Just the facts, ma’am

“Finally, I saw that worrying had come to nothing. And I took my old body out into the morning to sing.”—Mary Oliver

Tech companies around the globe are vying for our attention. They know our collective attention is worth big bucks and they’re doing everything they can to capture it and hold it–the more minutes (hours, for some of us?) the better.

Not only is your attention a highly-prized resource, but you can use it to be of service to the world.

If you refuse to place your attention on all the “what if’s”, the “OMG’s”, the “everything is falling apart,” and simply focus on facts, you’re actually performing a public service.

Most people I know are focused on the emotions, the triggers, the ‘ain’t it awfuls,” By placing their valuable attention there, they create more fear and more negativity. Our attention is THAT powerful.

Here’s a tiny example of how we squander our precious attention:

Let’s say you lost your job. All you really know for sure (the one true fact) is there’s no longer a job in your immediate future. Why start adding a bunch of stories? Things like: What if I can’t find another one? The economy is crazy right now. What if I starve?

Our tendency is to embellish the only fact we know for sure (I lost my job) with all our “oh no’s,” our speculations, our suppositions.

Here’s where the public service comes in:

I lost my job.

Add nothing to this fact. Sit back. Relax. Wait to see what you’re guided to do next. It’s hard and counterintuitive, I know, but if you choose to put your attention on this clear non-emotional, not fraught frequency, you will be guided what to do next.

Life is always here to help us evolve spiritually. Our ONLY job is to refuse to interfere. I heard somebody describe it like this, “My job is to be the allower-in-chief.”

With all the potential emotional pitfalls happening now, I was guided to share this short factual message.

Yours in love and unlimited potential,

The Allower-in-Chief

  3. Thanks for the timely message. I just extricated myself from my job and I’m excited to see what’s next.

  4. When I lived in San Diego, CA I refused to go to the ACIM held at the church I used to attend. I made up lots of stories about the course, the woman who led it and more. Almost 4 years ago, I moved to Las Vegas. I attend Unity Las Vegas. They support an ACIM group. I attend when I am able. The course changed my life in a positive way. I can release negative emotions and behavior patterns which no longer serve me. Maybe I was not ready before. I am filled with gratitude.

  5. Okay, I’m keeping this amazing bit of wisdom where I can see it every day to remind me to “ONLY” stick to the FACT of the situation and not to CREATE STORIES around the fact so that the Universe can show me what to do next. Relax and allow spirit to GUIDE. This is what I’ve needed for soooo long! So much gratitude for your blog Pam. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  7. Wow! So timely, love the straight forward approach, I’ve been blah blahing about career fears and lack of inspiration and that is the frequency I’ve created. Stopping now! In gratitude Tina

  8. Thank you for always reminding me of the little things I tend to forget. Your emails are the best ones in my inbox!

  9. Oh wow Pam, this is just the absolutely perfect message for me today. I want to leave my job but I haven’t got another one to go to and I’ve been telling myself I need another job first. In the meantime my current job is sucking the life out of me, but I’ve been telling myself all these “stories” about why I have to get another job first. Your message here has reminded me that that is just another story and that “all things are possible” – including finding the perfect job AFTER leaving this one. Yay!! So now I can leave my job and “sit back, relax, and wait to see what I’m guided to do next.” Yes!! 💃🎉🥳 Thankyou for your timely wisdom and for doing your bit in helping us to “find the courage to break the patterns in our lives that are no longer serving us.” I can’t wait to share the magical true story of how I get my new job! Woohoo! 😁💃🦋🥳

  10. Thank you. I needed to hear this today. I lost my job last September and have been open to guidance ever since. I am not in dire straights, yet occasionally I slip into the “what ifs”. Thank you for reminding me that right now is all that matters. And right now I am loved, safe and happy.

  11. Thank you Pam this is amazing and so true. So I will get my allower in chief on and change the world 🥰

  12. I’m soooo grateful that I haven’t needed a job for 13 years(it’s called retirement).

  13. Thank you for putting that reminder in front of more readers. I always appreciate your posts.

  14. Duly noted and very much appreciated!
Freedom from “what ifs” is a challenge well worth my effort.
    Thank You 🙏

  15. Interesting terminology to loose a job, its not like I’ve misplaced the damn thing, I know exactly where it is. lol I actually just got retrenched after a whopping 3mths of service, and to be honest wasn’t that upset about it, however the struggle is not to get sucked into the passed experience of trying to find work and finally getting a position that doesn’t serve me other than pay a mediocre income. I am open to new experiences, and I do believe (mostly) that the universe now I just have to hold steady in that belief by focusing on the gifts I receive every day.
