How to win a free trip to Ireland

“If your mind isn’t cluttered by unnecessary things, this could be the best day of your life.”—From a message left on my voicemail by The Zing of the Possibility Alliance

Some authors write about changing your life through healthy eating. Or meditating. Others suggest writing affirmations or visualizing

As for me, I offer one easy message: Open your joy channels.

When you get happy, the largesse of the universe can’t help but rush in.

It’s so easy that most people walk right by it, they roll their eyes and think, “Sure, Pam! It can’t be that easy.”

So I’ll say it one more time. It really IS that easy.

In my power posse yesterday, we had a blast sharing stories about just this topic. We decided that part of our mission and why we love this group SO FRICKIN’ MUCH is because we take time to register, to note, to document (well, we don’t really write it down) how frequently the universe works in our favor.

Frank brought in a stuffed monkey (says he’s doing the extra credit from Experiment One in E-Cubed), Nikki told us about the free pizza she won after taking the day off work and Rhonda shared this story that clearly demonstrates the awesome fact that celebrating life brings more to celebrate.

She and her husband, an architect, went to an awards banquet at a small Catholic college where he’s doing some design work. Sitting behind them was a table of eight or so nuns. They were all somewhere between 60 and 90 years old, Rhonda said

“Now, I’ve been to lots of these banquets and they’re always nice, polite affairs. But at this one, after all the awards had been given and the ceremonies had commenced, a DJ came out and started playing dance music,” Rhonda said. “My jaw nearly dropped.”

And as Kool and the Gang started in with “Celebrate Good Times,” those nuns got up and started dancing. Really getting into it.

“They didn’t sit down once,” Rhonda said. “And then the emcee got up to pull a name out of the hat for the grand prize trip to Ireland.”

You guessed it?

“Mary Katherine!” One of the “We’re gonna have a good time tonight” nuns.

If you’re anywhere near Denver this coming weekend, Rhonda and I will be at the Hay House “I Can Do It” conference. I’m giving a workshop on Sunday and we’re both psyched about meeting Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay (we’re affirming she’s going to make a surprise appearance), Cheryl Richardson and all the other cool Hay House authors. It’s not too late to get a ticket.

And in the meantime, tell me in the comments section below what you’re going to do today to “Celebrate Good Times.”

The two magic words that can change your life forever

“Resistance is futile.”—The Borg from Star Trek

If you’ve read E-Cubed, you know that one of the experiments involves asking the universe for an inside joke. Here’s a funny story that came in yesterday.

“As I was sitting by my pool reading the first experiment, I had just finished the part about asking the universe for an inside joke. All of a sudden, the wind kicked up. Our eucalyptus tree began raining it’s leaves down on me and all over the yard and pool and it didn’t stop, making a complete mess! All of a sudden, I started laughing and laughing!!!! I got my joke almost immediately!!!!”

Speaking of jokes, I’d like to remind everybody of the two magic words that I use continuously when I need to remember that we’re making this world up. That it’s nothing but a product of our perception. And that at any time, we can change our perception and change our world. Here’s the reminder:

Sherlock Holmes, if he were to get involved, would probably surmise that I learned the magic words I’m about to dispense from one of the speakers at the Rotterdam I Can Do It! Conference.

And he’d be right about one thing. I did learn these words at the conference. But not from one of the speakers.

On one of the breaks, I met this really cool volunteer named Natasja Frowijn. Write that name down. You will be hearing from this fabulous 29-year-old (yes, a mere 29 years old!) who healed her body after a near-fatal scooter accident. For five years, she was bed-ridden in excruciating pain. After doctor after doctor told her she would live the rest of her life in a wheelchair (if she was lucky), she was ready to take a boatload of morphine and call it a life.

But instead, she decided that she would heal herself–not for her family, not for her husband–but for herself.

“I decided that that not only would I heal myself, but I would go on to live an awesome life,” Natasja told me.

She appealed to her grandfathers on the other side. She said to the universe, “Show me.”

That day, she “just happened” to turn on Oprah (yes, Oprah is even in Holland) and saw Louise Hay talking about how she healed herself from cancer. Natasja had never heard of Louise Hay, but that was clear enough guidance. She was on her way.

That week, a woman knocked on her door offering an 8-week course on Louise’s “You Can Heal Your Life.” From that moment on, Natasja has been able to draw into her life pretty much every thing she ever wants. For her, it’s a game.

Today, she’s completely healthy and whole. She works part-time as a nurse and part-time as a medium, talking to folks on the other side. She’s beautiful and fabulous and I’m so grateful I was able to meet her.

As we were talking, I thought, “Wow, this girl should write a book” and guess what? She has already started. Not five minutes later, a publisher came up and said she wanted to see her book. Although Natasja is holding out for Hay House (and believe me if Natasja wants it, it’s as good as a done deal), I was amazed at how quickly she drew this to her. Many people spend decades trying to attract a publisher.

So you’re probably wondering, what are the magic words? Don’t let their simplicity fool you. The words are “It’s okay.”

No matter what. No matter what is happening to you, it’s important to acknowledge that, “it’s okay.

No matter how you feel, “it’s okay”. No matter what you think, “it’s okay.”

Most of us, instead of being “okay” with our lives, get all balled up with judgment and fear. We exhaust ourselves trying to make things different.

The loving intelligence, the big Quantum playground knows exactly how to play out in your life. But when our little pea brains get involved (“Oh, no! I shouldn’t feel this way. I must stop this now.” Kick-kick-kick. “I’d better call my friends and hash this out. Or join a support group, start a blog.”), we put out a murky energy that blocks the healing current.

Our thoughts emit an electrical charge. And when the thoughts are busy “not being okay,” we put up a roadblock to our good.

“It’s okay” is the energy of love. So whatever is happening in your life, simply say, “It’s okay” and let the loving flow of the universe do the heavy lifting.

“Whatever you are doing, love yourself for doing it. Whatever you are feeling, love yourself for feeling it – Thaddeus Golas

“I am a beloved child of the universe and the universe lovingly takes care of me now.”- Louise Hay

We celebrate Abe and Martin’s birthday with a national holiday. I’d like to propose today, October 8, as an international holiday to honor another great soul: Louise Hay who has devoted her life to love and teaching so many of us that there is nothing more valuable than to love and respect ourselves—just as we are—no matter what.

I was witness to her legacy the past two weekends at I Can Do It!’s in Rotterdam and London. Over and over, I heard speakers reflecting back Louise’s words, from Anita Moorjani, author of Dying to Be Me, who said the most significant lesson she learned from her near-death experience was to love herself to Jessica Ortner, author of The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence, who wisely pointed out, “We can never hate ourselves thin.”

So today, in honor of Ms. Hay’s 88th birthday, I’d like to encourage everyone who reads this post to get up, walk to the closest mirror, look yourself deep in the eyes and remind yourself how deeply and passionately you are loved.

Happy Birthday, Louise, and thank you for rocking the love.

5 top reasons choosy inspirational authors choose Hay House

“It is impossible to see what you do not believe.” –Course in Miracles

On Thursday, driving from Del Mar, California to Carlsbad to meet the Hay House team, I heard Leonardo Dicaprio being interviewed about his new flick, “Wolf of Wall Street.”

He was talking about a scene where he and Jonah Hill’s character did so many qualuuds they couldn’t walk. They reshot the scene five or six times, but evidently it was so much fun that the two of them looked at each other and said, “Can you believe we get paid to do this?’

That pretty much sums up how I felt about my day at Hay House. I mean, where else can you hang out with a whole office of people who already know that what you think is what you get.

Hay House staffers joke that they’ve “drunk the Kool-aid,” but here’s why, if you’re an author of inspirational books, they’re the only way to fly.

1. They have a captive market. E-Squared was my 16th book, but it’s the first to make the New York Times bestseller list. Because Hay House has cornered the market for readers wanting to raise their consciousness, they were the perfect publisher to reach the kind of readers that like books like E-Squared.

2. They’re a whole different breed of publisher. I’ve worked with five or six different publishing houses throughout my career (which tells you a bit about my jack of all trades tendencies) and while I’m grateful to all of them, none of them own their own radio station (publicity is the holy grail for authors), their own fan club (the Hay House list grows exponentially every week) and their own seminars where authors get a whole different platform for reaching readers.

3. The president of the company knows authors by name. Reid Tracy, the president of Hay House, took me to lunch while I was there. It’s not uncommon for me to get personal emails from this publishing dynamo. Not once, did this kind of thing happen with my other publishers. In fact, I have no idea who the presidents of those publishers even were.

Reid told me that Wayne Dyer, probably the best known self-help author on the planet, was still getting messages from his previous publisher (and this is after several bestsellers) addressed to Dwayne Dwyer.

4. Ya gotta love the founder. What self-respecting self-help groupie (and yes, I’m a card-carrying member) hasn’t read Louise Hay’s seminal book, “You Can Heal your Life.” I while I haven’t met her yet (that’s one of my upcoming intentions) I love that I looked in the same mirrors that she has so many times looked into and said, “Hey good looking. How ya doing?”

5. Elbow rubbing with the best. After my meeting with the Heal Your Life website team, I was invited back to their humongous bookshelf, handed a canvas bag and told, “Help yourself.” I grabbed so many books that my suitcase on yesterday’s flight home was overweight. Not that you can really be overweight with positive books like that.

For anyone who isn’t already partaking of the Start the New You seminar going on right now, here’s a link to my interview that ran today.

I love all you guys. Keep the joy channels wide open and ready to receive.

It’s time to push the reset button.

“If beating ourselves up worked, we’d all be thin, rich and happy by now.”—Cheryl Richardson

Louise Hay, my mentor, my publisher and the most awesome 87-year-old on the planet, recommends mirror work. That’s where, rather than asking the mirror, mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all, you look deep into your own eyes and tell the reflection in that bloody mirror that you are beautiful, fabulous, worthy, talented, creative and all sorts of other truths that far out-trump being “fair.”

My friend Rhonda told me she was watching Louise and Cheryl Richardson give a lecture called “You Can Create an Exceptional Life.”  Louise, who touts mirror work on a daily basis, reached into her bra at one point, pulled out a tiny mirror, looked into it and said, “Hey, good-looking. How’s it going?”

Now, that’s someone who walks her talk.

I, too, have been thinking about mirrors.  But more about the big mirror called life. Everything we see out there is a reflection of what’s in here. Inside ourselves.

And just like you wouldn’t notice your lipstick was smudged and try to fix it on the mirror, you can’t really fix the “problems” in your life by fixing them in the mirror of your life. You have to go inside. That’s where everything originates and where all solutions lie.

Blessings stalk me like Freddy Krueger

“Definitely, awesome, yea!”–line from my favorite new movie, The Way, Way Back.

Before E-Squared came out, I got a personal letter from Louise Hay. I’m pretty sure she sends it to all new authors, wishing them success on their books.

But, for me, it was like hearing from Gandhi or Martin Luther King, Jr. or maybe from Bill Gates with a note attached that he’d recently deposited a couple of his millions into my bank account. To this day, Louise’s letter is sitting in the special drawer beside my bed.

I read her book, You Can Heal Your Life, many years ago and I’ve been a groupie forever.

So earlier this week, I got yet another awesome surprise. Shelley Anderson, Louise’s executive personal assistant, (how cool of a job is that?), wrote to tell me she’d started reading E-Squared over the weekend. She has been working with Louise for 15 years and using these creation principles for four decades. In other words, this woman has some good ju-ju goin’ on.

She gave me permission to share her lab results:

Exercise #1: Blessing will show up. I wrote that at 2:28 pm. At 5:00 pm I got home and a bouquet of flowers were waiting for me.

Exercise #2 part 1: think of colored cars. I picked green because they are rarer. I also picked the number 25. I saw 24 green cars and trucks on the way home Thursday. #25 was parked across the street from my house.

Exercise #2 part 2: yellow butterfly. I figured this one would be tougher. Went to grocery store, chiropractor, dry cleaners – nada. Then went over to Pala Casino and played video poker which I love to do. I got a royal flush! Won $1,000! Decided to celebrate with some ice cream at the casino and saw a penny slot machine. I hate them but guess what? This one had a gal on the front with a YELLOW BUTTERFLY. I had to go over there and play the machine! BTW the machine had NO butterflies as part of the game. LOL Oh and, Um, after playing for 30 minutes I won the jackpot: $942.08!!!

Thanks for sharing Shelley!
