Take the gift, dammit!

The standard paradigm goes something like this: life is hard, it requires a constant influx of dinero and, if you’re lucky (knock on wood) and nothing goes wrong, you might be able to enjoy your final years with a brief retirement.

What if I told you it’s all utter nonsense? And that your search for legal tender, convenience and even spiritual enlightenment is a big fat waste of time.

Do you really think you’re here “to create a brand?” Or to market Doritos or buy inflatable swimming pools? Do you really think tracking your market share, your 401K, your days until the weekend is a valuable pursuit?

In ACIM Lesson 97, we learn we are spirit. And that the party line we so diligently march towards is nothing but a ridiculous made-up story.

We’re encouraged in this lesson to enjoy the spirit’s gift. The gift that’s already here. The gift that requires not one iota of effort from you or me.

Picture the dude as Oprah.

You get a gift. And you get a gift. And you get a…..

You get this gift even if you Ef up. Even if you never get off your couch. Even if you’re constantly devising evil plans to get back at your college adversary.

It’s life, baby, and it’s here, coursing through your veins, and there’s nothing you can do stop it.

So forget your feeble fears, your efforts to amass fortunes, to collect things.

Forget you even have a body. Just rest in the vibrancy of spirit that lives and moves and animates your blessed self.

  1. Thanks Pam for sharing your gift that helps us see our gift so that we can all “rest in the vibrancy of spirit that lives and moves and animates our blessed selves.” Delicious! Amen! 😁🌷🦋💖

  2. Thank you for your words that uplift and help me to learn easier, the lessons in ACIM. I really really needed to hear today’s lesson as I am struggling with feeling alone and unsupported, trying to release the dam fear (from which I ‘learned’ as ‘My reality’ at a very very young age)…I am 50 now and neex to let it go so i can have some joy in at least whatever life I have left here (and fear anxiety, etc., is sooo tiring in every way!). I look forward to your words everyday and appreciate the time you spend to create and, send them out to us to help!!!!!!!! I send thoughts of blessings to you and all who read your words! 😊 Thank you

  3. “you wouln’t happen to have $8,000 bucks, would you?” George Bailey to Clarence, his Guardian Angel. I know I am Spirit….but still need the things that are physical. Not sure I am getting how this particular exercise is helping with that….but I greatly value the CIM no matter what! Thanks, Pam. Love your books, in fact, I am rereading them now. :))

  4. Thank you, Pam. I tout your spirit and steps and teachings all the time, but, today, nearly brought me to my knees. At the worst point, however, I simply smiled and said, “It’s all perfect and there’s nothing to be concerned about.” The moment passed and I have been getting better; life is better.
So, thanks, before all the E-Squared and E-cubed days, I would have been a sad, unresponsive, sick mess…

  5. I so want to believe this. There are moments, I do. There are other days I come close. Then there are other days, like this past week, when everything good I’ve tried to instill in my brain is overcome by anxiety and fear, my amygdala gone wild, set off by illness. Yet I still pray for a miracle of these backward steps propelling me to a leap forward in faith, trust, belief. So, if nothing else today, I will go outside into the sunshine and “rest in the vibrancy of spirit that lives and moves and animates [my] blessed self”. And I will continue to visit here. Thank you.

    1. Dear Terry – you are not alone. I also have a chronic illness going on 29 years now. On a “good day” ACIM sounds easy. If it wasn’t for Pam’s terrific attitude I would have left her blog years ago. Many days I just read her blog and it picks me up. I supposedly “created” this illness I have. I still cannot believe this. When one is in good health it is easy to believe many metaphysical/holy words. Sitting in the sunshine is always a wonderful idea. Know that you are loved. My heart was touched when I read your comment……….I send you happy blessings – they do seem to come when we ask. Love you Terry.

      1. May all beings be free from suffering and find that inner core of peace 💖

    2. No matter where you are on the ‘belief’ scale… it’s okay. It’s okay to feel angry and think it’s all a load of crap one day and awed by the depth of the wisdom the next. I think that’s pretty normal.

  6. As I was driving across the 7 mile bridge today, I was thanking the universe. Yes, each moment is a gift and I love the picture of the package (gift) on this lesson today. Amazing, again, that I was feeling this lesson before I had the opportunity to read it and the gift of your precious, easy to understand, joyful, happy words of explanation.

  7. Hi Pam, I love this. Thank you, Thank you for your happy, joyful, post. They uplift me, inspire me, and they give me choice. Love or Fear. Keep posting, I look forward to them every time. Theresa
