco Rabanne. I had never heard of it and I liked the name. I didn’t think about it again. A week or so later, a lady I have business dealings with gave me a gift she has been holding for a while, and guess what? It was the very same perfume! I was floored. Miracles happen indeed.

  12. Thank you. Just Thank u. I may not be wealthy, or may never be, but I totally own the JOY of thinking you are. Thank u Pam.

  13. Great Article! Although, I just read Hill, and I’d say he realized this already, as he states, that you should all time not only imagine and wish for but live, feel and think as if you already have realized your desire. For me the definite outlining of your desire, the timeline and actions, is more a help to get a very precise picture in your mind replacing your thought of missing what you desire with exactly this awareness of plentyness which is already within you (if you want to).
