The celebration coursing through your body

“You are defined by how great your thoughts are.”—Henry Winkler
henry-winkler-emmys-2018
Henry Winkler won his first Emmy last night for best supporting actor.

I have no idea if the 72-year-old actor has even heard of the Course in Miracles, but I do know he uses its principles in every aspect of his life.

When he was seven, he began imagining himself being an actor.

Because he had undiagnosed dyslexia, he was pegged in school as “the class dunce, not that bright. Stupid.” His parents practically disowned him because they thought he was lazy.

He called it ironic that he went into a field where reading was part of the drill. Monday’s script read-throughs on “Happy Days” where he played the leather-jacketed, bequiffed Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli filled him with dread.

But along the way, he learned something important, something ACIM Lesson 261 tells us. We live and move in a ginormous field of love and information.

He was unable to learn by using his eyes. Or his brain. So he learned by getting quiet and simply listening. By accessing the ginormous field of love and info coursing through his body.

“I have to wait,” he says.

But without fail, whatever he needs to know literally drops into his awareness.

The trick, he says, is getting beyond the neurosis in your brain. Once you wash anything that bothers you out of your body, everything you need to know is right there.

“Your inner voice, your instinct knows everything.”

  1. Pam, I moved to Las Vegas about a month ago. I found a Unity Church that offers A Course in Miracles. Tomorrow night is my first time. Thank you,

  2. Henry Winkler is so right. I’ve been wanting to make a change in my life for quite some time. In 2008, I quit full-time teaching to become a full-time writer. But I still needed to make money, so I began teaching at the local community college part-time. For the last year, I’ve wanted to learn to market my books and also become a freelancer, but I didn’t know how to do either of those things. Yet, I kept an open mind and heart. Last Wednesday, I was feeling a little bit of despair, so I asked for help to change my mind so the answer to my desires could come to me. That very day I attended an online workshop for The No Pants Project, that coaches people on how to become a freelancer. It was just what I had asked for. I signed up and am on my way to a new life.

Thanks so much, Pam, for your blog posts. They help me stay positive and moving forward. I’m expecting to be getting clients very soon.

  3. Hi Pam, love your posts! And apart from ACIM I have Deepak Chopra’s “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” on speed dial. Law 4: The Law of Least Effort seems particularly relevant here. Deepak tells us: “In Vedic Science, the age-old philosophy of India, this principle is known as the principle of economy of effort, or “do less and accomplish more.” Ultimately you come to the state where you do nothing and accomplish everything. This means that there is just a faint idea, and then the manifestation of the idea comes about effortlessly. What is commonly called a “miracle” is actually an expression of the Law of Least Effort.” Could it be that Henry’s (in the view of “society”) “stupidity” was in fact his awesome “ability”? Makes Ya think… that through not efforting… it’s all “just there”?

    1. ~ Thank you. Beautiful post Pam! Love Henry Winkler! Love his way of thinking! As well, thank you to Aliis Kodis. Your post too provided me with a good learning moment. I enjoy Deepak Chopra very much. Coming from a European background of work hard to get to where you need to be, I do so appreciate the “Law of Least Effort” and am slowly learning at 52 years young how to apply this philosophy to my new life/new way of living. Thank you again to all.

  4. Yes! I was on my first youtube live yesterday. I purposely had almost no idea what would happen on the show. I did not watch other shows this channel had held previously, I asked almost no questions, just offered a grand Thank You to the universe. Today I’m told it was one of the best shows they’ve ever had. And what a THRILL letting spirit guide me through it.

  5. Amen Henry Winkler! Amen Pam! So simple yet so profound. The kingdom of The Super Dude is within (😁) and we have access to it’s wisdom 24/7 – if we just get out of our own way.
Thankyou for your regular doses of inspiration. I love starting my day here with you and the gang 😘👍🏻

  6. Love that you shared about Henry Winkler!! On top of his amazing acting career, he penned a series of kids’ books with an autobiographical character Hank Zipper!!! Hank has some learning challenges, and he touches my students’ hearts as they recognize themselves in Hank!
    Talk about “Happy Days!” (Wink)

  7. I’ve learned a lot here today which is why I keep showing up. I was tickled pink for Henry. If he can do it, that opens the doors of possibility. I like the idea of letting the universe download the information we need. Thank you so much for pointing this out.

  8. WOW, Pam! This is so awesome, I just took the ending of this piece and put it in my gratitude journal! Oh! And it had been about a year since I last wrote in it….until I read your blog from last week, where you posted a video of your interview with a cool radio guy. It so inspired me that I wrote the following as my first entry in my gratitude journal …..exactly a year to the date from when I left off….

“Today I am grateful that I read a post on Pam Grout’s blog – It reminded me to keep looking for amazingly awesome miracles every day…. and to be grateful “

I know this is a day late, and I hope you see this.

Love you Pam! Even when you’re not looking 😍
    Big ❤️

  9. HIs comment at acceptance really resonated with me: “If you stay at the table long enough, the chips come to you.”
    Love this blog, Pam!
