“It’s alive!!”—My new tip for making beautiful things happen

“Be wide open and ready.”—Patch Adams

Years ago when I wrote an article on Providencia for the Washington Post, I was torn. This little island off the coast of Colombia was unknown and so pristine that the airport (or rather the little strip that served as the airport) greeted guests with “Welcome” written out in conch shells.

It was like the Caribbean before it became THE Caribbean. Publicizing it, I worried, might garner crowds and detract from its charm.

That’s how I feel about this manifesting tip I’m about to share.

Last New Year’s Eve, while visiting my sister in Savannah, Georgia, I plucked a stick from the beach at Tybee Island and wrote in big four-foot letters, “E-Squared will become a huge international sensation.” I let the waves take it out into the world.

Admittedly, not a marketing strategy covered in most college textbooks.

But it worked so well that last month, when visiting Anna Maria Island, I decided to take another stick and write, “Oprah invites me to talk about E-Squared on Super Soul Sunday.”

Last week, her producers called my publicist asking for video.

So while I still write daily in my journal, you can bet that when I’m in Carlsbad next month visiting Hay House, I’ll be affirming something new into the beach.

  1. Congratulations! I have had some awesome things happen to me since reading your book. I have recommended it to family, friends, and random acquaintances. The book is wonderful and so is your message. Best of luck to you and much love this holiday season.

  2. Pam, I love this. Fortunately I live in Los Angeles… and I can’t lie, I’m already figuring out when I can next drop by the beach for a little convo with the Universe… 🙂

  3. Great article Pam. I love it… thank you for sharing… Can you give me a tip for the following: I’m 40 years old and I moved out and I’m learning how to live on my own for the 1st time..and I don’t know how to live alone.. I feel scared at night to sleep alone because I feel someone might try to break in…and I hear all sorts of noises and I’ve tried many of your tips for your book, and I can’t seem to find a solution to this..ThanksMaria

    1. Best advice? Start telling a new story. Even if you have to lie for awhile. Fake it ’til you make it is some of the best advice I’ve ever heard. I mean think about it, you have all sorts of NEW opportunities. This, with a slight shift in attitude, can be the BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN to you. Make it so.

    2. Hi Maria-
I lived alone for the first time when I was forty, also. My partner of thirteen years left me, so I had a broken heart too. I didn’t have any family close by. It was hard at first but then I kept myself busy going to new places, meeting
new people. My life opened up in so many ways.

Befriend your neighbors so you know someone is close by. Make sure your home is secure to help feel safer. Keep an angel statue on your nightstand to watch over you when you sleep. Practice Louise Hay affirmations: I am safe. Play soothing music before you sleep. In time, I think you will feel at peace and and will see so many new opportunities open up for you. Best wishes! – Michelle

  4. What an AWESOME idea! @<3 it. Now to find a beach in this frozen northwest ohio weather. =)

  5. Dear Pam

I love receiving your e mails, they give me such hope!     Your book will definitely be an international success, that is for sure.   I purchased it and want to read it through again a couple of times.

Sometime back you mentioned E cubed….. do you have another book out yet?

    Wishing you billions of blessings

    love

    Carol

    1. A stream, lake, or river will do! Water will continue to “hand off” until it ultimately reaches the ocean. What’s really important is the Universe will become aware of your intent. Think it, write it, say it, release it and expect it!

  6. What a delightfully inspiring post, Pam! I’m not headed to a beach any time soon (that I’m aware of) but, hey, I see no reason that the beautiful, unblemished layer of snow behind my house wouldn’t provide the perfect medium for the same activity. 😉

  7. Almost every time I watch Super Soul Sunday I wonder when she is going to have you on there. I wrote in my yearly goals/manifesting notebook 3 years ago that I wanted to go see The Oprah Show in her last season airing and I ended up in the audience of 300 Ultimate Viewers that she took to Australia! And to think, I simply just wanted to meet her 🙂 Can’t wait to see you on SSS sitting with Oprah in her backyard in Hawaii!!!

  8. Love it – and the quote from Patch Adams was wonderful! Haven’t thought about that doctor/clown in years. Last night I picked up a list of requests to the universe I had made a week or two ago. I had forgotten about it, but I could tick off more than half the list: DONE. Thank you for your book and your help in clarifying the needs and wants and the ways of making them come true. Amazing!

  9. Yay! Congrats!!

    To your success!

  10. Pam-just got your E2 book from my library and decided, while I’m working (or playing) through it, that my whole family needs this one! I just ordered five more copies for Xmas gifts, one for eachof my 3 adult kids and one for my husband. The last one is for me, ’cause I Love to scribble all over my notebooks, and this one will be No exception. Congrats on a winner and Happy Holidays. Now I just need to manifest that they will all benefit from your sager wisdom as much as I have . LOL Trish

  11. Pam, just love, love , love your book and huge congrats on the phone call from Oprah’s producer.
l went to the beach this morning with a friend and her little boy, together we covered the shore line in dreams and beautiful words so thank you !

  12. Our beaches are frozen solid right now (I live Up North in Michigan), but I think with my ski pole I can easily write my intention in the snow! It will be covered up in short order since it’s been snowing every day for several weeks now – but still worth a shot.

  13. I love this idea, too! There is something magical about the ocean because it is a great reminder of the abundance of the Universe. Like others in this comments thread, I am landlocked. But as the full moon appears tonight, I wonder if I could use the same idea, but instead write it on a piece of paper and burn it in my galvanized pail under the full moon? I have done that before to let go of limiting beliefs…but I like this idea of setting an intention and offering it out to the Universe to manifest. I will give it a try…Thanks for the inspiration, Pam!

  14. Hi Pam – I knew it all along!…Be looking for you on Soul Sunday..I just returned from Calsbad…5 day workshop of about 50 people with Deepak and Jean Houston…Amazing… Merry Christmas! Love and Your Overland Park friend, Charlotte

    1. Woo-hoo! Charlotte. I’d love to hear all about it. I used to take seminars with Jean Houston in Overland Park back in the day. She’s fabulous!!

  15. Hey! It’s nice to see things happen the way you want it to be. I love quotes and I’d like to share one with you: “You miss 100% of shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky.

    What’s your favorite quote?

  16. Today, I wrote my message in the sand. “I will create a business to serve seniors.” Within a few minutes the waves took my message. I have been working on my business plan for sometime. As the waves covered my message I wept for joy. I kept the stick!
