The biggest secret in the world is we all really love each other

“The world is sneakier than I thought, more mysterious and filled with wonder than I boiled things down to.”—Lisa Gungorsheroremod3

I live near a river. My favorite coffee shops, restaurants, the local art theater are just on the other side so I often find myself walking across the bridge. The pedestrian/bike lane is small so I regularly pass fellow humans heading the other direction. I always smile, nod, give a courteous, “hello!”

But what my heart longs to do is high-five them, fist-bump them, to exclaim out loud. “Isn’t this cool? You and I? Here together? What are the odds? This moment will never be again. We could die. Why aren’t we celebrating?”

It’s a puzzling quandary. Why do we waste even one moment of time not loving each other, not celebrating our common humanity? Where did we get these crazy rules? That’s it’s okay to love people in specified relationships? That it’s okay to love people after they prove themselves “safe?” That it’s acceptable to give of your gifts when somebody pays for them?

We are wasting time, people. The world is filled with so many amazingly awesome beings and we could be loving them all—even if only for a moment, on a bridge.

Speaking of love, I’m excited to report that Sheroes Hangout, the first recipient of Taz’s 222 Foundation, is making good use of their grant. Abhay sent pictures of their new space which I’m thrilled to share here with you. Thank you, one and all, for your touching cards, your good wishes, your donations, your pictures of 222.sheroremod4

For those who haven’t heard, Sheroes Hangout is an incredibly inspiring café/coffee shop in Agra, India, not far from the Taj Mahal where I left part of Taz’s ashes. It’s run by victims of acid attacks, 10 women whose lives have been turned upside down after acid was thrown on them by people who allegedly loved them. Sheroes Hangout offers coffee and free food to anyone who stops by, no questions asked. sheroremod

Rather than protest their unfortunate situations, these women are changing society by choosing to give, by choosing to love, by choosing to demonstrate that, despite being culturally shunned, they are still beautiful and worthy and bursting with important gifts to bestow on the world.

I will be announcing a request for proposals for next year’s 222 Foundation grant soon. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, I’m excited to let you know Course in Miracles for Badasses (my 20th book) debuts in early 2020. Yet another 2-2-2.

For now, though, I’d like to ask a favor. I’m currently collecting happy songs, songs that make you want to dance, to love, to be more of who you really are.

I’d be so grateful if you could take a moment and list your favorite celebration songs in the comments below.

And again, my friends, thank you SO, SO MUCH!!!!

  13. HI Pam,

When your email came in just now, a thought popped into my head “Oh – I’m so connected to Pam Grout.” I don’t know where that came from! Anyway at the bottom of your post you asked for happy songs.

Did I ever tell you my theory?

It’s MUSIC that creates things!! I never considered myself a musical person – can’t carry a tune or play any instruments – but I’ve always used music to energize myself. In the last few years I’ve started to listen to Abraham Hicks – your vibration, the Vortex, etc. etc. I realized looking back over the last 40 years that my life really proves what Abraham is saying. I can’t believe how much my life is now the way I pictured it, years ago. I used to clean my house to “South Pacific” because it helped me stay cheerful when we were struggling to adopt – we ended up with 1 foster and 3 adopted children, all Asian like the children I loved in the movie (now 3 grandchildren too). I fell in love with Ireland and Irish history, and also played Irish music when I was driving, or cleaning. I can’t even begin to tell you the INCREDIBLE number of synchronicities there! (I wrote to you last summer from Dublin about one that occurred, as I was talking *about* you, in St Stephen’s Green in Dublin). There are more examples, but I realized years after the fact that playing music that made me focus on getting my children or researching Irish history or travelling to Ireland…. and keeping me in a super upbeat happy mood at the time… paid off in MUCH bigger ways than I ever even expected! So now, I do it deliberately. When I want something, I pick out a song or a sound track, play it and sing along when I’m driving or cleaning or exercising, whatever… and it’s working. BIG TIME. 🙂 For example, the soundtrack to On The Twentieth Century and Gigi = one month rent-free apartment 2 blocks from the Louvre. Plus, of course, 2 weeks rent free in Dublin just becasue we happen to change planes there.

    So, that’s my theory.

    Love ya!! Fran

I love that you asked people for their happy songs.

Santa Monica Boulevarde by Sheryl Crowe, Happy by Pharrell Williams and Moondance by Van Morrison. I just totally love Happy by Pharrell Williams and cannot help dancing or jigging or head bopping whenever I hear it. 61. As always, your post is very timely, Pam! I believe I drove over that very same bridge, yesterday, and just happened to notice (for the very first time) the people crossing on foot and bike… people from all walks of life. So much diversity in such a small area. Aren’t we blessed to be a part of it, if only we could just interact with everyone and be able to hear all the stories?
I also noticed the energy of the water flowing below the bridge. That was quite amazing as well!

And for my happy song choice… Dancing Queen! (Pretty much anything by ABBA)

    Much love to you, Pam!

P.S. Thank you for all your endeavors… 222 foundation, your wonderful books, uplifting blogs, for it all!

And I would totally high five you and dance like a fool with you. I keep trying to spread the love, no matter how many strange looks I get. 🙂
Looking forward to your 20th book in 2020. I realized the other day that my phone # the year 2020 will be in sinc for a whole year. Cool.

  81. The synchronicity of this blows me away! Feeling flat this morning as I try to create a new life after travelling overseas for a year, I decided to start a “Happy” list on Spotify! I’ve got plenty of material now!
Yesterday I asked the universe for guidance on my life path. I draw a daily Tarot card. Today it was “The Fool”, which means a new beginning and to take a leap of faith. The message seems clear.
Pam, your thoughts on love are very thought provoking and really touched me.

    My favourite “happy” songs are:
    Let’s go crazy – Prince
    Beautiful Day – U2
with irony – Highway To Hell – AC/DC

Pam, it’s great to get things from you in my box again.
    Many thanks!

  82. ¨Antorchas en la niebla¨ by El Arrebato. I realize these lyrics are in Spanish, however the gist of it is everything´s going to be okay…even though there´s a cliff, he says ¨I´m with you¨ but when I listen to it I can´t help but feel like it´s Source saying that through him. I haven´t seen the English translation to the whole thing, but smart phones have a translation feature connected to the camera for those interested. https://www.smule.com/song/arrebato-antorchas-en-la-niebla-karaoke-lyrics/5978711_5978711/arrangement

  83. First, “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. Just a fun, fun, fun gotta-dance song! Whenever this song is played at one of our family get-togethers the whole gang is on the floor dancing and singing at the top of their lungs. Second, “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations. Ignore the words, just listen to the music and the tempo–and DANCE! Happy song for sure!

  84. * Here comes the sun… The Beatles
    * Let it Go… Frozen

  86. My favourite at the moment is Bruno Mars´s “24K Magic”. I do not know what it is in this song that always lifts my spirit but it does. I suspect they have used Theta frequencies when recording that or something….or maybe Schumann´s resonance : )

  87. Carly simon with Andreas Vollenweider “Midnight Clear ”
    Giorgia “Il sole azzuro”
Sending you so much love Pam !❤

  88. I’m amazed at how much better I feel listening to many of the songs suggested here, and some I had already gathered as my happy songs. I have been in such a funk. Music is miraculous, how could I have forgotten? Thank you again Pam, for the reminder. As I go through this list and create a new playlist on YouTube, my spirit is lifted. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  89. Hi Pam-
Thank you for another inspiring post.

  92. The one song I offer up (although there are many more) is “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. It’s the ring tone on my phone, so even when I get those annoying robo calls – I let the phone ring because of the music. I always thought the song was cute, but it was Pharrell’s interview with Oprah, where he explained the meaning behind the song that made it all clear. I’m humming it now & my phone isn’t even ringing! Much love is being sent your way, Pam. I know the journey forward can be tough – but you are not alone. I can’t wait for your new book coming out next year. I follow several paths, ACIM along with Buddhism so although I may be stretching myself a bit thin on the spiritual spectrum, it’s all good.

  93. Good Vibrations – Marky Mark
I wish and Don’t you worry about a thing – Stevie Wonder
Never Too Much – Luther Vandross

Sending you lots of love Pam xoxo

Sending love and light to you, or should I say, returning love and light to you.

  101. NO NO NO!!! Changed my mind.

Pam, bring the song from within you. Try the key of G. Accessible and resonates happiness. Get your Posse on the road with you to create this composition. WRITE YOUR OWN SONG, PAM!!!! Here’s a phrase you’ve probably heard of: Find the Happiness Inside Of You. Start with A Cat Stevens line “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out”

Pam, find YOUR voice again. Your song. Your melody.

    You’ve got this girl.

  102. Pam a huge big high five to you! The project in India sounds phenomenal.

  103. Pam;

This is my first post anywhere off FB. Grateful to have found you several years ago, you have helped confirm so much of what I believe. i recently relocated to Florida after almost 60 years in my home town. While comfortable, I always felt there was another place for me. Arriving here has been a blessing. There are more positive, uplifting, supportive people around me now, and each time I turn around I find another! The paddle is in the water, but I don’t use it to propel myself, merely to steer.

My celebration song is Row Row Row Your Boat.

    Row Row Row Your Boat

(YOUR boat. not MY boat, not HIS boat, YOUR boat)

    Gently Down the stream

(it says GENTLY. DOWN. not fighting the upstream current, or hurrying to get anywhere)

Merrily Merrily Merrily Merrily. (well . . . DUH)

    Life Is But A Dream.

    Because,

    it is.

    Thank You

    Mr Mark

  104. Hi Pam, I’ve tried several times to add my suggestion for the celebration song in the comments, but it won’t post. I so wanted you to get it, so here it is: Allman Brothers Revival https://youtu.be/jUx19JYBBCg Sorry to do it this way, but it’s such a great song! Love to you,Kathy

  105. I have a huge ‘happy’ playlist, two of my favourites are Shaboom by the undertones and One day like this by Elbow. Beautiful and fantastic post. I travel into London everyday and am always trying to get people to smile, talk, laugh, it’s a challenge but someone has to do it! You are an inspiration. Kxx

    “Get up on the floor,
Dancin to the break of dawn,
    Get up on the floor,
    Dancin,
    Dancin is what to do,
Dancin when I think of you,
    Dancin’s what clears my soul,
    Dancin’s what makes me whole….” 😀

  120. Pam, I am in a bit of a quandary myself.
I have decided to try my hand at editing. The collection will be about 33 short stories from 3 different genres. I will be donating the money to charity, all of it, unless there is some small cost for the cover and such on the E-book. It will be a major undertaking and I am looking forward to it. As a survivor and of Stroke and the great things (including LoA that have come from it) I want that charity to be the 222 Foundation. However, I cannot receive the money myself as it will devastate my disability standings. Is there a way for people to give to the 222 foundation either by a pool of sorts or individually. I will work it out from there.
    Sincerely,
    Scott

My favorite right now. It stuck with me when I first heard a snip-it of the song in a cruise commercial. It opens with…..”I think I finally found my Hallelujah.” I thought it was just a catchy commercial jingle. I then went to an exercise class where they blasted the entire song and the instructed sang it’s good to be alive while we warmed up. I call that class my hallelujah class now. I love it.
