Don’t delay your happy
“Awe was the first church. Before steeples. Before committees. Before men got involved and started making rules about skirts. Awe was there with its wild hair and muddy feet, saying: Look. Look again. Look until looking becomes love.”—Matt Moberg

A recent moment of awe for me was the Matt Moberg poem from which I jotted down the above quote.
The poem is so moving that I considered sending a copy to everyone I know.
Maybe (because not everybody wants to read an Odysseus-length poem) I’ll include the entire thing in the comments section below.
Taz is also on my mind (more than usual) because well, she would be turning 33 in two days if she hadn’t allegedly died.
I love that description of death which I stole from Megan Falley who uses it to describe her wife, Andrea Gibson, who allegedly succumbed to ovarian cancer a year ago.
Megan says, as I often do about Taz, that Andrea is still as present as she ever was.
The main difference now is Taz is privy to cosmic intel and not encumbered by time/space reality.
Once our understanding of reality gets updated and we begin to recognize our countless belief traps (death’s finality, for example), our old, limiting behaviors no longer make any sense.
Once we really get it–that love is the substrate of reality, that scarcity is non-existent and that there’s no need to fear or control anything–a whole new trust in life unfurls before us.
Once our energy and time is no longer sucked up in fear and trying (unsuccessfully, I might add) to control everything, life becomes free to put on a whole new, entirely beautiful stage play.
Here’s to Taz, to life, to remembering who we really are.
