5 simple words that will stop complainers and other miscellaneous whiners in their tracks

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”—Mark Twain

As y’all know, I love my local power posses. Every single time, I get newly-inspired and learn cool stuff.

Last week, my friend Cindy shared this super-easy (and powerfully effective) tactic for steering conversations away from negativity.

When somebody is droning on about everything that’s going wrong in their life, simply ask this question:

“What do you want to happen?”

It works surprisingly well no matter what the person’s spiritual beliefs. If you say, “I’ll pray for you” or “Let the universe handle it” or my fallback line: “What you focus upon expands,” they might roll their eyes or even hit you.

But nobody can find a grievance in these five words. And it works like a veritable superchamp in steering conversations back to “what might be possible.”

  1. That is perfect. I have been looking for the right thing to say that would help people in my life move their energy toward more positive thoughts. And just think about the cumulative effects! Thanks so much!

  2. LOVE this, Pam! Thank you!! 🙂

P.S. Do you need an additional reviewer/advanced reader for E-Cubed? *Hands in the air.*

  3. Looking forward to trying this since there seems to be endless droning lately. And just found another perfect “greeting” coming to the end of your book, “What’s right?” instead of “How are you?” Which can lead to the wrong answer sometimes! Or, I might modify it a bit to “What’s good?”, or something like that. Loved the book, and also just discovering other folk who’ve read Florence Scoveld.

  4. BRILLIANT!!! AND…. A N D… just what I was looking for not just for the illustrious “them” but for me too when I find I am allowing myself to get sucked into old feelings/thoughts! 🙂 Rock on Pam!!

  5. what do you do when you are in a deep depression and anxiety and you don’t know anything anymore? how can I find a bit of joy?

      1. it is so painful that i am stuck. I am afraid to want something that i might suffer more or that i might fail in getting that. i don’t know where is my will. everything seems so meaningless and the only thing i feel is pain, everywhere just pain.
