Miracles and the four-minute mile
“I do not believe in miracles, I rely on them.”— Yogi Bhajan
So you might wonder why I’m always sharing miracle stories here on the blog. Those stories that tend to begin with some version of “You are never going to believe this.”
I feel it’s my duty to point them out (and throw massive amounts of confetti) because miracles, to some people, seem too-good-to-be true, seem too pie-in-the sky.
We need to hear (over and over again) that miracles are normal, that they happen ALL the time. Because until we can embrace a new possibility, it will remain beyond our purview.
Just like the ability to run a four-minute mile was considered ridiculous nonsense until Roger Bannister finally did it on May 6, 1954 (and has since been repeated many times), it’s ridiculous nonsense to skeptics that they have any say in miracles.
So, with the following three stories, I hereby invoke the four-minute-mile rule, the one that says that if one person did it, the rest of us can do it, too.
So as we review ACIM Lesson 219, please enjoy these tales that recently plopped into my inbox:
1. “Within the past 5-7 years, I have been mesmerized by hawks. I love to watch them soar high in the sky. I guess part of that is that they hardly ever have to flap their wings, they just soar with beauty. The other day I read the part (in Thank & Grow Rich) about collecting our gifts and the next day, I was driving home from work and low and behold there was a hawk about 6 feet in front of my car soaring at about the height of my car. The wing span is tremendous and breathtaking. I wish I had been in the situation where I could have pulled over to watch more intensely but I guess I saw what I was supposed to see.”
2. “I just wanted to say how grateful I am for having had the opportunity to read your books. In fact, your book about gratitude “Thank and Grow Rich” has completely changed my life.
“I used to be very depressed, for years I struggled with anxiety and depression, and your book was the open channel to a new reality for me. It actually inspired me so much that, I am creating a Social Project (which I plan to turn into a charity very soon) in Sydney, Australia, to help the homeless and disadvantaged people through educational and personal development programs, alternative and complementary types of therapies, and inspirational talks. And, guess WHAT? In tribute to your book, the name of my project is “Gratitude – A Good Attitude”. Thank you so much for inspiring me, you have helped me to change my life for the better
3. “Thank you!! I don’t have a lot of time to be able to read, but I do have a lot of windshield time and I have listened to Thank and Grow Rich, E-Squared and E-Cubed.
“I started focusing on the law of attraction three years ago when I decided to change my career. I had no earthly idea how it was going to happen but I truly believe that it would. I’m under qualified, under educated, And just plain shaky.
“Out of the blue I was offered the position at a wedding in Richmond Virginia. It was absolutely mind blowing.
When we moved, we left our beautiful home that my wife and I had built. I was detached and stressed. We were moving to a new area, putting the children in new schools.
“I was trying every possible trick or scenario that I thought would help my house. The market in my area is terrible and my house was quite expensive. So in other words, I needed a lot of dominoes to fall into perfect place so we could move out of our new 900 square-foot apartment where my daughters had to share a very small room and bed and into a house.
“When I downloaded Thank and Grow Rich, all of the E-Squared party games began working like magic. I started practicing and genuinely giving thanks for what was right in front of my face the entire time.
“Since January of 18, I have made 35k of extra money out of nowhere, bought a house that was recently built in the neighborhood we wanted to move into. We sold our other house and found a puppy after I gave all my worries to the FP, and Sold our other house.
I get so happy and I am so thankful that I cry often. Your book has changed my life. It’s not because we are able to afford materialistic belongings, but because the void within myself is being completely filled.”
