“Perception selects, and makes the world you see.”–Course in Miracles

“The world is only in the mind of its maker.”
–Course in Miracles

Who in their right mind would walk into a restaurant, take a look at the menu and then order the dish they least desire?

Likewise, who would go shopping at Nordstrom’s and opt to carry the rack’s ugliest outfit up to the sales counter?

Yet, that’s what most of us do in our thinking, in our conversations. We focus on things we don’t want to happen. We focus on the fear, on the negative, on the lack.

And those decisions have a much bigger impact on your life than one ugly dress or a dish you can’t stand. You literally draw out from the universe whatever you focus upon. In other words, you get what you order. It’s an unalterable law.

Some make the argument that they can’t help what they think, that they have no control over the thoughts that pop into their minds. If you want to continue to believe that, it’s your choice. But just so you know, that argument is a monster-sized bucket of bull.

At every moment, we make the choice where we focus our energy. Always. One hundred percent of the time.

I’m not denying that our minds habitually return to the worn-out groove of thoughts we’ve had in the past and that it takes some re-training to start a new habit of focusing only on what we want, but we have the capacity to do it.

And, I hope you’ll join me in focusing only on new possibilities, on love, on what our world could become. Yes, it’s a radical thought, but it sure as heck beats thinking about the same ole, same ole from yesterday.

I’d love to see comments from people. What are you choosing to focus on from here on out?

  1. I am humored with how our innate desires for happiness, love and connection have become so disrupted. Humored that our minds have been so effectively trained for self-defeat! I sincerely ‘Thank YOU’ for every post you share, and send my prayers/rocket of desire…..for your continued success!

  2. Hi Pam! I absolutely LOVE your E2 book! I was excited to read you have been an ACIM student and teacher for many years and you don’t seem to have conflict with ACIM and Abraham/E2 material — I’d like to learn more about that. I love ALL of it but there seem to be some basic disparities between the two which perplexes me. ACIM says this world is a symptom of our tiny mad idea of separation, that our redemption has already been accomplished and we are already united at Home. It says we are eternally complete as is, no improvements or expansion necessary. Abraham says we are here to expand All That Is and keep adding to the Stream. I wonder how you bridge this apparent conflict of ideas?

P.S. I am in the middle of my first 48-hour experiment, and awaiting the arrival of my blessing! Yay!

    1. Hi Patti,

I used to believe there was a discrepancy, as well. Spent many an hour pondering, but now it all seems the same to me. The Course and the Abraham/E2 material are just two different ways of saying the same thing. Getting aligned with Source/God/the FP is our pathway to joy and the world’s largesse. Thanks for reminding me of some of my own dilemmas that I’m happy to see have now been rectified in my little pea brain…or at least most of the time.

      Blessings,

      Pam

      1. Pam, I received your response at 6:18 and my first 48 hour experiment was up at 6:19 this evening. One of the ideas I put out there as a “blessing idea” was a personal response from you to my post–a response to a pretty old comment online. I actually was hoping for a $100 bill to find it’s way to me, lol, but this counts too. Also, last night, my daughter, who not so long ago was extremely troubled and even self-destructive, expressed a level of gratitude about her life that sent chills up and down my spine and tears to well over, so I consider that another demonstration. On to Experiment #2.

Regarding ACIM vs. FP….my feeling is that it all connects even if there are little details that would argue otherwise. The important thing, I am beginning to realize, is to let in all the joy from every avenue.

Thank you for being part of my enlightenment.
        Patti
