If Victor Frankl can find meaning in a concentration camp, I’m thinking those long lines at Target could easily be turned into a party.
Everything is in your attitude. You can either stand there, moaning about how slow the cashier is going or you can sing “Joy to the World.”
Those 15 people ahead of you? They could become your new best friends. I’ll bet together you could even sing harmony.
So no matter how long the lines get, no matter how demanding your “to-do” list seems, just remember, “This, too, is an opportunity to revolutionize your life and move into an entirely new realm of experience.”
This is the season of glad tidings. Don’t let it go to waste.

I’ve been noticing this season how often people speak negatively about the holidays….it’s sad. When that happens, I always spin something positive in return, but it seems too many people are focused on the shopping they haven’t done, the heavier traffic, the long lines, the weather (too cold…too warm – never “just right”!), and how busy they are and “won’t have time to get everything done in time”. My solution, in addition to the positive comment, is to breathe deeply and keep a smile on my face – and send a silent blessing for the poor, negative soul in front of me!
Thank you for the video reminder. It’s exactly what I needed to hear this morning. I’m reading the book for the 3 rd time. Came in especially helpful while I was back in Kansas last week dealing with a family emergency.

Hi Pam, my name is Tom Oreste and I live in Portland, Or.. I have a story to share with everyone that I think you’ll find “magical.” I’ll try and keep it short 🙂 My friend Charlene was turned onto E Squared about 2 weeks ago & asked me to pick up a copy and we could do the experiments together. I said sure and went out that day to Powell’s Books and purchased a copy. Loving the forward and introduction, I couldn’t wait for my first encounter with the Dude! (One of my all time favorites btw) So, I finished the Dude Abides Principle around 10pm and basically reflected on what I was embarking on, recognized it, and went to bed. The next day around 2pm, I had some personal belongings to pick up from a retailer (precious medals outlet) that I’d been frequenting for the past year. Run by a husband and wife tandem. It’s the middle of winter & Randy is complaining of a cold he’s just getting over and I’m complaining about the one I’m trying to get over. He asked me what I was doing to get well and I told him natural remedies. His wife Naife perked up and asked me if I’d be interested in something called DE Diatomaceous Earth that had just been delivered to their store. I’d never heard of it before and she was claiming some cool health benefits. So I said sure, not really thinking too much about it, she gave me a baggy filled with the stuff and a website to look at. When I returned home later that evening, I came to realize that this stuff is amazing! And it dawned on me that this had to be the “gift.” I thought that was pretty cool, right? And hell yeah, it was cool! I told Charlene and we confirmed that what took place was indeed a mini miracle. But the story doesn’t end there. I told her (Naife) when I left the store that day, that I would return and give her some MMS. Well, yesterday I returned unannounced to hand her my gift and as I was explaining how it works, I decided to let her know just how “special” her gift to me really was. And explaining that I had bought this book and yadda yadda, that she was an intricate part of this cool experiment…And I’ll be darned, she looks me in the eyes and says, ‘is the name of the book E Squared?’ If Randy wasn’t helping customers, I think she might have broke down and started crying, b/c when I said yes, her eyes welled up and we high fived! It turns out she left her copy of your book on an airplane and had only done “the Dude Abides Principle” and figured it would most likely land in the hands of someone who needed it. And finally, just this evening I e-mailed her (we exchanged e-mails yesterday so that I could give her some more info) and she responded, noticing my last name attached to my work e-mail and says your not related to Mickey & Maria are you? And if you are, she says, I grew up with them. Well needless to say, I responded and told her that yes I do know them, they’re my Aunt & Uncle….
I just want to say thank you for being an inspiration, magic is happening all the time, we just have forgotten how to notice it. You’re work will and is spreading like wild fire, opening the minds, hearts & souls of many people. I hope this letter finds you well Pam Grout! If ever in Portland; Charlene, Naife & I would love to treat you to some fine Portland cuisine!
