“Remind yourself that you are not the mind and that its problems are not yours.”—Sri Nisargadatta Mahara

You gotta love the Dude’s persistence. Even with our chatty minds constantly looking for problems and judging everything they see, The Dude still manages to make contact.

I’ve spent a couple weeks purposefully aware of The Dude as I’m out in a forest, far from most distractions. It never ceases to amaze how creative The Dude is in making Itself known. Like that picture on this post. I don’t know if you can see, but out in the middle of nowhere, in a place where few people go, I found a bounty of wild pink roses and two other colors of wildflowers, all in one place. It felt like a gift just for me.

I also want to share, since I’m eager to get back to listening to nature, a couple stories from the old inbox where the Dude (I’m so grateful He never gives up) was able to make contact. Enjoy!

  1. A week ago, I did one of your E-Cubed experiments while I was visiting my dad in his tiny town. I had so much fun, distributing notes with $5 attched. I felt more happy and relaxed about money than I had done in a long time. The result was simply outstanding. I was expecting an inheritance from my aunt and didn’t know how much it would be. This morning $114,000 landed in my bank account. Wow!! Wow! Wow! I wasn’t expecting that but I’m so happy and excited to receive it. Now I really know the Universe has my back.

2. “A couple of weeks before your girl left this planet my son also left very unexpectedly, only in his early 20’s I was in shock at first, then hysterical and then unable to even think.

“I found myself sitting at the kitchen table late one night when I said out loud, Jake please just let me know you are ok, that you’re still here. In that instant all the lights in my house went out. I was even stupid enough to go out and check the fuse box which was just fine. He kindly left the power points working so I could turn on a lamp and boil the kettle. I almost phoned an electrician but I couldn’t bear anyone in my home at the time. I waited three whole days before I finally sat back at the table and said, ok ok Jake I know it’s you. And the lights came back on. All the hairs on my arms stood up. It’s also the day I stopped crying. I was still so sad because I missed him so much but it gave me a peace I had never had before. For the first time I truly knew we never die.

“I felt guilty telling most people because they wanted to see a hysterical grieving parent but although I was still sad I was at peace. Not long after I saw you had a daughter who had also passed and it was very comforting to read your thoughts especially at times when I’d forget the truth.”

3. The last story comes from yesterday’s possibility posse. Yes, I was able to Zoom in from the forest. One of the members was riding their bike on the Lawrence trail (that “just happens” to be 22.2 miles long) when they noticed their patootie was sore. At that moment, they looked down and saw a padded, comfort bicycle seat, discarded and ready to use.

I’m telling you folks. Despite what your asshat mind tries to tell you, the universe is bountiful and waiting for you, like E.T., to phone home. #222 Forever

  1. I loved the story about The Son who Turned out the Lights – Gave me goose-bumps! (Actually, I love all your stories but that was an especially good one)

  2. Hey Pam. Thanks for another great post, especially the quote from Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj–how I love him.

Here’s another, of the many of his, that I love: “”Before the mind–I Am ‘I Am’ is not a thought in the mind; the mind happens to me, I do not happen to the mind.” Ahhh, nectar, more nectar, please!
    Warm regards,

  3. omg pam you are AMAZING! i finally discovered you recently and can’t stop listening— in the tub b4 work i do your fun ACIM book (i had tried it so many times since high school and just couldn’t get it!)

(saw you on michael sandler and got HOOKED)

then at night no matter what kind of day i’ve had i listen b4 bed and in the morning b4 meditation/tub/work thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to break that monster DOWN!

had always wondered as a child how were burning hell if we breathed wrong but then —oh, that’s right! god is love?

really? how can we burn for all eternity because first of all, fires go out— they just get done when there’s nothing more to burn so . . . that just did NOT make sense to me

then, just so many scary stories from the bible— that book TERRIFIES me to this day!

and i mean how depressing are those psalms?!

and when i asked my mom and dad about it they had nothin’

but we were all going to hell . . .

so anyway, i have had my own (all my life) e cubed moments that made me feel SURE that there is SOMETHING out there that cares.

thank you so much for validating that and challenging me to keep believing and setting up experiments to feel the magic more. so exciting!

i am living in st. louis, missouri now and i was wondering—lawrence is just not that far away—do you have any events i could attend?

would so love to meet you in person sometime!!

    1. How cool is that! Michael Sandler seems to be a conduit. I used to come to St. Louis frequently, but most of my friends there have moved away.

  4. I love this so much Pam! I’ve had so many challenges with my youngest son. And lately I am seeing many hawks!… and I have a few really fun angel stories!!… I LOVE to know we are never truly alone. ❤️

  5. Great that you are enjoying the outdoors and nature. I live here in northeast Brasil but I walk in nature daily. I fondly remember my days as a Forestry Engineer in Quebec- I just loved working in the forest- had many adventures there but I have always survived. Nature is God- Infinite Intelligence! 6. Thank you I loved this, I was feeling down a couple of weeks ago, I looked up at the sky and asked for a sign, I asked to see a little blue butterfly, I live in the uk where it’s cold, rainy and don’t often see little blue butterfly’s , about an hour later I went into my garden, the sun came out and there sitting on a conifer tree was a little blue butterfly 🦋

  7. Pam, PERFECT! I love the part about the “asshat mind”. That is going to be my new name for that voice up there talking to me all day and night. “pipe down, asshat”! Made me laugh.

  8. Thank you for this! Of all of the authors/teachers I read/listen to, there is no one who brings a tear to my eye more often. Your beautiful examples of the universe working on our behalf always move me. I appreciate the truth, simplicity and consistency of your message. Thank you for challenging us to test the universe and see for ourselves how beautifully and easily this all works.

  9. Thank you so much. I really needed this reminder. I hope your time in the Forest is absolutely magical…but I guess it already is! (the roses!)

  10. I got your app on my phone and while my daughter reads the lesson out loud each morning, I read it on my phone so it really sinks in. Then I can look at the lesson and do the exercises each hour during the day. I will never believe my nincompoop again. It created so many problems on my house that I couldn’t find anyone to come look at much less afford to repair. I kept saying I just needed an inspector to tell me if I really had a problem. I guess it was finally loud enough because when I sent the office a third email looking for someone to help, the guy who showed up was the inspector of my place from seven years ago. I recognized him immediately. I do need a new roof but not this minute. Everything else is so perfect he said mine would be the first house to sell if that’s what I wanted to do. That stupid nincompoop really had me going. I’m so happy, I’m floating now. I got just what I asked for and needed. He wouldn’t even let me pay him. There is still so much good in the world.

  11. Wow!!! Thank you for these wonderful stories!!! Love U

  12. Love these stories Pam. The Dude sure does do all kinds of amazing things to show us that we are not alone, and that everything we need is right there for us if we will just open our eyes and our hearts, and tune in. Yes!
Here’s a cool example of the magic of being in the right place at the right time that happened to me recently. The other week as I was driving with a friend my car suddenly broke down without warning. I was unable to pull over to the side of the road and couldn’t roll out of the way either because we were on a slight incline. So we were stopped in the middle of a busy road with no way of moving until I could arrange help to arrive. I’d only just put my hazard lights on and got out of the car to warn and direct traffic out of the way when a man called out from across the road and asked what was wrong. He then offered to tow my car around the corner. He happened to live just around the corner from where I’d broken down, and he had just driven past us on his way home and saw we were broken down. So he’d walked around the corner to ask if we needed help and then he walked back to his house, got his car – which happened to be a big 4 wheel drive with a huge tow bar, hooked my car up to his with the towing rope he just happened to own, and towed me safely around the corner off the busy road. I was so grateful, and so amazed at the timing of all of it. If that kind gentleman had driven home just ten minutes earlier we wouldn’t have broken down yet so he wouldn’t have seen us. And what are the odds that I broke down at that exact spot at that exact time just around the corner from a guy who owned a car that could tow me, and who happened to not only be available to help, but willing to do so? For a complete stranger. I’m still in awe of it all and for his act of great kindness.
So, the dude truly does show up in all kinds of ways, in all kinds of places, and I’m so glad we get these wonderful reminders to help us know we are never alone.
Thanks dear Pam for your inspiring posts, and blessings galore to you always. ☺️

    1. What a great story! A friend of mine’s car broke down the other day and the guy who came to tow her (in minutes flat) ended up asking her out. So you never know!

      1. Cool!! That’s a fun thing to happen out of a not-so-fun experience. 💃I’ll have to add that to my subconscious list of possible ways of meeting “the man of my dreams”. 😁👍🏻❤️ (Not that I want my car to break down again of course, but hey, if it does, why not get a date out of it! 😄)

  14. Thank you Pam. I cannot express how deeply grateful I am for your teachings through your books and your postings. It truly has changed my life.

  15. I so love the stories you’re sharing with us Pam. Story #2 in particular reminds me of a similar incident – I moved house 5 years after my mum had died. One evening, when I was alone in the living room and watching something on TV, suddenly the lights went out. While searching for candles, I noticed that the street lamps were still on and I could see light in my neighbours’ houses. Like the lady from story #2 I went to check the fuse box – but fuses were ok. Suddenly I felt my mum’s presence and said “is it you mum? So you’re paying me a visit in the new place then!” The light went on.

But the weirdest thing of it all was that the electronic alarm clock in the bedroom was not affected so the “power failure” had only happened in the living room/the ground floor…..

    Enjoy your forest retreat!
