Why I’m the luckiest person on the Planet, Episode 13

“Do not try to limit what you see by your narrow little beliefs.”—A Course in Miracles

Some people collect sports cars. Others collect rare and expensive wine. I collect quotes. They’re much easier to carry around.

Today, for example, I added the above quote to my collection as well as these two gems from A Course in Miracles:

“I will receive whatever I request.”

and

“It is as true now as it ever will be.”

So the reason I’m feeling so lucky is because other people are starting to quote little ole me. They’re even making cute little internet images. Nick Ortner, the tapping guru who just announced he’s about to have a new little tapping maestro (congratulations, Nick and Brenna!!) got thousands of likes for the “Something amazingly awesome….” quote.

I’ve talked about my A.A. 2.0. program many times, but for those who are new to the party, here’s the blog post that spawned that now-viral quote.

“What’s the point of being realistic?”–Will Smith

My name is Pam G. and, as of today, I am launching a brand new chapter of A.A. Unlike Version 1.0, my A.A. stands for Amazing Awesomeness and it only has two steps.

Step #1: Admit that… “something amazingly awesome is going to happen to me today.” First thing every morning, before throwing off your covers, before leaping out of bed (and it doesn’t take long in this program before participants do leap out of bed with joy and expectation), before firing up the old Mr. Coffee, proclaim to the world that something unexpected, exciting and amazingly awesome is going to happen to you today. It takes what, three, four seconds? Yet it’s one of the most important things you will ever do. The first few minutes of every morning pre-paves the next 24 hours with positive expectations. It sets up a powerful intention, a forecast on which you can focus.

And it never fails to come true.

Step #2: Come to believe… in blessings and miracles. Pretend you’re a private investigator assigned the task of finding all the beauty and largesse in the world. The dominant paradigm might suggest otherwise, but practiced with regularity, this ritual will force you to see things in a whole different way. Instead of looking for problems, be on the hunt for new blessings. Take on the mission each day of reporting back with at least three pieces of amazing awesomeness, three blessings that are different than the day before. I often liken myself to Lewis or Clark, scouting important new territory.

Because we get out of life whatever we focus on, practicing these two simple steps has the power to override and overturn the accepted paradigm.

Like Bill W.’s A.A, that has reformed the lives of millions, this new program (A.A. 2.0) can transform a “nameless squad of empty glass thinkers.”

I invite others to join me in tweeting their blessings (only rule is it has to be different each day) to my Twitter feed. Or feel free to leave your blessings here. By expecting and looking for a different, more kinder reality, we can, together in one jubilantly mighty whoop, uplift and lighten this tired old world.

“Dance, when you’re broken open. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance when you’re perfectly free.” ― Rumi

“Sometimes all any of us needs in life is for someone to hold our hand and walk next to us.” ― James Frey

I promised my new friend Linda Ryan I’d participate in what’s called a blog hop.

And since today is the final day for this big online dance, I figured I’d better start do-si-do-ing.

The idea is you answer the following four questions and then run the bio and photo of the person who invited you.

So, thanks, Linda for including me on your dance card. And I’m really glad you didn’t have the anticipated heart attack.

Here are the answers to your four questions.

1. What am I working on/writing?

I just finished a story for CNN on the 10 best beaches you’ve never heard of. Before that, I finished the manuscript for E-Cubed, the follow-up to E-Squared. Probably the most unusual thing I’m doing is embarking on what I’m calling “my year of speaking dangerously.” I’ve been invited to speak, literally all over the world. Next week I go to Mexico City. The week after, New York and it just keeps on rolling with Australia and Holland and Finland and Canada—all the way through 2015. At the end of this “dangerous year,” I’m going to assess how I like this new component of sharing the love. I’m also planning to get back to my TV series, Off the Grid.

2. How does my work differ from other of its genre?

Tough question since, after all, we’re all one. But I’d say my main focus is on play and having fun. I believe the best way to “really get” the principles I write about in E-Squared is to let go of all the rules and play around with them like a merry prankster.

3. Why do I write what I write?

My main goal as a writer is to be a secretary for the Divine. I try to hook up to this bigger thing and simply take dictation.

4. How does my writing process work?

Hmmm. It changes all the time, but mostly I invoke the muses (the higher thing I was talking about) to have at it.

Thanks, Linda!!

Why it’s time to press the play button

“A little nonsense now and then is cherished by the wisest men.”—Roald Dahl

This morning–Monday bright and early–I was invited to a party. I don’t think the hosts called it that. Officially, it’s a weekly mastermind group started by four life coaches who call in from all over the country to talk “possibility.”

Because they’re currently reading E-Squared and going through the experiments, they graciously invited me on to the call. Since “I’m just a girl who cain’t say no” to anybody talking about intentions and law of attraction and well, anything that’s fun, I, of course, said, “I’d love to.”

They shared a great story about the Volkswagen Jetta Principle, the one that states: “You impact the energy field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.”

Rather than looking for yellow butterflies and sunset beige cars, two of my suggestions that many readers took quite literally, they showed a little initiative and decided they, as a group, were going to find orange boats and priests.

First off, I LOVE their creativity. How fun are priests and orange boats!

And since, well, they’re “professional manifesters” (most coaches are well-versed in most of these principles), all four easily found orange boats and priests, even the coach who lives in Arizona, far from a body of water.

So, here’s the take-away:

Hit the play button. Together, the four of them, made this principle really fun. As Linda Ryan, said “I was almost giddy with excitement.” Jean Kuhn, another one of these amazing coaches, joked that she found herself smiling eagerly at every man walking down the street, hoping for a priest collar. And one of them even found a troll doll dressed like a priest. Who knew?

What you’re looking for might be right under your nose. As Linda shared on her blog post, “Within 30 seconds of deciding on orange boats and priests, I became aware of how much orange was within five feet of me. It had been there all along, but I didn’t notice it until we started talking about it.”

One of the things I’m writing about in E-Cubed, the new book I’m currenly writing for Hay House, is the fact that everything necessary for electricity was available even during cavemen times. They just didn’t know to a) look for it or b) how to put the principles together.

The good news is we do!! And we’re learning how to use these spiritual principles to make a world that works for everyone.

Your preconceived notions tend to get in the way. One of my playmates on the call was at a marina during her 48 hours and thought, “Hmm, this should be easy. I’ll find an orange boat here.” Instead, she found it in a catalog.

She also decided to drive down a street where she knew there was a Catholic church. “Never know when a priest could emerge.”

Instead, she was led to a photograph of Buddhist monks…..wearing, you guessed it, bright orange.

The point is that once we decide HOW our intentions will manifest, we put a big straitjacket around the Field of Potentiality, giving it exactly one avenue to deliver our gifts.

The F.P. is infinite and has gazillions (actually way more) of avenues to deliver your blessings and miracles.

Why would I want to give it my ideas which, as I repeatedly have pointed out, are invariably teensy-weensy compared to infinitude.

So, I just want to reiterate. Spiritual principles are meant to provide joyful, big-ass fun, not a bunch of rules and regulations.

This is a party, folks, a love train and together we can turn this orange boat around.
