Allow the day to delight you

“The cheapest workout you can do is writing gratitudes.”—Neil Pasricha

I want to start this post with a big sloppy thank you for all you gloriously beautiful blog readers.

I am keenly aware that your decision to read and comment on my posts is a gift to me and my work. I feel extraordinarily blessed that you take the time to honor me this way.

I’ve been thinking about blessings and gratitude A LOT, noticing that when I fail to practice gratitude, the mind gremlins can get rather chatty. Noticing how much I miss when I don’t practice hour-by-hour gratitude.

When I forget to count my blessings, I tend to overlook the gazillion gifts life is offering me: beautiful songs, stunning art, four-year-olds skipping at the park, to name just a few.

It’s like being on a vacation to let’s say Paris and totally missing the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Élysées.

I mean just seeing the light coming from every person’s eyes, every tree, every flower is wow! such a gift. I mean, what a world I get to experience. And I don’t have to do a single thing to earn this tsunami of love and care and blessings.

Except take the time to notice.

At all times, I’m either saying “thank you” or “woe is me.” One precludes the other. Both can’t exist at the same time.

That’s why every morning, I choose to put Newton’s first law of motion into action with my A.A. 2.0 proclamation (“Something extraordinarily epic is going to happen to me today”) followed by texting three amazingly awesome discoveries to my possibility posse.

Simply stated, ye ole Isaac discovered that “An object set in motion will stay in motion.” Until, of course, another force (say the “woe is me” force) compels it onto a different trajectory.

Hour-by-hour gratitude is by far the easiest, most potent spiritual practice I know. #222 Forever!

  1. Thank you so much Pam. Your words are always so inspirational to me. And it is always something I needed to understand at ‘this moment’

  2. Pam ..I realize that if I’m not practicing gratitude….I’m enveloped in anxiety, fear, anger…
    My choice… I’LL CHOOSE GRATITUDE!!!!
Also, I just saw a PHOTO of a hedgehog in the craziest of places!!!! Somewhere you WOULD NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS EXPECT TO SEE A HEDGEHOG!!! IT WAS ON THE WINDOWSILL IN A MEDICAL OFFICE . IT WAS SOMEONES PET!!! I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF YOU AND TAZ!!!!! IT MADE ME 😁😁😁 SMILE.
    IM VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOU!!

  3. Thank you, Pam. This post resonates so strongly. Prior to the gift of knowing “Awakeness,” the mind of my character used to take so many of life’s wonderful blessings for granted–all in an effort to get to an imaginary–non-existent–future. 🙏🏻

  4. Thank you Pam
One of the many habits I have developed to remain sane is to write the word love several times first thing in the morning, I have been doing this for 20 years,
    With love
    Marianne

  5. Great job Pam.
I’m trying to get reinvigorated by all the possible opportunities available to me, even at thus advanced age..

  6. If you want to let a difficult relationship go, be grateful to this person. Even if you think they don’t ‘deserve’ it. Resent someone and they stick to you like glue. Be grateful for them and the person will leave your life.

  7. Pam, your posts are like a gift in my in-box, from a special friend. It’s always like “oh boy, a present from Pam!!!! Thank you for sharing, reminding us all of the wonder and beauty of this magnificent world we all cocreate. Thank you and best wishes to you, and all the other readers. Happy spring (in the northern hemisphere) or happy autumn (for the southern hemisphere) and joy to the world. Peace and blessings.

  8. Pam, you are amazing your positivity makes my day. I’ve come along time buying your paper books or hearing you on audible…thank you with gratitude 😎

  9. And again, spot on, you always seem to be! I was just thinking about gratitude this morning and what an important topic it is and than I read your post. But…. how do you practise hourly gratitude. I seem to get caught up in lifes never ending things, I guess that goes for most people…

  10. Thank you, love this, and perfect timing, of course. Yesterday, a lifelong friend who I only occasionally get to connect with, called me and gave me gratitude and appreciation for something I did probably a decade ago and had even forgotten about–and that was to tell her about your E-squared book!

    1. It’s amazing how long these acts of kindness last. A writer friend of mine told another writer friend that it was something she had said 10 years ago that kept her going. The woman who said it didn’t even remember the compliment, but it held magical juju for years!!

  11. Thank you.
I was feeling down in the dumps and not really caring about anything today so I almost didn’t read your blog. I’m so glad I listened to that little voice because what you say is so true. I have a gazillion things to be thankful for. The minute I started thinking of them I immediately started feeling better. Thank you very much.

  12. LOVE this. Practicing gratitude is such a gift to ourselves. Especially since what we appreciate appreciates. I’m on day 48 of writing 10 things I’m grateful for and why every morning and plan to never stop.

And I feel the same way as stated above when I see your blog posts! It always brightens my day.

  13. Thank you for your beautiful words…As someone who is dealing with Long Covid your posts and books are such great reminders to stay in GRATITUDE and heal…even when it’s seems difficult…All is WEll!!! Love ya

  14. I am grateful for every post and extra grateful it comes right to my inbox. Thank you for making love so easy.
I’m in the course in miracles experiment, and the most empowering phrase came up:
“I have no personal thoughts”. My spirit practically cried with joy as I experienced allowing what that would feel like.

  15. I love your irreverent way of writing. It makes me smile and yet always plugs me into the truth of it all. Thanks. Keep it up!

  16. Your work is so valuable; meaningfully life and indeed, world, changing. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are such a genuine inspiration!! 🙏

  17. I have never commented on anything like this before, but this post really inspired & uplifted me today. I love your books Pam & love watching you on You Tube & your style is magical & so relatable. I just wanted to send love & blessings from the UK from someone you don’t know & you will probably never meet, but who thinks you are an amazing human being. You touch my heart – thank you x

  18. Top ‘ o the hour gratitude. Lovely reminder, Pam. You’re FABULOUS.
Continuing to see vision you spoke to me for you.
Our 🎥 movie is in process to be in theaters worldwide this year.

  19. Thank you so much Pam for your posts, they are so genuine and I love seeing them pop into my inbox. I lost my mum unexpectedly a few weeks ago and I’m struggling so much to reach for gratitude, the world has slipped out from under my feet and I’m really hoping I can find some stable footing soon. The hurt is overwhelming and uncomfortable, and not being able to bounce back in my usual way has shaken me. I pray I find myself again soon x

    1. Cassie — Please know that you are beautiful and you are loved and you will find your footing again. I am sorry for your loss. It is not easy to lose our loved ones but life will go on. Sending blessings!

    2. Dear Cassie, I’m so sorry for your heartache. If you haven’t yet, and only if/when you feel ready, please read “Proof Of Heaven” by Dr. Eben Alexander. It’s incredible and so comforting. I can say with confidence that your Mum is with you, watching over you, loving you always. Blessings.

      1. Thank you so much, I have heard of Dr Alexander’s story and you’re right I need to read his book! I recently read Dr Moody’s Life After Life and Anita Moorjani’s story and they both have brought such comfort – going to search for Proof of Heaven now! xx

  20. Bless you Pam, for being so real..as even those with the awareness to stay focussed on the joy and gratitude sometimes need to recalibrate Phew!

  21. I just love your weekly emails. They are so inspiring and timely reminders. Every. Single. Time. Thank you so much for them.

  22. Thankyou Pam for your enthusiasm and perfectly timed posts! I haven’t been feeling very grateful lately and I can see that my lack of gratitude has contributed to my feelings of lack, of being stuck, and feeling like I’m being attacked by life. But I can see that it’s my perception of things, and my lack of gratitude within it all, that is messing me up and pulling me down. So Thankyou for your invigorating post that reminds us that gratitude can – and does – change everything, and that practising it daily, or hourly, or every minute if necessary is a powerful yet simple practise that helps bring us back to love and peace. Amen! Thankyou Pam – you and your blog posts always brighten my day so thank you for shining your light and sharing your truths with us. We are definitely blessed. 🙏

  24. Thanks Pam…I’m grieving the loss of my beloved husband…a feeling I know you know well with the loss of your beloved daughter…so your reminder of hourly gratitude practice resonated with me today. I’m so blessed to have a wonderful family and friends supporting me as we go through this journey. So blessed and grateful!💖

  25. Wow that was so what I needed today! I’m sending much gratitude for you and your wisdom, and feeling my husbands hand on my shoulder even though he’s departed this plane. I’m replacing fear with love and gratitude for the wonderful world we live in, xoxo

  26. Gratitude is definitely where its at! The best prayer is two words THANK YOU!
And Thank You Pam for your constant flow of inspiration!

  27. Thank you Pam for being you ! This message just saved me from feeling so sad about losing a loved one.

  28. hour by hour gratitude, what a great idea Pam. I do a gratitude time each night before i go to sleep but often think that I’ve missed things , so hour by hour it will be for me. Thank you Pam

  29. Oh Pam, I don’t comment every time I want to, but every day your words touch my life and point to a better way, and I AM GRATEFUL! What you do is what we are all asked to do, to recognize and save ourselves, seeing ourselves in our fellow beings, and you do it with such grace and elegance, showing how it can simply unfold, — that graceful presence of constantly being one with the Divine. Thank you. Love. 222 forever indeed!

  30. Many thanks Pam!! 🙂 You’re always such an inspiration, lovingly reminding us of the amazing magic that surrounds us each and every day! No matter what is going on in our personal lives, no matter what is happening in this upside-down world – we can be GRATEFUL and CHOOSE to feel blessed and experience joy and happiness. E-Squared changed my life some years back and opened up a whole new world for me (and my kids!). I’m forever grateful to you and wish you every happiness, keep on spreading your light and love. 222 Forever!!

  31. Perfectly timed reminder Pam. We’ve got some big stuff going on with returning to the UK after eight years in France, and I’ve been sliding into ‘woe is me’. Earlier today I said ‘I think I need to get back to my regular doses of gratitude’ and then your reminder came. Smiling …..a lot! Thank you (heart emoji)

  32. I’ve been stuck in “woe is me” so “thank you” for the reminder that one precludes the other. More thankfulness will get me back on track. Hugs to you!

  33. Hello Pam, thank you for the beautiful posting. Thank you for reminding me to practice hour by hour gratitude every day! I already know it! But I forget it! I appreciate the refresher! I enjoy your postings so very much and I always agree with every word you say! I have never met you but would love to hear you speak. I live in Phoenix, Az. so if you are ever this way, let me know. Thank you again for giving of yourself and your time to post refreshing words to all of us.

  34. Thank you for your posting. I always read it and I’m glad to be reminded to practice Gratitude every day, hour by hour!

  36. Thank you so much for all you do. Reading your books have really made a huge difference for me. I have shared your books with others. I would like to know if you give talks? I would love to hear you in person.

  37. For sure gratitude is the easiest. Even in difficult times there are things to be grateful for. Thanks for sharing.
