It’s the year to change the pre-set buttons in your consciousness

“Do a loony-goony dance

Cross the kitchen floor.

Put something silly in the world.

That ain’t been there before.”—Shel Silverstein

Car radios have buttons to pre-set favorite stations, making it easy to find, say KKFI and KPRS. Our minds work the same way. We program in certain “experiences” on our pre-set buttons and then we forget (or don’t allow) anything else.

But just so you know. THERE. IS. SO. MUCH. MORE.

I loved this story that came in this morning. And, yes, it falls into the SO.MUCH.MORE category.

A woman in Norway was doing The Dude Abides experiment from E-Squared, the one where you ask for a sign from the higher intelligence. Here’s her story:

“When I decorated the Xmas tree this year I noticed that the star on top no longer worked to my disappointment. In Norway we have a Xmas song where one of the lines goes like this: “And high in the top of the tree the shining star, that shines to remind us of our God” But my star did not shine this year.

“Then I did the first exercise and said, “Ok God, send me a sign or a blessing within the next 48 hours. And I started looking everywhere for a sign, I walked into traffic signposts and walls because I was looking after a sign.

“When it was only two hours left of the 48 hours, I sat on my sofa and thought that it did not work, I had not seen any signs, but then it happened- the star in top of my tree suddenly started shining (the light suddenly started working) and I almost fell off my sofa.

“All the Xmas without the shining star, and then on the day I was going to pack away the tree, (and with two hours left of the experiment) it started to shine.”

Needless to say, she left the tree (with the shining star) up for a couple more days.

So, even though most of us have pre-set the button that says, “things that are broken are broken forever,” she found a whole different radio station with a whole different song.

Why I’m the luckiest person on the planet, Part Six.

“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.”
― Thornton Wilder

Some mornings when I’m running to pickleball (no need to be impressed. It’s a mere one block away), I repeat over and over in my head, “Thank you, God. Thank you, God. Thank you, God.”

And I feel so joyful, so lucky. I’ve found that the more I focus on my blessings, the more blessings knock on my door. It’s like Halloween night when so many adorable ballerinas, princesses and even miniature zombies show up to delight me. And all I have to do is provide a bowl of candy.

Yesterday, one of those blessings showed up in the form of Kris Carr, the bestselling author of Crazy Sexy Diet, Crazy Sexy Kitchen and lots of other yummy books.

She’s a former New York dancer, actress and photographer (all things that impress the heck out of little old Kansas me) who overcame cancer by changing her diet, boosting her immune system and focusing on the body’s natural healing power.

Yesterday, in a complete surprise to me, she wrote about E-Squared on her blog. Now, this is a celebrity who has been on Oprah. And because she was kind enough to mention her experience with the Dude Abides, the first experiment in my book, she introduced her millions of fans to little ole me.

Here’s a link if anyone cares to check it out.

So, thank you, Kris Carr, thank you, “Dude” and thank you to everyone who makes my morning affirmation “Something amazingly awesome is going to happen to me today” come true day after day.

In honor of Thanksgiving, tell me in the comments section below why you’re the luckiest person on the planet.

Let there be room in your life for magic.

“I’m in love with everyone.”—Michael Beckwith

I was lucky. Some writers experience envy when others succeed. I’ve had plenty of other “bad thinking habits,” but envy wasn’t one of them. I’ve always been able to celebrate others’ success, partly because I know I’m connected to everyone and also because I totally get it, that if they can do it, I can do it, too.

So today, in keeping with my motto “Celebrate what you want to see more of,” I’d like to celebrate two awesome stories that popped up in my inbox yesterday.

Those reading my book know that Experiment No#1, the Dude Abides Principle, asks readers to request a blessing, a clear sign from the universe that it has their back.

GloZell Green, my new favorite comedian, got her blessing at the exact hour she requested. Dr. Oz called and invited her on his show. That girl has some good manifesting ju-ju!!

Another reader, who I plan to interview for E-Cubed (my mission, after all, is spreading the magic) wrote to tell me that when she and her husband tried the Dude Abides Experiment, they got a $10,000 gift, no strings attached. And as she says, “We hadn’t heard from this guy (he’s a priest) in four years and we’re not even Catholic anymore.”

So my word today is “Celebrate!” Celebrate the victories and celebrate the things that don’t look like victory.
