Today’s fortune:Anything you damn well please is possible
“To miss the joy is to miss all.”—William James
My daughter’s friends used to play a game with fortune cookies. They’d break open their designated cookie, read their special message and then add the phrase “in bed” to the end of it.
For example, “You will inherit an unexpected sum of money”…in bed.
Or “This Friday will be an exciting time for you”……in bed.
You can imagine the giggles and the excited red faces this provokes in a gaggle of junior high girls.
Tosha Silver, author of Outrageous Openness, decided to replace “in bed” with a different phrase.
Whenever anyone complains to her, ”Oh I’ll never have enough money” or “I just can’t seem to find the right guy,” she adds “without God.”
The point is that without God (or what I call the Field of Infinite Potentiality), you might be right. Your complaints might have some validity.
However, once you offer up your fears, your demons, your challenges to the bigger thing, they don’t stand a chance. They have no power.
As some wise person once said, “You can never solve your problems on the level they were first created.”
And since it is always me that devises the “issues” I think are haunting me, it is blatantly obvious that I don’t have the tools to fix them.
But the bigger thing does. Always. One hundred percent of the time.
So whatever limitation you feel like arguing for, just add Tosha’s phrase.
Ergo:
I don’t know how to find a new job…without God.
Or
I can’t seem to lose that last 15 pounds….without God.
Because WITH God, WITH the Field of Potentiality, you can do anything you damn well please.
